Manic Street Preachers' alternative and rockier version of Rhianna's Umbrella song:-

That song always makes me think of Resident Evil. How awesome would it be if that song played while as the end credits rolled in the upcoming Resident Evil Degeneration? So awesome, that I think if the movie is worth anything I'll make a fan edit of it with just that minor changed. Be kind of fun to show someone that version the first time they see the movie just for the WTF look on their face.

And to get back on topic, been listening to a lot of the Foo Fighters older stuff lately.

You might want to learn what you are talking about before saying stupid things. But most people never do, so it is okay, once again you fall in line with the conformists. The Bible has not been "modified" or "censored" in the way your are claiming it has. It is easy to bend facts and come up with crap like this, but it simply is not true.

Anyway, Shim, you are completely barking at shadows. You still don't really know what we "dumbasses" believe or think. Of course a life is a life. Anyway, there is no point in debating this, but please stop insulting everyone, and please stop thinking you know everything.

Your beleifs span from some fundemental values(i am not saying those values are wrong but... i donno if they are the best kind to have living in our world today), and i have little or no hope of changing your even persuading you of another veiwpoint especially on an internet forum. The only thing that will do that is if you have a real experience and go and see stuff for yourself.

What makes you think some of us have not had "real experience" and seen stuff for ourselves? I know this was directed at lj, but seriously, you guys sometimes seem to take such a high ground, assuming what you know is right because your experiences have told you it was. Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like from your eyes somebody could only be a right winger is if they simply were not enlightened and didn't know any better. Comments like "I am not saying those values are wrong but... I don't know if they are the best kind to have living in our world today" seem to indicate this. What is that even suppose to mean? If someone doesn't think like you, then perhaps, being non-conformist as they are, the world would be a better place without them.

Shimy, one of your problems is the fact that you said you are giving up having this conversation because you know you are not going to persaude lj into changing his viewpoint to your viewpoint. If lj would be so easily persuaded, then you wouldn't have much of a viewpoint would he? You should not feel the need to change peoples viewpoints in life, it is futile. Everyones experiences and perseptions shape the way they are, that is why no two people think exactly the same, and that is a good thing. You really want to live in a world where everyone agrees with you? That would be a dangerous world. The whole point of discussing politics for me, and why I enjoy it so much, is because I enjoy hearing other peoples point of views, and I enjoy thought provoking discussion that prompts me to think about things outside of my walls of experience.

The establishing shots of OOT compared to the '97 special edition and '04 DVDs.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I don't own any making of Star Wars books, I didn't know so many existed, and I always figured the ones that did would be so inaccurate that they wouldn't be worth it. Now I heard about Skywalking I am incredible interested in getting my hands on a copy and reading it. But from the sounds of things, there are some other pretty good ones out there. Can you guys help clarify what making of books I might ought to be interested in picking up.

Mielr mentioned Empire Building and Silverwook mentioned Once Upon a Galaxy (which sounds like it is out of print and therefore probably selling for like $600 a copy on amazon), and finally Mielr made mention of a "ROTJ book" that was good too. What is the ROTJ book? Are these the best ones out there? Any others worth looking at?

Lj, I agree with you that the baby should not be punished for the sins of his father. And I really don't think the state should be paying for the euthanization of babies. However, I don't think she should have to lose government aid on other things because she has an abortion. Abortion is still legal in the United States, therefore I do not think people who have abortions should be demonized for it. Especially since so many of them have a hard time grasping the fact that an unborn fetus is within all reason nothing other than a human life (which is because they are taught very adamantly that it isn't). For the abortion debate to go anywhere, there is a lot of educating that needs to take place. I have confidence that sometime in the distant future, abortion will be regarded as an ignorant barbaric practice, much like we see things like female gentile mutilation and feet tying today.

The fact is the world is not a prefect place, and you end up with families who don't have the means or will to take care of their family members in need. I think the government should help people when there is a genuine need. I think it goes too far some time, and leads to enabling the ones being helped. I have worked with people who think the government owes them something for nothing. That attitude bugs the crap out of me.

I think monthly drug testing and maybe even some sort of community service requirement for those out of employment who are capable of work could go along way to making sure government aid goes to those who deserve it.

Lj, does every political conversation have to be so harshly argued? You used to be much better than this. You and I are pretty close in our political views most of the time, and I agree with much of what you have said, but not the way you have said it. Everyone is entitled to their own views. Jay is a great guy, and he rarely ever engages in discussion with us. The very few times he does I am very happy to hear what he has to say, whether I agree with it or not. I think you were being a bit harsh on the guy. Your arguments (and you often have very good ones) will go over a lot better if they are more calmly presented.

I'm looking forward to the time when you can watch movies online because I hate renting them, they're always scratched, it's too expensive to buy every movie you watch, and the red box only carries movies from like up to a year ago.

Wait no longer, that time is here! Just ask the MPAA.

Yeah, I think the glory days of renting movies ended with the demise of the VHS. I used to rent movies all the time back then, though some really old movies would be worn out and have lines though them, but were still watchable. DVD on the other hand... well... I remember I kept getting free rentals at this one place because every time I'd rent a movie from them it would freeze somewhere between the middle and the end and they give me a voucher for a free rental to make up for it. I kept trying over and over again, and just about every movie I'd get from them I'd end up having to skip a couple of chapters in order to get past the unreadable parts. I eventually threw the my last voucher away. IMHO renting DVDs has always been a huge pain in the rear end and not worth it. I miss the good old glory days when I could go into my video rental store and find just about any movie ever released on home video, mine for three days for the small fee of $1.00. I used to watch so many really great old movies that will probably never see a DVD release.

Either way I don't harbor any bad feelings towards the guy and I hope the South Park guys don't do anything to extreme (though they probably will).

Like Sean said, I would not be surprised if the next episode of South Park is a tribute to him. The episode that ripped on Hayes by having chef be part of a cult that brain washes its members into becoming pedophiles ended with the note of "even though chef got brain washed into becoming a creepy pedophile, let's remember the good times we had with him." Also at the end of the episode chef redeems himself by over coming his brainwashedness and sacrifices himself to save the kids, only to be resurrected by the cult in a parody of ROTS birth of Darth Vader scene.

All this to say, I don't think Trey Parker and Matt Stone hold any real hard feelings towards Hayes, especially with the episode ending with a hint of sadness at how things turned out and Stan's speech about not blaming chef, but the cult that brainwashed him. They did rip on him pretty hard, but that was when he was still alive. Now that he is dead I am sure they will treat him with respect. If they make any statement about it at all, it will be one that puts Isaac in a positive light.

RIP Isaac Hayes
Time

Actually, South Park is pretty nice to Christians, Jews and Muslims when compared with shows like Family Guy and even The Simpsons. Jesus and God are depicted as pretty cool characters from any episodes I have ever seen (which I think is pretty much ever episode from the first ten seasons as well as a few later ones). Cartman's constant expression of hatred for the Jews is really more making fun of rampant antisemitism in American (and yeah, deny it all you want, but it is there).  The show takes kind of a believe what you want, just don't give other people a hard time about it, and don't be a dick about it stance. However, it has ripped Mormonism and Scientology pretty badly, but only really by being brutally honest about them. It got a bit harsher on Scientology with the chef episode, but only because they were given a hard time about it their first Scientology episode. They even had an episode ripping on atheists, and they are constantly ragging on liberals.

So, if you watch the Scientology episode that pissed Hayes off to start with, it is actually a really accurate primer into Scientology's beliefs, which shows what a joke they are, which is obviously why the Scientologists, Hayes included didn't like it so much.

I am sorry to hear of the guys passing. Man, he and Bernie within a week from each other... I expected both those guys to be around a lot longer.

Whoa, I think I am going to have to read Skywalking. Thanks for those quotes, sky. I really liked this quote and I think it is very true,

"Dale Pollock: I don't think he has any skill in directing good actors in any kind of film, big or small. To take talents like Samuel Jackson, Natalie Portman and Christopher Lee, and do so little with them, is almost criminal. I still don't think he enjoys directing, he only enjoys manipulating technology that doesn't talk back or have a different point of view."

As much of a movie whore Sam Jackson is these days, he is not a bad actor. A lot more could have been achieved with him than was. I do not find Natalie Portman to be all that great of an actress, but I hear she has pulled off some impressive roles since ROTS his the screens. And as for Christopher Lee, my goodness, this is where the Pollock quote rings the truest. How do you have a guy like this in your film and not throw him into as many scenes as you can? Instead George gives the guy less screen time than Ahmed Best! How does that happen? What wasted opportunities. In Ep. 3 George kills him off in his first scene, then replaces hims with a lame, over the top, 100% CG villain. Not sure how many serious writers or directors would do something like that when they have one of the greatest portrayer of villains of all time.

I also think Ewan is a pretty good actor, though in all fairness George did do a lot with him, and his scenes would have been the most entertaining to watch had they not been of the most mundane things (Ep.2 follows Jango Fett around the galaxy. Ep.3 follows General Grevious around the galaxy). Oh, that and the mullet from Ep.2, that thing was kind of hard to look at, glad when it was gone by the next film.

The 2008 '<strong>The Clone Wars</strong>' animated theatrical movie - a general discussion thread
Time

I am curious to see what the sw.com and TF.N crowd are going to come up with to explain Anakin being a Jedi Master with a Padawan in these, which clearly contradicts ROTS. Maybe in the series finale he will be demoted and his padawan will die, then all the true believers will be able to taunt us doubter by saying "See there are no plot holes!pwnd by GL!!!!hahahahahha!!!!!!1"

Kind of weird about the Clone Wars cartoon series, it is used to show how Palps got kidnapped and how Grievous went from being a real villian to a crippled coughing idiot, and yet is not cannon. Seems like since you almost have to see it for the Grevious thing in ROTS to make since that it should be more cannonical than it is. Pretty poor planning, but then again, who has time to plan when you are swimming in cash.

Is laserdisc better than VHS?
Time

Whoa, easy on the "Post" button there kid. There actually never was a format war between VHS and Laserdisc. Laserdiscs where impractical for the common consumer. They came at a later date after the VHS was already a standard. They were huge like records, and required players that were pretty expensive in comparison to a VCR. Which is why it only ever became a format for hobbyists and collectors. Also VHS had the added plus of being recordable, which made it more appealing to the average consumer; you couldn't tape the upcoming football match on a Laserdisc.

Whoa, about a million people beat me to the punch. When I first started writing this there were no replies.

You can get mentally or emotional addicted to weed, but it is not a real physical addiction. You get addicted to weed because you enjoy the effects and want to experience them all the time, or you decide you cant live your life without it. That is not a real physical addiction. You body doesn't think it needs more weed, only your mind does. Alcohol is this way as well.

I really enjoy beer a lot. I don't drink it all the time, but it is most definitely my drink of preference. On a hot day there is nothing I enjoy more than an ice cold beer (although, as has been talked about before, most beers in America are not worth touching). I drink responsibly. I never get drunk when I drink, I never even get so much as a light buzz. Because that is not what I drink for. I drink because I enjoy the taste, not for the effects of the alcohol. So beyond any shadow of doubt, it is way more than possible to drink responsibly, people do it all the time.

Ghost, why do you get such kicks out of insulting people and being an ass? I can understand not really caring what people think about you on an internet forum. It would be stupid too. But what is the reason for wanting everyone to hate you? It is very childish to use the internet forum as a mask to hid behind while you go around being an ass. Personally, I think being an ass is a hell of a lot more dangerous than using drugs of any kind. Many more "accidents" happen to asses than to drug users. You act like an ass on the internet, because you think nobody can "accidentally" break your jaw when you are hiding behind a computer screen. But your still an ass, and fewer and fewer people here like you everyday because you insult them and call them names just because you can, or because they disagree with you about a movie or video game. You may not care about that, but perhaps you should. You certainly have nothing to be proud of yourself about.

At least personally-speaking; with alcohol I want to wander off and do something ridiculous (I believe I jumped off a friend's roof into his pool once when drunk, although to be fair this roof in particular was quite close to the ground), whereas when I'm high all I want to do is sit on the couch and eat.

It is so easy to imagine a drunk long haired Nanner excitedly jumping off a roof into a swimming pool.

I have no experience with weed, but from what I hear, I definitely have the feeling alcohol is considerably more dangerous. Also, from what I understand, but again I am no expert, weed is not physically addictive like nicotine is. Which is why a guy like nanner, and many others like him, are able to light up a joint once a month or so for kicks and go back to work the next morning and continue a normal productive life (this is not to say it cannot become a serious problem for some people. Like with alcohol, once it stops becoming something you do for kicks when you are out with the guys and becomes the "solution" to life's problems, then you are looking at trouble).

Alright Erik, I know you did it! I know you found a way to travel trans-dimensionally, and you fetched yourself a copy of this bad boy! You can stop playing like it is just a hypothetical game! Your a genius man! I had never thought of going through the trouble of inventing such a thing. It is so obvious now, for every way something happens there are an infinite number of ways it didn't happen, it stands to reason that there would be countless universes in which Star Wars totally blew. I know it is against forum rules to break trans-dimensional copyright laws by mailing out some DVD-Rs of this thing, so I am not going to ask that of you. So, please, can you send me a copy of blueprints for your trans-dimensional traveling vessel?

One last question, have you had a chance to watch it yet? Are there any subtle differences between this version of the film and the version from our universe?

Did people really commit suicide over GL's decisions of the PT?
Time

Sounds like pure BS to me. I am pretty sure Lucas didn't really release false news either. Any news from official channels is typically taken very seriously. Had they really released a mock up teaser poster for Episode III featuring unrealistic amounts of Jar Jar, it is likely to have received a good deal of buzz, but yet it didn't get so much as a post here. Same thing for the 100% CG Anakin (which would have been good news for me, probably would have been an improvement). Also, had any of these things really happened, they would be documented somewhere. The Jar Jar poster would be easily found online, and some quote about the nonsensical choice to make Anakin 100% while all other actors remained live action would also surely be an easy find. People get good kicks out of well pulled off hoaxes and tend to remember them, if a hoax cost 8 people their lives, then you can bet the internet wouldn't soon forget about it.

The short of it, no none of these things ever happened.

Come on. What is the point in attacking Sky like this? He makes posts like this all the time. Plenty of people are guilty of making pointless posts. So what? If you do not care to read what he has to say, why not just not read his posts. We have an ignore button now? You can simply click the "ignore this user button" and all his posts just go away. Why waste your time fighting with him when he didn't even do anything to you? Honestly, are you just looking for a fight? This is unnecessary.

Now that I once again stepped into somebody else's fight, I will probably end up with another thread accusing me of jerking off to homosexual porn. Kind of shows the maturity level of this place. Disappointing.

He wasn't joking, he spelled it that way multiple times. I didn't really mean to pick on him about it, I just thought it was funny in the context. I make more than my fair share of spelling mistakes on these forums. The fact he misspelled that doesn't make him any less intelligent in my eyes, we all make spelling mistakes sometimes. You certianly don't need to rub it in and make it worse. And I really don't see how lying about it wouldn't have made him seem wittier, just would have made him seem like he was obviously lying to cover up his mistake.

As far as trying to defend yourself against conservative? Why? Are we attacking you in a way you need defense? You are the one who started this thread in order to state that you thought the people on this site where smart, but that you must have been mistaken because there are so many conservative here. In other words you pretty much said, smart is not compatible with conservative.

Perhaps you should stop considering people of different political views than yourself as unintelligent.

If you decide to engage in political discussion with one of us idiot conservatives, you ought not need help to defend yourself with your superior liberal intellect.

The only way to really have political discussion is with an open mind. As I was trying to say in one of my other posts, I'd really like you (or somebody) to convince me to change my political view points (which I often do when I hear a good argument), I am open minded and willing to change, if I see a reason to (which as far as the liberal side goes, I rarely see arguments that standup beyond a single narrow point of view, Global Warming being a part of a classic example of this).
