A short trailer for the edit, a bit of fun really.
A short trailer for the edit, a bit of fun really.
I’m also putting together somewhat of a “Complete Workprint” that includes the Alt. Opening, extended Fathier chase, extended Phasma encounter and the small “Go Round Back” moment on Crait. I haven’t been able to put the Paige scene back yet, it might yet fit somewhere.
Currently it runs at 2:46:26, a bit under 5 minutes longer than the regular Expanded Edition.
Here’s the extra Crait bit, not sure about the music, might need to replace it or just extend it somehow, anyone know if there is a track just like it that would fit?
And the end of the Phasma fight, now extended a little with more of the unfinished VFX. I have replaced Phasma’s SE-44C blaster with the correct SFX as well
I’ve rendered out a small 5gb version of the Expanded cut without the Phasma scene if anyone would like it, for feedback if anything. I can do a full BD-25 encode if desired too
Nice! The closeup of Phasma climbing up could stay though, no? I mean there is the continuity issue, but is there a way to make that work? And the shot of her falling into flames?
I’m still working out the editing, so hopefully the falling shot works. But I don’t know if the close up quite works, I can try and tinker but I’m not sure.
Here’s a first pass at removing the Phasma tracking dots.
Doing some tests now to fix up the matte lines even more, and removing the tracking dots. Looks surprising well in motion.

I’ve done my best to try and integrate the deleted Phasma scene, and it’s a little tricky as the scene was reshot, so the continutity doesn’t line up completely. I’ve done some colour work just to try and make the compositing look better, mostly removing the matte lines around the characters. If I were to finalise this, I’d do more work trying to remove Phasma’s red tracking dots

Honestly I’d love to use just the sauna bit of the Fathier chase, but it’s those 2 shots of Rose and Finn crashing down that kill it for me sadly. I wasn’t a fan of the way ebumms cut to black for that scene, so sadly it’s on the cutting room floor.
I feel that the unfinished CG backgrounds in the Bite scene work a little better and are far less distracting than the mostly untextured Fathiers.

As somewhat of a follow-up to my ROTS Expanded Edition, this one extended Episode VIII to it’s longest running time (with finished VFX). ebumms has already done his own extended cut, but this differs slightly. His included a portion of the longer Fathier chase, which had unfinished CGI, while I won’t opt to use that. I’ve also used a portion of the extended opening, Rose biting Hux and “Where We Belong” as he did not. The “Luke Mourn” scene transitions to Leia as it does in Rekindled unlike his cut going from Luke mourning to his daily routine. Similar to his cut however is the inclusion of almost all of the Canto Bight B-Roll, so those who hate that subplot might dislike this edit. Anywho, here’s a full list.
ADDITIONS
Theatrical - 2:31:51
Expanded - 2:41:57

Here’s the snippet from the Alt. Opening
And the Rose/Hux scene. It’s not 100% but I feel it’s finished enough to fit in.
I’m not too sure if there is anything from any Trailer, TV Spot, or the other Blu-Ray BTS stuff that could be put in. As far as I’m aware, the only thing from the trailers that didn’t end up going in was Rey on the beach but that has been put in as apart of the Third Lesson. If anyone knows of any other stuff that can be put back in, I’d love to hear about it.
On another note, I’m not entirely sure what the new version contains compared to the one from August. It says it has like 500+ more MB of data but nothing changed drastically. Is this because of an AI upscale of the deleted scenes?
Some new audio fixes, a bit of work putting in some upscaled shots, just general fixes here and there that bugged me.
I’ve created a concept for an opening to a Phantom Menace one of these, that I’ll probably do down the line, once this is done and out in the world
Has anyone got another VHS recording of the TV cut? Specifically the shop scene as the recording I’ve got at the moment is terrible quality and is blown out. I’m looking into getting the footage upscaled, and can’t do it with what I’ve currently got.

And if anyone does want this extended cut, I’ve got an edit in the works combining the DVD and VHS footage into the Blu-Ray for an extended cut. More info here
Attempted to put the librarian talking about Dooku back into AOTC, as the BR scene is quite rough. Quality wise, it needs some kind of deblocking and sharpening to work with the film, but it’s not a bad scene itself, just terrible quality.
I would’ve really liked if you had kept the “You still have much to learn, that’ll never hold” “Ok, I still have much to learn, let’s go” thing in the whole edit, I really love that exchange. You could’ve just cut the shot in space with unfinished CG and I think it would’ve worked fine.
Sadly it doesn’t work as there is a gap between them walking through the fuel tanks as it’s at ankle height, and then they’re submurged up to their necks, the continutiy doesn’t match up and I can’t figure out a way to cut around it.
If anyone finds a way to do so, I’d happily include it in a workprint of sorts
Here’s another link, should work alright
Turns out I messed the audio up more, but it’s now fixed again. The same link should work as normal with an update file.
Here are those almost 8 minutes of unfinished scenes that I fixed up as best I could with some audio work and mild visual fixes. Some can’t be used and other definitly can be. Is a workprint cut with some of the scenes something that is desired?
I’ve found another featurette and now the running time is topping 2:51:41, and I’ve got to ask; is this release better done as a single feature, or as a chapter structre detailed earlier for ease of watching as I know many people can feel like almost 3 hours is a bit of a slog.
I’ve scrubbed through it again and cleaned up somethings and I’m assuming it’s ready for a final release and completion is nearing.
Did any of the previewers have feedback before I finalise this?
I’ve put in a bit of dough into the pot, hopefully it can help out
Alright v1.1 is now up, both on TSWT forum and avalible via PM.
I’ve gotta be honest, I really don’t notice anything different with the newest version of the Shaak Ti scene…
It still seems like everybody’s voices are coming from the right channel.
I don’t know what the hell happened with the channel mapping, but I finally fixed everything. I’ve updated the original folder with the fixed audio track now, and I guarantee it’s fixed this time.
I’ve gotten the DTS to sync up and am now uploading a 32gb copy of v1.1 to Mega. I’ll leave it on overnight and hope it’s done by the morning.
After this will be starting on the Puppet Yoda version and getting that all to fit in with the BR, which may be a pain to do but we’ll see.
EDIT: I just noticed a missing shot as the Trade Feds approach Naboo. Looks like I’ll be rendering out another copy…
With a v1.1, I’ll be putting it out in 5.1 using the track included with ZigZig’s LD, which I’m assuming it’s the Cinema DTS as I don’t have it otherwise.
No, I believe the cinema DTS is different. I have it. I’ll PM you.
Is it synced to anyone’s own project or anything else for that matter? I can’t seem to get it to work with my project. I’m assuming it’s still synced to a 24fps timecode or something for that matter.
Thanks for all the kind words about v1, the Palpatine office shot is my only annoyance with the project. I’ve experimented with adding 35mm grain to the BR so that it flows a little more smoothly, and so that the mild waxiness is toned down.
With a v1.1, I’ll be putting it out in 5.1 using the track included with ZigZig’s LD, which I’m assuming it’s the Cinema DTS as I don’t have it otherwise. A larger bitrate would also be included, somewhere around 35gb or larger. Grain would also be added as mentioned to allow everything to mesh together.
Are there any differences between this and the film we got is 05?
There’s a time code at the top of the frame, and the end credits are cut off. There’s also some pre-roll stuff as well as a countdown timer

why you don´t use DrDre´s color correction tool?
I didn’t want it to match as it should have a unique (somewhat) colour timing. Plus, it’s very time consuming to match every shot up. I colour matched one shot and then adjusted it so the whole film looked a bit more uniform.
Also, this is now uploaded and can be accessed via PMs.
I’ve restarted work on this project armed with a few new sources and the newest Blu-Ray. I’ve also used the BR footage to fit the theatrical podrace, instead of dropping the bonus feature straight in. The only remaining footage is 2 short shots of the crowd and Watto. The new BR also includes hard-coded subtitles, which are close enough to my recreation for me to be happy with.
CHANGES
I’ve rendered out a v1, with the CG Yoda as a test. I’ll upload it if there is is intrest for anyone.
Another Revenge of the Sith project, as this one tackles the leaked workprint. The file that has been floating around for years is the original 2.35:1 video squashed into 1.33:1 for ease of space in the mid 2000s. However, it’s just about unwatchable these days along with the poor contrast and washed out look, so in the same vein as my AOTC Centropy “Remastered”, I wanted to make the original file into something viewable in contempary times, but it’s no where near perfect HD quality, hense the “remastering”
I got the original file, which was in this 4:3 file

So I stretched it back to 2.35

And coloured it, using the blu-ray as a guide to where it should look, but not trying to match it completely

The colour is obviously not accurate in anyway to the BR, but of course it will differ in some way.
I’ve also resized it into 720p, just so there isn’t any lost detail.
A few more screenshots

I’ll be uploading this soon enough, for those who are interested, you will be able to PM me for it
