Harmy's THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK Despecialized Edition HD - V2.0 - MKV & AVCHD (Released)
Time

The only thing that bothered me were the lightsaber halos that were mentioned already.

But with the better source material and improved Harmy-powers, I have great faith in the boy that this won't be an issue in 2.0

The look of the sabers is the only reason that Adywan's Theatrical Reconstruction is my preferred version of Empire rather than DeEd 1.0

Myself and a few others here got a nice "Cease and Desist" email a few years ago about a project on this site which proves that LucasFilm know about this site and the things taking place here.

Which project?!

I find it interesting that the films listed in the email are in order of release (4,5,6,1,2,3) and not in Uncle George's preferred 1-6 order. Not important, it just struck me.

I'd just like to say thanks again, I got a chance to look at the AVCHD now and it's simply breathtaking!

And I'd like to add that rather than being 'upset that I have to download it again' to have the current incarnation of the Despecialized Edition, I feel spoiled that you're taking even more of your time to fix a few more things (however minor they may be). Each new version is an improvement over the last and I'll gladly use more of my bandwidth to obtain for myself and help seed for others this outstanding gift to the fans.

Harmy, Hairy_Hen, and others have devoted countless hours of their lives to fixing these films purely out of the goodness of their hearts, asking for nothing in return.

Just sayin the 'sherlock' comments aren't going to make anyone want to help you.

*Typed this before the above apology was posted. Good to see we're all playing nice :)

A little selfish but I hope it doesn't go "Viral" before the 32mm scans are out. We wanna avoid "Imperial" entanglements.

I'm hoping for 35mm scans myself. Those extra 3mm are on the edge of the frame, but they're still part of the movie!  ;)

But srsly, there are prints of the original theatrical films in good hands: members of this forum, private collectors, universities... they will be preserved.

I bear no ill will toward Lucas himself, however misguided his actions toward these movies are. But once he is no longer actively involved in the fate of these films (which will likely be many years in the future, but will happen eventually), I have no doubt that the originals will come back to the forefront and get a proper legitimate release. It's up to us to keep the flame alive until then.

star wars IS SAFE NOW.

Thank the maker.

As impressed as I am by Harmy's recent Despecialized v2, knowing that a scan of the actual 100% real deal exists is extremely gratifying.

Star Wars is too important to the history of cinema to stand by and let it suffer the fate of Metropolis, which has only recently been rescued from its own butchering and almost completely preserved 80 years after its initial release.

I don't know if it's related, but the 5.1 sound on my DVD-5 would occasionally make a weird static blurp (always in the same places; it did it twice during the opening crawl)... so I muxed in the mix I had from Dark Jedi's v3 and that seemed to work fine. But at the same time my DVD player has been acting strange lately (all my Samsung products seem to be turning against me) so I'm not sure if it's some compatibility issue or my player being an ass, or if it was actually in the mix. But since it's being re-encoded anyway I'll try it again with the new file and see what happens.

Trust me, this isn't even near being the worst example :-)

Indeed. After watching the DeED V1 of Jedi a few times and going back to the 2004 DVD to check something, the colors made my eyes cry. It was just all wrong! I too knew that the colors weren't right, but didn't realise how bad it was until you came along :P
