I downloaded the audio and synced it to my official DVD sometime last year,so if there is only an HD torrent and anyone here is looking for a standard DVD then i might be able to help

My favorite thing to come frome the prequels is Backstroke of the West.

And I do still enjoy the lightsaber fights in Phantom Menace.

I want to see a black comedy about a young Piett, who keeps getting promoted because the people around him die.

The idea of them being siblings, if the thought had crossed Lucas' mind by then, could possibly explain why a different take of their kissy kissy was used rather than the hot tonsil hockey version I saw in one of the old trailers. Maybe they left it in but toned it down. Of course that assumes Lucas was thinking that far ahead.

If the 2004 DVD commentaries are indeed going to be part of the Despecialized v2 trilogy, I'll be a happy camper. Kershner's senile ramblings on ESB are priceless!

And speaking of Carrie Fisher in Empire... I know Leia and Luke didn't know they were siblings at the time of the kissy kissy incident, but I'd have to say if my sister looked like her, I'd hit that.

I haven't really seen any mention of Billy Dee Williams. The new republic needs a smooth operator!

This is rather troubling.

I am quite optimistic that properly restored originals will see the light of day, but likely not until after Episode 9 is out at best.

Meanwhile, so much damage has been done that it'll be interesting to see how the younger generation reacts to having the originals back on the scene in good quality.

Once we achieve interstellar travel, we can just go back in time and stop Lucas from ever making the Special Editions. We all know that black holes are time portals, after all.

For me, the seeds were planted around '97 or '98 when I was 16 or 17ish and, having recently bought the Special Edition VHS box set, decided I wanted to own both versions and set out to buy the originals, only to find that they'd been discontinued.

I was still wowed by the SE and was disappointed but accepting of them being all I could get ahold of.

Over time, the luster of the SE's wore down and I came across laserdisc bootlegs on DVD and was satisfied for a time.

But the straw that broke the camel's toe was the blatant disrespect shown toward the originals in the 2006 GOUT DVD's.

It can with an Abrams or Michael Bay helmed American reboot of Doctor Who!

Just imagine the explosions, shaky-cam, and lens flares we could get out of a Dalek invasion. And that Call Box needs updating. The only thing of similar size and shape in widespread use in the US I can think of at the moment is a porta-potty. I'm crossing my fingers!

I don't think it was exactly filler. It did serve the purpose of putting our heroes on the run again rather than allowing them to stay in hiding. However, there had to have been less silly ways of accomplishing it that would have been more plausible even within the silliness of the Star Wars universe.

Empire is still my favourite movie of all time, and its ending is my second favourite of any movie ending (second only to Back to the Future II), but despite personal preference I'd dare say that Star Wars is indeed a better film. It's just fun and uplifting, not taking itself too seriously but never stooping to the goofiness of the prequels.

Star wars was intended to be a fun, feelgood adventure story, standing apart in a time of dark serious films. And then its sequel ended up being more dark and serious. So in a way, Empire sort of betrayed the mission of the original film. But as I said, it is still my personal favourite and an awesome movie that did outshine its predecessor in terms of visual splendor and, in my opinion, music (and Yoda was an amazing achievement)

The tragic story of Porkins... Hopeful young pilot in the Imperial Fleet, betrayed and framed by his peers, cast out with no hope and no future, develops an eating disorder and an addiction to death sticks. Finally he finds the rebel alliance and a reason to live... to take revenge on the Empire. The gripping tale of a broken man given one last chance and going down in a blaze of glory... almost.

I loved the new Star Trek and currently have high hopes for SW7. I just hope Abrams shows a little restraint regarding lens flare. I know he gets off on it and all (just watch the bonus features on Trek) but in the event of a lightsaber fight we won't be able to see a damn thing.

(but seriously I thought it was a bad idea to give Yoda amd Palpatine lightsabers. In the OT they were above that. It lowered them. Should have been more like Gandalf vs Saruman.)

I for one would love a movie about Yoda's early days for no other reason than to see him with a beautifully animated flowing mane of CG hair.

My hopes for VII just skyrocketed.

Toy Story 3? Little Miss Sunshine? Both incredible films that are quite funny when appropriate and do a great job at dicking with your heart strings.

The prequels lacked good writing and respect for the OT above all else in my opinion, so I think we're off on the right foot!

I wouldn't want a new SW film to be an adaptation of an EU book.

And I must say, if Mark Hamill is back my emthusiasm for this project will skyrocket. (and I'm sure Disney knows this)

But anyway, after the Emperor's stranglehold on the galaxy, his sudden absense would leave a power vacuum, with the remnants of the Empire likely splitting into factions. (like the scattering in Dune after Leto II's demise)

Competing Imperial groups fighting amongst themselves while also trying to undermine the New Republic and prevent the 'return of the jedi' would make for a good story with multiple villains.

That's what I think, anyway

I don't think the Emperor ever had any plans on sharing or giving up power. I'd say the closest thing he had to an heir was Vader, who he seems to view more as a pet, like a guard dog.

I'd love to see Piett pick up the reigns, but that's not an option. He was my favourite minor character.

I personally think Disney will focus entirely on new content for the next 8 years. New films in 2015, 2017, and 2019. Each will have its own home video release.

Then, in 2020 (assuming the distribution rights for the originals goes to Disney as I've read) they'll pull the others out of "the vault" amd release a 9 film box set with (hopefully) the unaltered restored OT as an added hook.
