It would be really cool if Obi-wan stopped calling vader "Darth".   Maybe remove this and modify his face so he doesnt move his mouth?

"You are under arrest, Chancellor."

"Good morning, Doctor."

"Welcome, Mr. President."

People call others by their title all the time. There's no problem there.

I do realize that there are a lot of pages to go through so you may have missed it, but Adywan already said the old voice will be restored, because the line readings were better and the original voice was more menacing. (And keep in mind that Leia and Anakin both had different voices with their helmets on :)

Star Wars: Renascent *** NOW AVAILABLE!!! ***
Time

Sounds interesting. I've always thought a "Highlander" version of Star Wars would be cool, with the OT as the main story but using key sections of the PT as flashbacks to flesh it out more.

I've even considered trying to tackle it myself, trying to maybe streamline it all into one 3 hour epic movie, but I'm not sure how much I could squish it to make a coherent narrative out of 6 films.

When I was a kid, TBS's showing of the Trilogy during thanksgiving or christmas (or both, I forget which) was always one of the highlights of my holiday season.

By the way, Bingowings,

Making our own 35mm preservation--my crazy proposal
Time

Wow, it says Roddy Mcdowall's collection was raided in 1974. Yet theatrical films didn't even BEGIN to show up on home video until November 1977. (source: http://www.entmerch.org/industry_history.html)

So it's not like the film companies were losing money by him not going to the store and picking up a copy on video. Unless he was showing them publicly and charging admission, they should have left him alone. Jerks.

Side note - notice how I used "effect" and "affect" each properly in the same sentence?  That's one of my internet pet peeves...people who mix and match words and spelling because they're too lazy to learn the right way.  If there was some way I could get paid for it, I could make a million $ a year just running around the internet correcting spelling and grammar mistakes.

Heh, just like people using apostrophe's to make words plural.  And yes, I realize that I just did that in my last sentence.  Doesn't it look foolish?

Anyway, getting back to ESB, I forgot all about that door that closes behind Luke.  That's always bugged me.  What slow reaction time Luke has.  No wonder Vader whooped him.  That door closes, and like 30 seconds later he whips around to look at it.  (by the way, in the suggestion terminal it lists that as "Fix Jump-cut of steal gate doors closing behind Luke."  Unless Luke is going to chop off the doors and run off with them in this version, it should be "steel gate." I know, I'm a pain.  I'll stop now :P )

ady, i read on another thread that apparantly on the 2004 release, that scenes during battles of people being shot were shortened as not to offend younger viewers. i wasnt aware of this, but have you restored any of these in your IV and V edits?

That's always puzzled me. They shorten a few shots of people getting blasted in ANH in order to 'not offend', but just look at what happened to Mr. Burned and Crispy Anakin in Revenge of the Sith. I realize that Sith is rated PG-13, but still... Lucas wants us to watch them in order from 1-6, right?

Why was the '04 DVD set such a botched release?
Time

The 2004 DVD's are a disappointment to say the least, and the 2006 GOUT discs, while they look 'alright' on a standard 4:3 TV, are an insult not only to the fans but also to the achievements of Lucas himself and ILM.

However, my SW prequel DVD's, Willow, and Indiana Jones trilogy all look and sound great. So yeah, I wouldn't say that they simply don't care about about quality.

However, I would like to hear any excuses that Lucasfilm has as to why the 2004 SE set isn't up to par since, after all, those DVD's are supposed to be the best representation of those films available.  I'm sure SOMEBODY at LFL had to have noticed that something wasn't quite right. I was excited when I heard that it was being restored, and that some of the SE additions (like that funky 1997 CG Jabba) were being redone or tweaked, but now I wish they would have just released the 97 SE masters as they were and just left everything alone.

I still remember seeing Luke trip Vader with his lightsaber in ROTJ, but I know I couldn't have. Memory is a fickle mistress.

As for the generator, adding a power loss for a second would be cool, but then who's to say that there wasn't a separate generator dedicated solely to the shield. It certainly would be important enough for that to be the case.

It's really exciting to hear of this kind of stuff falling into the hands of those who really care about and want to preserve them.

I just hope the legal quagmires of such things don't end up in having them forcefully removed from your posession, since your intentions are not to profit, but to spread love and joy.

Sigh... If only George Lucas was as proud of the original films as he should be, this wouldn't be an issue.
