Very good news on the whole (aside from the whole computer crash and hurricane stuff obviously)

Sounds interesting if you can pull off getting any alternate footage and deleted scenes from the OT to be acceptable quality for reinsertion.
Have you done any CG work before?
sketchrob said:Well, say what you want about the Celebration ending to ROTJ, but I would have preferred to see a Hoth celebration with Wampa's dancing and a Tauntan Feast ;)
Be careful what you wish for ;)
There's still time before the eventual Blu-Ray release for them to add Kamino, Mustafar, Dagobah, Hoth, Geonosis, Kashyyk, The Worm in his Asteroid, and maybe even a couple people camping on the debris of Alderaan to the ending celebration.
Quoth the quail: "A quart for the Queen to quench her thirst?"
:P
Due to my having a piddly little stereo sound setup, I'd never fully experienced the horrors of the 2004 ANH sound mix. And thanks to Adywan, I need not be subjected to it in the future.
With ESB, I've heard the surround mix isn't AS bad, so hopefully minor tweaking will be all that's needed.
That screenshot looks very pretty. I'll have to look into how to apply this when I have time.
I see 1 teaser poster and 2 wallpapers
I see them and they are pretty.
I was thinking more along the lines of "If the colors do not appear to be correct, then please use the THX optimizer included on your DVD"

The DS conference does mention that 'until this station is fully operational, we are vunerable' so that might be enough of a rider to assume or imply that the DSII is, in fact, the same one as in ANH...?
Good idea. And I forgot about that "we are vulnerable" line. That implies that not everything is finished, so they could still need the shield on Endor while the construction is completed, even if they take a hiatus to run off to Alderaan and blow it up. I'd just need to cut out the lines in Jedi stating the weapons aren't operational.
Do you remember the guy's name or a company name Adywan? We could scour the interwebs, leaving no tube unturned, to see if this guy has a website.
Maybe we should try sending a letter to LFL to see what kind of response we get. Just asking them why the colors changed from the '97 SE. It would be interesting what their PR department comes up with.
I wonder if there's any way to get an honest answer as to whether it was something to do with Lowry restoration algorithms running rampant, or LFL trying to 'modernise' the look but doing it half-assed.

You all arr right and I was wrong. I just hope when the blu-ray version comes out the audio on Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope is fixed.
In his defense, in another thread he did admit that on closer examination he realised it is screwed up after all.
Those are some great ideas. I'll have to do some hardcore pondering over them to figure things out. I was originally planning on cutting the reference to a homing beacon, and just having them escape the Death Star in ANH, flee to Hoth, and then be discovered by the probe droid.
Although the homing beacon could also be used as the reason the Imperials know they're going to Bespin, thus allowing me to disregard any and all bounty hunters if I did leave out Han being frozen.
So far I just have the first 40 min of ANH and 35 min of TPM condensed into about 35 min or thereabouts, so I'll have a little time before I get too much into that quagmire.
Johnny Ringo said:yes but it can't really appear to be the same DS - unless they decided to strip away a lot of the outer shell for some reason. The DS1 is complete when we see it, the DS 2 is not.
As far as that goes, it would be easy enough to replace any exterior shots of the DS1 with the DS2 (at least most of them) without recompositing anything.
The idea of the first attack only blowing up part of the DS and then going to Endor to make repairs also sounds interesting. I may have to look into that. I'd still rather just have 1 attack on the Death Star, at the very end, but I'm not sure if that will be possible. (Unless maybe the DS leaves the safety of Endor temporarily to destroy Alderaan, and then goes back again)
Yeah, Fox or Lucasfilm themselves won't do anything for you, especially since they refuse to admit there's anything wrong.
But as stated above, Adywan's Star Wars Revisited would be the way to go I'd say. It's what the Special Edition should have been. As close to perfect as one could get with the available resources in terms of visuals and sound.
Here's a link to its page on fanedit.org as well: http://fanedit.org/517/
It's perfectly legal to download it as long as you own the source material (the 2004 official DVD)
I decided a few days ago that it would be fun (although rather challenging) to attempt editing all 6 Star Wars films (it seems funny referring to AOTC and ROTS af ‘films’ when they were shot digitally 😃 into a single epic movie.
What I’m aiming for is to streamline them and cut out any fluff so as to come in around the 3 hour mark, keeping a “Highlander” style going with the OT as the main story and flashbacks containing the PT story.
Also, 2 Death Stars in one movie would be redundant, so if I can find a way to do it and still make sense, I’d like to have only one Death Star. Of course, this is where I hit a little snag as far as the plot goes. If I leave in the destruction of Alderaan, (and therefore remove any reference in Jedi to the DS not being operational) then why in Bob’s name would the DS go back to Endor and set up a shield around it? But on the other hand, if I cut out the Alderaan boom and leave it so the DS isn’t operational until the end, then how would it make sense for the Falcon to end up aboard the Ds for them to rescue Leia? Any suggestions or comments regarding this dilemma would be appreciated.
I’ll add more info and clips and such later as I progress.
It sold a lot of copies because it's Star Wars on DVD.
Having not seen the DVD's before I bought them, it wasn't until I got home and popped them in that I saw things like the 'blue' lightsabers randomly turning anywhere from green to purple depending on the shot.
Haven't you ever been disappointed with anything? It's like ordering a sausage pizza, but when you get it home and open it, you find out it's pepperoni. It's still pizza, but not what you were expecting.
The wobbling finger was a deliberate descision made to help Yoda appear extremely old. He has "Jedi Osteoporosis" and his bones aren't what they used to be.
doubleofive, do you have to rub Adywan's lamp for him to follow your suggestions?
darth_scourge said:Turguise? Turquoise I guess you mean :-) That's how the colour should be spelled.
I think "Turguise" may actually be the correct term in this case, since the turquoise is disguising the original colors :P
Turquoise + Disguise = Turguise!
And of course, the other half of the battle is VIOLENCE!
bkev said:Man! The 04 tint is so obvious, that even a program that comes with my computer knows its wrong when it "color-corrects" it.
Wow, Lucasfilm DVD mastering pwned by bundled software!
kenkraly2007 said:adywan I am feel your frustration but to call me and other people that are star wars fans idiots that's not right. And by you saying lucasfilm does'nt care about the fans that's wrong if they did'nt care we whould not have the star wars films on dvd to begin with. But you don't care if lucasfilm puts the films on blu-ray becuse people like you like to bash Lucas and pick on the guy. That's class-less in my opinion.
If they really cared that much they would have gone through the DVD masters before releasing them to make sure things like the picture and sound were up to par. After all, the picture and sound is really about all there is to a DVD. And we'd also have a thoroughly cleaned, restored, and anamorphic GOUT. It really seems like they put as little effort as possible into the DVD releases.
The menus look great though, I'll give them that.
Janskeet said:Has anyone contacted LFL personally or even better yet, George Lucas about the whole coving up the OT and the errors in the '04 DVDs? Its sounds like a few have. Is there an email that gets me to speak directly to LFL and George Lucas?
No, but Lucasfilm's PR department will be happy to send you back a patronizing form letter and feed you BS about how it just isn't possible to do a decent restoration of the theatrical version of one of the all-time greats in film history, all the while skirting the issue of what went wrong with the SE restorations and trying to sound like they actually care what you think.
