Yes, sorry CA, but it was a soundtrack for the book, which is what made it so weird. (felt like a bit of a cash grab, honestly) I remember it well, and I still have my copy. That CD has nothing to do with the game other than the name.

Soundtracks to non-existant movies reminds me of a mix tape I made when I was 12. I called it "Kung Fu: The Movie Soundtrack" and it had all songs related to fighting.

Depends how the sensors work. Maybe they're just detecting relative motion, something moving at a different speed than the Falcon itself. The TIEs set off an alarm beause they were moving faster than the Falcon. Fett matched the Falcon's speed, so relatively speaking, there was nothing there.

Heh, the Falcon's eyesight is based on motion. Don't make any sudden movements and it won't see you!

It pains me not being able to donate anything to the cause. Curse my family's need for food and shelter!

Hopefully I can help at least a little before you have everything. I'd feel like a leech if I get all this Star Warsy enjoyment without having helped at all.

and Vaderios, you better keep any Transformers related comments sufficiantly cryptic; if you spoil any plot for me I'm gonna force-kick you, just like in that animated ROTJ image! ;)

I think I like his training on Dagobah better the way it is actually. We can naturally assume that Luke has been training with his saber, likely on his own beforehand and some with Yoda later.

But I like that the main focus of his training seems to be mental/spiritual. Yoda knows that Luke will eventually find out who Vader really is, and wants Luke's psyche to be able to withstand that without losing his cool or succumbing to the same failings as Anakin.

It seemed apparent to me (before the PT) that Yoda and the Emperor both had reached a level of force prowess where a saber was no longer necessary. Yoda of course would want Luke to be able to defend himself, but his main focus should be mind over matter.

Kind of like the Bride's training in Kill Bill 2, most of it is non-combat.

Reliance on weapons is also one way in which we see growth in Luke between ESB and ROTJ. Three times in ROTJ we see Luke in a threatening situation unarmed, having willingly given up his saber, once in each act.

One thing that's always seemed not quite right to me during the Bespin escape is right after the Slave I takes off. C3PO says "Chewie, they're behind you!" and you can see Lando in the background chilling out and stretching or something, then suddenly laser blasts fire, completely missing these stationary targets and then they all jump out of the way and start running again. It makes the stormtroopers seem even more incompetent.

I know there's this "nobody ever listens to C3PO" thing going on throughout the film, but it might make more sense to delay his line delivery slightly if possible, so that it looks like he warns them and they start moving again just in time to avoid the blasts, rather than have them snap out of it and take off after a few rounds completely miss them when nobody's even moving.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

When I was recently sent a postcard asking me if I would be attending my upcoming 10 year high school class reunion, I created a new email account and, rather than respond to the postcard, just sent them an anonymous email directing them to download Revisited.

Whilst trying to decide which email address to create, I discovered that adyfan@hotmail.com is taken. I wonder if it means Adywan fan or something else entirely?

Anyone have any ideas when Ady will be on next?

I don't think anyone here knows that. He's a mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a...something else that's mysterious-like.

Yeah... it's always a mystery.

(by the way, at about 2:32 in that video... I bet that's what Adywan's Wampa looks like.)

Star Wars: One Death Star to Rule Them All (6 become 1) (* unfinished project *)
Time

I've finally somewhat lit a fire under me bum to work on this some more. I was using Womble, which worked mostly fine for my purposes, but was very disappointed in its lack of feathering on the wipes (which left any attempt at a wipe looking amateurish at best). That, combined with the fact that my job takes up 13 hours a day, 5 days a week led to little progress.

But having recently obtained myself some Sony Vegas, it looks like the feathered wipe issue is solved. I've heard good things about 'what happens in Vegas' and at first glance it seems to allow more manipulation of 5.1 audio.

So I'm gonna try to pick this up again.

I've been working a bit on streamlining the footage I'm using from ANH and TPM right now. "There's one, set for stun!" - ZAP - "She'll be alright, Inform Lord Vader we have a prisoner." --- Hmm, you set for stun, so do you really need to say she'll be alright? No? Delete! Trimming that line only saved me 2 seconds, but given enough instances of redundant and unnecessary dialogue over 6 movies it adds up quick. Some major trimming of the fat must be done to make this watchable in one sitting. I may also, if it ends up having to be split over 2 DVD's, start the 2nd disc with the intermission from 2001: A Space Oddesey. Why? Just a foolish whim. I'm already using the 20th Century Fox logo from the Daredevil DVD (with the narrator describing what is showing up on screen.) I have some eccentric tendencies.

I've also been toying with an idea I've seen in an Episode III edit. Adding a few disembodied lines from Qui-Gon. Not sure if it'll work so I'll make a quick rough version to test it, but I thought I could add a tiny bit to Yoda's hut in the ESB section. When Yoda is making excuses and Obi-Wan says Luke will learn patience, perhaps Qui Gon could chime in with "He is headstrong, but I foresee he will become a great Jedi Knight" - peiced together with lines that will be skipped over from elsewhere. Just a thought, and again I'd have to see it in context to judge if it fits into the flow of the movie up to that point.

One last thing for today; here's a low-res preview of the front of the DVD cover I whipped up.

But I swore during the final attack on the death star, right after Lando says "Split up and head back to the surface," there was a shot with the garbage mattes still there. Was that not even fixed in '04?

Sadly... no. They're certainly less noticeable than on the GOUT, but still there. (even though they supposedly recomposited these things in '97... or was that just the Hoth battle where they made that claim?)

Which is why I am eternally grateful to people like Adywan who have the knowhow and ambiton to fix these things for them.

Info Wanted: When they restored Star Wars for the '04 DVDs...
Time

That's one reason I don't agree with those that say Lucas is only in it for the money.

If that were the case, there would have been an early DVD release with the '97 SE, then later on they would have done their "restoration" box-set release with the 2004 revisions, and THEN the next release with the GOUT. And there would already be a Blu-Ray release. Waiting until the next format is almost ready to take over before releasing the movies doesn't reek of wanting all our money.

But that begs the question of what exactly Lucas' motives were in waiting so long in releasing the OT on DVD, and then doing it without bothering to make sure the quality is up to par.

It sounds like Adywan is going to end up having started his own FX company by the time the saga is finished.

Info & Ideas: ESB and ROTJ Wishlist

Yeah, I've always found the child indoctrination thing from Phantom Menace to be particularly unsettling.

To begin training at that age for such a harsh and dangerous lifestyle... a child is in no state to make that sort of decision; there's no way they could fully understand what it entails. And for their parents or the Jedi to decide for them is cruel and irresponsible.

In ESB, Yoda says Luke is too old to begin the training. At the time I took that to mean Jedi training should begin in a person's late teens as opposed to the mid-twenties or so that Luke seems to be, not that training begins as a toddler.
