STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

I discovered my wife's friend was a "Star Wars virgin" so we set up a movie night and watched ANH Revisited last night.

Her response was that it's "cute." That's a compliment, by the way. She especially enjoyed the easter eggs on the DVD-9, and was wowed by the extended Alderaan boom-boom sequence.

Exactly! You know that R2 is told to watch his language a few times, maybe he swears all the time. Even if 3PO directly translates what he's saying ("He says that he's found her and keeps repeating she's here") 3PO could be editing R2 for content, if you know what I'm saying.

That's why R2 talks in beeps. It's his factory installed Galactic Censorship chip. Notice how no one else has the balls to swear. But R2? He's not afraid of the man.

I like to listen to commentaries too. Irvin Kershner cracks me up, and Bay's comments on Transformers were actually very enlightening.

I think my favorite commentary track has to be from Pain of Salvation: BE (live). The secret "real" commentary where they talk complete nonsense, like the box under the floorboards containing the organic matter that powers the keyboards.

Still no word from Adywan?

I'm afraid the shield doors must be closed.

... but srsly, I hope when he's finished he'll maybe take a couple years without the slightest mention of Star Wars and can come back to enjoy watching them, because if he works so hard on these edits that it ends up ruining the magic of watching these films for himself, that would be very sad indeed.

Well by the time the Executor exploded into the Death Star II, the shield was down by then and the Emperor was thrown down that shaft by Vader - so the duel would have been over.

It could be some other kind of explosion like an additional rebel ship blowing up perhaps.

What about the Death Star's superlaser?

Since it's never really established in the film where the Emperor's tower is, it could be within view of that.

I'd bet the Emperor's inner Michael Bay would love to have a first-hand view of whatever the DS is blowing up, and it's firing away at the rebel fleet while the duel is going on.

Hey guys, we should write/type letters/emails to film institutions and videophile websites and ask them politely to donate money to Adywan's cause. I'm going to write to the American Film Institution and to the digitalbits. Anywhere else you suggest I write? I was going to write one to Lucas and be like hey douchebag, I know you think you're too good to read this so one of your ass kissing PR guys is probably reading this right now so look, here's somebody who gives a damn, why don't you give him some money since you're too lazy to do it.

Adywan might not appreciate you getting on Lucasfilm's bad side on his behalf.

He only took off the helmet. (The idea that he only burned the suit is EU and can be disregarded if an editor desires.)

I agree. I find the thought of Luke undressing his dead father a bit unsettling.

LOL I meant that Ken Colley, who plays Piett, plays Jesus in Life of Brian. Wasn't touching on symbolism and I don't think Star Wars is necessarily allegorical at all, however much it may have been inspired by historical events. (eg. Palpatine's rise echoes any number of historical dictators, from Caesar to Hitler, but isn't meant to represent any particular one.)

I found it mildly amusing in the ESB DVD commentary track when Lucas seems to have a Freudian slip and refers to the Imperials as "the Nazis." I forget where exactly.
