The Prequel Radical Redux Ideas Thread
Time

Earlier in this thread (I think) I suggested that somehow Palpatine could use Padme’s life energy to heal Vader and that this could explain why she dies young (just not that young).
I saw a youtube video recently where someone else made a similar suggestion as a way to make Palpatine more proactive in Anakin’s journey to become Vader rather than just giving an already loose cannon a gentle tap.
I don’t know how this could be explained editorially (perhaps a line or two could be given to a masked or CGI character).
We have in the Original films evidence of the Empire using Tuskens as cover for their own activities so Palpatine could have done the same trick to Anakin. Making him a stronger Jedi than he would have been by draining energy from his mother into her son (which manifests as prophetic dreams).
Similarly this could add another element to Palpatine pitting father against son counting on the winner getting a power boost from the compassionate link with the loser.
Heck! It could even explain the Jedi no nookie policy as it stops the temptation to use spouses as turbo chargers.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

In terms of the ANH suit I was talking more along the lines of the ATM cover plastic looking a bit wobbly and the lights not working like they do in the other films. Having the helmet design slightly different and having the robes over the shoulder armour is fine.
The Empire might have spent lots of money on the Death Star but that doesn’t mean they can’t maintain their enforcer’s breathing machine thing.

What are those buttons supposed to do anyway?
Open the sliding door on his barbecue weener?

Different voice tone, and Mask, and Chest plate for that matter… Only thing worth keeping consistent is the tint of Vader’s eyes. Almost impossible to fix the other stuff…

But why try to “fix” any of it? So his suit changes between films. It doesn’t break continuity for Vader to get upgrades.

I think it’s okay to manipulate some aspects of the performance to make the jump from shouty enforcer Vader to no-nonsense leader Vader less jarring and make the earlier iteration of the costume more in line with all the others as long as it’s subtle. You can still have the suit evolve without leaving the older versions looking unfinished in relation to the later ones. This is a special edition not a preservation of every aspect of the original film.

I may add this is the ESB:R thread and not the ANH:R thread so maybe the conversation should shift to there.

Has anyone suggested Blue Oyster Baring the Cantina sequence before?
Further the scene where threepio and artoo hide from the troopers behind that door. They could end up back in the Cantina again… cue El Bimbo and possibly French television dance routines.
The Joke could return when Threepio finds the troopers in RSB and when he goes into Jabba’s throne room in ROTJ

I can’t see any logical reason why, if Ady were too busy to do a purist story version someone else couldn’t do a more traditional cut using his elements (as long as due credit was given). I feel that way to some extent should TFA turn out to be good and Ady’s changes to ROTJ:R contradicted it. But I maintain I am more excited by the prospect of ROTJ and the PT being worked on than even seeing Ady finish ESB:R and that’s not to understate how exciting that day will be.

Ady should do his own thing though and all power to his many elbows.

I don't know why Adywan would spend any time fixing the Prequels after finishing the OT. They're so forgettable. Best to count them as a lost cause and focus more time on the OT.

Further to my recent answer here I would add that they are the most broken.

You can't really change much story wise with the first two films because they are narrative speaking pretty sound movies.

Jedi and the prequels allow increasingly more room to be creative because anything you do to them will be seen less like vandalism.

Episode VII: The Force Awakens - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *
Time

I just wandered into my local branch of Virgin Megastore and rummaging through the CDs and Vinyl I noticed they had the soundtrack for the new Star Wars film.

I made a mistake of looking on the back *spoilers* Qui-Gon dies (or his arse has it's own theme tune), it's probably him in the trailer... oh crap... I'm typing out of sequence again.

I am odd... sorry... just ignore my words (what an ego! that's three sentences beginning with the word I in a row).

- There's a girl who thinks she's no one, but clearly dreams of getting off her backwater world... and then does and has adventures

- There's a disillusioned stormtrooper who, in seeking something to believe in, ends up with familiar heroes and a lightsaber, having adventures

- There's a bad guy who wants to carry on the legacy of Darth Vader

- Han is a very different man from the cynical, skeptical smuggler hired by an old man and a farmboy years ago

Sure sounds like two protagonists, a villain, and familiar supporting cast!

I think you guys are piecing together different parts of the puzzle (including leaked spoilers) rather than just taking a single trailer at face value.

Right running the trailer by the better half who hasn't been following the spoilers and isn't really a fan but aware of the older characters. He reads the main female character as a archeologist or scavenger. He saw the trooper as a "clone warrior" who has crashed on "Tatooine". The masked guy worships Vader and wants to continue his success. The girl and the 'clone" guy (later working for the rebels) ends up on the Falcon and the original characters fight is reduced to the level of a myth and Han is confirming that myth to be true. The masked guy can use the Force to hurt people. The Clone is going to fight the masked guy with a blue sword.

That's his take. It's a baton passing of a simple story.

Make of that what you will but it's certainly more story lead than just splosions, colours and shapes.
