It might be fun to see someone try this in an edit of all three films: https://www.reddit.com/comments/3qvj6w

It would mean taking all the Jar-Jar footage and spreading it over 3 films or making new Jar-Jar footage. But it would be cool to actually do the character well rather than just cutting him out.

Frink actually does a good job at giving him some kind of wacky dignity but this would be an interesting alternative. He could replace Maul and Sidious as the power behind the events in the first two movies at least.

Heck it might even be possible to have him replace Grievous 😄

Just look for any thread with the words “Ridiculous” in the title and you will find the wonderful new PT that everyone can and must enjoy.

(sand people for instance)

The part where they expertly snipe a speeding pod, but fail to hit a bunch of jawas dragging their feet about? 😃

Actually I like those bits put in.
A) The sandpeople are not known for their accuracy so missing the Jawas is more their thing whereas the pod could have just been luck.
B) It introduces the two species perfectly in a very old Star Warsian way. Remember how the opening shot of ANH set the stall for the Galactic Civil War. Tiny little ship swallowed by the great white shark of the Empire. Same thing in that footage. So I would have less CGI muppets and have the whole of the Sandpeople, Jawa sequences.

My pleasure.
The dialogue was altered in the caption cards and the monochrome really made the various effects elements sit better with the live action.
It’s a viable alternative to watching all of the saga not just the PT.
I also find Frink’s work an alternative way of watching the PT that is very enjoyable but still feature length.
Most fan edits just about make the films tolerable. They need massive reworking to turn them into true fantasy dramas that sit with the OT films which is why I’m hoping Ady’s projects get finished off before I am 😄

I found the silent movie version of all six films not only made the PT films more than tolerable (rather good in fact) but also tied them into the OT narrative rather well.
I projected them onto the venetian blinds of my bay window and the neighbours stood outside watching them.

If you need to B*tch about something... this is the place
Time

I just popped back over here to say, thanks to Possessed for reaffirming my faith in humanity for today.
Something similar happened to me once.

Walking home from a friend’s house I saw a very drunk, very young man in a fury because a man I had met once about a month or so before was walking out of a private club dressed as Emma Peel (the first time I met him he was in plain clothes so I didn’t recognise him at first though I knew from conversation with him and his girlfriend that this was a thing he did).
To be honest I was more worried about the young chap because he was about to start hitting way above his weight. This guy was in high heels and wasn’t taking shit from anyone they were staring each other out and screaming the place down.
I stood between the two of the them with my back to the younger chap and locked eyes on man in a dress and started walking him and his very scared friend (dressed as my nan) up the hill without turning around.
Okay it’s only slightly similar. I don’t know where the inspiration to intervene came from, I didn’t really think it through, I just sort of found myself there breaking it up.

You stood in the way of danger and I applaud you.

As for your bank account what’s the bank’s policy on identity theft?
I had an ex who forged my signature and got credit cards in my name and used my cheque book to buy items. In the end this went into the tens of thousands, I went into the bank and they pulled a copy of the cheque and I convinced them that my handwriting was not the same as that on the cheques or the credit card applications and they liased with the other card companies to get all charges waved and the funds returned.
Many banks have insurance for this sort of theft, I’m not sure if the laws are similar over the pond.

Best of luck and take care.

Episode IV: A Ridiculous Hope
Time

Have old Ben teach music classes. Musical instruments and sheet music could be added to his house.
He could give Luke a Clarinet instead of a lightsaber by accident.
He could be friends of the Buttcheek Band from the Cantina.
Vader can now think himself the Master of Opera and sing at Obi-Wan with Pavarotti’s voice.
Obi-Wan’s ghost could sing with Ewan McGregor’s voice.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

Seeing as one of the supposed aims of the SEs and a clear aim of the revisited saga is to try and make the PT and OT fit together maybe it would be possible to change the line where Obi-Wan says he had a pupil “named” Darth Vader and just have a pause so it goes :

BEN : Darth Vader, who was a pupil of mine until he turned to evil, helped the Empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi …

That way Vader is not necessarily his name but could be the title given to him as seen in the PT. We also don’t know if this is Anakin or another pupil he had before Anakin if his youth at that time isn’t mentioned.

If he is a pupil of Obi-wan it doesn’t need to be said that he is being trained as a Jedi. It’s not like Ben also teaches the oboe 😄

I’m all for making ROTJ more nasty but I would do it by adding more gore to the Ewok’s camp. Showing dead and partially eaten stormtroopers etc.

Something like this?

…

On the other hand, something like the above would be more at home in Return of the Ridiculousness.

Carrying this over here before it gets forgotten.
The dialogue from the film could be used for a stormtrooper voice.

^Some brilliant ideas in there.

I was musing the other night about adding more paranoia to Anakin at his turn. Usually people who suggest a false love triangle go for Anakin being made to think Padme and Obi-Wan are seeing each other.
Anakin uses the Force so he would presumably get a heads up on anything like that unless another Force user was using his powers to hide this. But Anakin would be able to detect someone doing that ergo the suspicion.
Palpatine knows about the concerned Senators that will eventually become the core of the Rebellion and he is a Force User. So maybe he is casting some sort of Force spell over Padme and Bail Organa to get Anakin suspicious of them which has the added benefit of making some of their more rebellious acts less obvious to Palpatine himself.
The lines about Padme being with “him” could be turned to be about Organa. This would later fuel Vader’s more shouty attitude to house Organa in ANH. Something that would be intensified if Padme sought refuge on Alderaan before dying young.

I don’t agree with everything in this video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2BNdF_NCVQ but I do think the guy makes some valid points which could help make a good edit. The Jedi are still shown to be stupid which is a cardinal error but I see no problem with intensifying the hypocrisy of certain Jedi and the sinister nature of the code. Ben shows himself to be capable of deception in the original films so extending that to an institution they may not be the great heroes of the Republic Ben tries to sell to Luke as an idea. Maybe the reason they chose Luke to train rather than Leia is she is educated and knows her political history better than the naive young Luke.
The Empire are evil but with the footage as it stands making the Republic already flawed without the Sith seems an easier route and consistent with the previous films.

As for Cushing look-a-likes I noticed watching Doctor Who last week that Capaldi is beginning to look like Dr Who from the films so he could be a stand in maybe if footage from his earlier career was re-purposed. James Marsters has the cheek bones of a younger Cushing too but rarely the accent.

The Place to Go for Emotional Support
Time

Christmas is coming so call this an Off-topic greetings card.

I can only speak from experience and anyone who has read my postings on here enough will know I have a not too easy life but it has been much worse in the past.

One thing that made it better for me and maybe it will work for others here was accepting I cannot control others.
This is an ongoing project as I too frequently forget this but generally now I offer help, I remind people that I am willing to help when possible but I try not to push help on people or get overly frustrated when my offers of help are rejected.

Other people are not us and we can’t ‘fix’ people.
By extension we shouldn’t feel blame or anger when other people don’t seem to take steps to change for the better or more pressingly when they don’t fit our dreams or expectations.

We can however fix ourselves.
A rather useful technique is to get a sheet of paper and sketch out you living your ideal world. All the things you would like to do, all the things you would prefer to feel, any skills you would like to have even material things you might want to own. Any states of relationship or friendship you would like to have. It doesn’t have to be an amazing work of art, write on it if you have to.
Then pick one of those things, just one.
Try and break down the steps it would take to get to that one point on the drawing no matter how ambitious to increasingly more and more practical stages until you get to one simple action taking into account any obstacles that might hold you back.

For example if one of the items on your drawing was you living in your own home one thing that might hold you back could be finances. Maybe you don’t earn enough money to live independently, so maybe a different job (or in my case any job) would give you more financial security. Maybe you need to train to get a better paid job, looking at the sort of jobs that pay better you may be able to identify a single skill that you don’t have that is affordable to obtain.
So your simple task would be to identify one skill and find out about how to get that skill as cheaply as possible. Write down that task and three weeks later see if you have fulfilled it. If not don’t beat yourself up keep trying until you do. Then move up the scale to maybe saving for or enrolling in a class or internet course. Write that down and three weeks later see if you have progressed.
Most goals can be broken down into simple early steps that can be progressed from beyond the example I have just given.

Extensive studies have shown that while genetics and social position (money, class etc) play a part in mental well being the most significant motor for mental health is psychological. When people lack hope or direction and are left to ruminate, whatever situation they are in will seem unmovable and permanent when it isn’t necessarily so.

The same is true with behaviours that we probably already know aren’t doing us any good like drinking or eating too much. You don’t have to go cold turkey on everything society considers to be a vice but if you pick one or two activities that don’t take you to a the best of places and maybe only indulge them on alternate days or once a week. And maybe redirect the money and effort you would have spend doing them in something else that is a bit more rewarding it would at least be pointing your life in what you define to be the right direction.
This here app has been drawn to my attention: http://appstore.liv.ac.uk/catch-it/ It might not be useful for everyone but it is free and a tool for helping you look at your mood and maybe contextualising it and redirecting it in a more positive direction.

I think we have all been in a situation a bit like Warb’s when something is broken by accident or there is some sort of domestic nonsense going on. I think you can indulge yourself in a bit of venting, apologise to witnesses, see if you can do anything to take some of the hurt out of the situation (Warb did this with lampshade) in some way and then see what you can learn from the experience. Maybe when hanging the Christmas decorations delicate objects could be taken to a place of safety first. Or the decorations could be hung in such a way as to avoid these items. It’s a family home and a family holiday so involving the whole family in planning might be something for next year.

As for feeling the world has gone mad. My only response to that is try and get a bit of cultural and historical perspective by visualising yourself in another time or another place in the history of the world.
I assure you everybody in history has thought the world used to make sense but it’s going down hill at some point.

It goes back to what I was saying earlier. You can’t fix other people. You can’t make people want you or make people stop poisoning themselves with booze or stop yelling at you. You can’t stop people killing each other or stop people from being a-holes. Trying will just add to your frustrations and make you feel powerless and miserable.

You have power, over your own life. It’s yours and you deserve to be at least contented but if happiness is a luxury, treat yourself. It’s nearly Christmas 😃

Up until that point we haven’t seen or heard from Yoda’s ghost I don’t think it harms the end reveal that much. Though it does make lugging that empty suit up into the shuttle and burning it a bit pointless and strange. Removing that scene would have a knock on effect to a certain movie some us may watch later in the month… probably.
