Sunset Yoda

On second thoughts he looks more like Doc Brown, especially with that hair.

"Our intelligence points to disgruntled Libyans looking for some crazy wide eyed scientist."

The puppet is beyond saving by just colouring/lighting adjustment (I just got a bit excited when I saw the puppet looking a bit more like Yoda).

Dear Lord it's Denis Healey:

Mr Mentat

Oh again no, this is Denis Healey.

Dennis Healey

I've never seen that MTV parody before, worked rather well it did, humm?

The real biggy is the lack of jaw line and cleft chin in the OT Yoda (who built the TPM puppet Michael Jackson's plastic surgeon)?

It doesn't matter what I do I can't get it to look (character wise) quite as right as my accidental effort, this one looks like Jimmy Savile:

It's great to read how you have built upon the ideas you liked from seeing other edits, adding your own imagination and skill to the mix and I'm really looking forward to seeing these.

I'm also intrigued to see how other people will run with your ideas too, it's like watching evolution happening right before before your eyes only with... Star Wars (sorry but I appear to be suffering from acute Nerdmonia).

what if anakin keeps on having dreams of being murdered by Vader? perhaps that is what he is chasing enstead of padmes death, or maybe he sees vader kill her too, and then slay an epIII aged obiwan, then slay a baby.

could be in that weird slow motion like the cave on dagoba

That could work, it would certainly blur the line between Vader and Anakin but only if it was done ESB style and not in the ROTS style.

We could just see a darkened gloved hand and hear Padme call out for Anakin as she gasped for breath but then we have the problem of why is she there if not try to save her husband (she could still be trying to do that but it would have to be something that only clicked into place for the first time viewer when they watched ESB)?

Perhaps the Seperatists contacted her to beg for an armistice (Nute Gunray can be over-dubbed) only to be killed by Darth Vader before she gets there.

The original is very low in contrast but please give it a go yourself as I said I was actually trying to do something else and it just suddenly started looking like Yoda (of all people).

It would be funny if a colour change could rescue the ugliest puppet in the Star Wars universe.

++UPDATE++

I'm beginning to think this looks more Yodaish because the contrast is too high (it's making those awful eyes actually look dark like the Yoda of old).

The problem comes when Obi-Wan calls Vader his pupil, and says that Vader killed Luke's father. A prequel viewer would know that Obi-Wan never had a student called Vader, and that indeed Anakin was his only student. Wouldn't that make the viewer figure out Vader's identity?

When we meet Anakin in ROTS he is a Jedi Knight, Obi-Wan could have had other pupils after Anakin and a few bread crumbs could be left at the scene like having Palpatine refer to Vader before Anakin's fall (because Palpatine has already decided that's what his new apprentice will be called before he has fallen).

Yes Yes Yes. Have anikan supposedly die in the fire. Hell yes it is perfect. And remove some of the emperors join the darkside tones and then it would work perfect. If we absolutely had to we could just add a shot of vader on a ship thinking and going against my hating flashbacks have a flash back of the emperor getting darth from the flames of course it would be before the emperor arrived in ROTJ but absolutely has to be after the I am your father part or even after yoda and obi telling luke vader is his father. or we could show the scenes with obi wan saying vader was suduced by the dark side and luke and leia were hidden from him while showing the last bits of ROTS it would totally work. coz obi wan and luke sitting on the stump is boring add the clips of course thats just my extension of bingowings words.

It would be much better to have Anakin appear to die defending Mace.

And a masked Sith Lord called Darth Vader fall into the flames.

My feeling about the Vader suits is that a good case could have been made for Vader updating his suit between films if the suit in ROTS had looked quite a bit more retro than the one he wore in ANH. (see the Radical Prequel Redux Thread for details).

Instead we got a very tidy hybrid of all the OT suits which looked more advanced than the one he wore in ANH, which like so many of George's decisions creates more problems than were there before hand.

If someone fixed the ROTS suit the updating theory would automatically correct any continuity issues with Vader in the OT.

Don't worry, once the new trailer comes out I'm sure there will a lot to talk about.

As for the data screen on the Falcon (though I don't think it's actually necessary) it could be a nice project which might be useful more for ROTJ:R during the Endor Battle but might work here too.

Unless we are going to alter the glow from the screen it would have to be mostly blue.

Perhaps the Nav Computer from TPM would be a better guide as it's onscreen longer and the two ships are closer to each other in size.

I'm stuck because I can't find good shots of the screens but here's the best I could under the circumstances (I'm sure other people could do a lot better) :

If anyone has seen the www.pinkfive.com spots, could it be conceivable to get the guy who does their Obi-Wan impersonations to dub over Ewan's lines?  Ewan is one of the better actors in the PTs, but that's not saying much.  It wouldn't just be a matter of having someone who sounds even more like Alec Guinness but also someone who could impart a little more seriousness...

And those DARK SIDE clips are pretty amazing!  It goes to show that even with just the editing you can damn near completely alter the feel of the movie.  Add in some different music (I love the add-in of the RAIDERS Marion music) and redub damn near all the voices and we may just have something!

You know, after watching this clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOzZ-MkX27I&feature=channel), is there any way someone could do a reverse TEMPLE OF DOOM (with the bar in Shanghai called OBI WAN) and name the bar MARCUS' PLACE, TYRELL'S or something along that line?

The Lao Che Club, Nurhaci Bar, all good options (even if only Aurebesh readers would know).

Jon Culshaw (famous for his Tom Baker impersonation) also does a really good Alec Guinness : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qT2tPZtcz8

I'm such a terrible jaded film nerd that I really couldn't help but notice but that's part of the fun.

Out of Chekov's ear and almost into Padme's, nice job though, especially the recolouring and light adjustment.

We are the sort of people who bugger up peoples enjoyment of films by pointing out flip shots so not noticing the Ceti Alpha V earwiggy things and the like is unlikely but then I want Edward James Olmos in Jedi so who am I to talk?

While we are on the subject of inserting celebrity cameos into Star Wars films I'm keen to stick Sun Ra onto the Jedi Council too.

Dooku being a Sith is a good idea, remember Sidious only uses Dooku to start the war and Dooku is but a 'nesserary loss'. Making him a rogue jedi starts bringing up issues like 'grey' jedi etc.

Surely Palpatine's description of his former master as someone who could "Save the ones he loved" (not forgetting the possibility he could be lying through his teeth) creates a grey area for the Sith too.

There could be a strong case made for lapsed Jedi who don't fully accept and participate in the Sith way of life but act in ways which could be described as evil, just as much as wavering Sith who embrace Sith teachings but aren't totally and irredeemably evil like Darths Plagueis and Vader.

It adds a level of complexity to their roles which lends credibility to Anakin/Vader's fall.

It makes it easier to believe (even through Hayden's flimsy performance) that Anakin is sincere when he comes to the conclusion that the Jedi are evil and that acting the way he does is for a greater good. The Jedi certainly share some responsibility for how Anakin turns out and going by the way Yoda and Obi-Wan rather wantonly manipulate Luke, it's a lesson they don't ever truly learn from.

In a sense the chosen one role of Anakin, bringing the force into balance (something some editors want to remove) creates the polarised world of light and shade we see in the OT out of a more grey world in the PT.

Good and evil exist throughout the saga but in the PT the division between them is more murky.

This has probably already been brought up, beat down, destroyed, and rebuilt, only to be beat down again, but...

... I would really love it if R2-D2's beeps were changed to fit in with the rest of the Star Wars saga!!!!!

Even the PT got the beeps right. What the hell is up with R2's beeps in ROTJ? That has always bugged me, even when I was a little kid.

To quote C-3PO: I heartily agree with you, sir.

R2's beeps suck in ROTJ, and it has bothered me for some time. I know it will be time-consuming, but I hope ady corrects this.

To be honest I never noticed Artoo's beeps being off in ROTJ but in ROTS they were really all over the place (the Tellytubbyish "uh-oh" being a partically ugly utterance...even Artoo got a rubbish script on that gig).

I'll have to listen again.

a lot of the problems with the PT looking like a video game is the colouring, which i will be sorting out

Thats True. Plus how everything look fake and in some cases bad composited in AOTC compare with the ROTS

-Angel

hey vaderious any chance of replacing the background of that scene in AOTC with the one in ROTS

Part of the problem with that shot (besides Mekon Yoda) is that TPM pink tint again having a little holiday in AOTC. If the carpet got the ROTS treament (as in rolled up though it's obviously meant to be a different level) it might look alright (I just can't stand the Yodamobile, "For my ally is the Force and a powerful ally it is...but can't be bovverd to use it can I, when floaty chair machine I have.").

Recolour attempt

I think the world is big enough for different edits with different ideas about lightsabre colour schemes.

Adopting a particular rationale behind what (if anything) the colours mean could become an editor's imprimatur so you instantly know which one you are watching (there's Magnoliafan's orangey Dooku blade, there's Jason's grandmaster purple).

I always saw Mace as a kind of Council Enforcer (making sure the Jedi aren't breaking their own rules) which is why he can't believe Dooku would assassinate Padme because he'd have to have passed extra character tests to be raised to that level. It also explains why he gives Anakin such a hard time all of the time.

Yoda seems more like a Council Chaplain teaching children, offering pastoral care for the spiritual and emotional needs of the Jedi and keeping the basic philosophy of the Jedi alive.

All Jedi Masters are Jedi Masters though (they can all do certain things to a certain level) though it would make some sense if they held specialised positions based on their particular strengths.

Maybe the Empire would never have risen if they had made Anakin the sulky child murdering master.

Here's a couple of ideas in progress.

This one features the "Force Kick"...with a surprise for Fett fans.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yP1WnN-DSI

A weird/radical edit of the Emporer's arrival to the Deathstar.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDUoNGqN0VQ

Any suggestions, comments, and harsh criticisms are more than welcome.

There is the beginning of a potentially great idea with the extended Emperor's arrival. Obviously there needs to be a lot more ships, a TIE Fighter honour flight and the shuttle has to go in the right bay (I also doubt if they would bother checking on his clearence code) as he would let it known that it was him by turning up with a huge fleet and just being his wrinkly and hooded dark side imbued self (that sort of thing would be hard to fake...somebody trying to fake it would have made a good storyline if they hadn't killed off ole prune face in this one...maybe an Episode VII storyline, Dark Empire without the cloning could go that way).

Considering how good the new background looks in the ION Cannon shot too, I just wonder what the final look of some of the shots of the AT-AT battle might also show....

I double hope for that ;) Considering the continuous Sky/weather/Sun changing.

Fingers Crossed :)

-Angel

I've got my fingers crossed for a few more AT-STs (seeing them back in 1980 was super cool) I know they only appeared from the side in two shots but it made the Empire seem a bit bigger (like the Tie Bombers) because they had a few items in their armoury which they only broke out for specific jobs (in this case scouting around).

Part of the let down of ROTJ for me was the Emperor's crack suicide squad was equipped entirely with scout equipment, scout walkers, scout bikers (only a few troops) no air support and at least one AT-AT which doesn't appear in the battle even when it's going really bad for them.

But in ESB the AT-ST made sense, it could nip through the battle at a bit more of a pace than the larger walkers, break through enemy lines and pick targets, we just didn't get to see it/them much.

The only problem I can foresee is that as Ady's skills improve by the time we get to see ROTS:R it will look so amazing that he will have to begin again from scratch with ANH:R:R (by which time we will be watching everything in 8D).

It will however be a great way of becoming a one man Hollywood studio.

By the end of the Revisted cycle Adywan Prods will be able to tell just about any story (not just Episodes VII through to IX).

Oh Belgium!

That has to be one of the (if not the) most bizarrely disturbing sentences ever written in any language.

It would possibly create the impression that in the whole Star Wars galaxy there are only about three or four tunes though.
