STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

In defence of the PT here (in this respect) there are very few scenes that have nothing to do with the main characters and those that do exist are very short.

But in a sense the whole Star Wars Galaxy is the main character in the whole saga and the space battle is pivotal to the resolution of the six part story so it makes sense to make it look as epic and conclusive as it can (it doesn't have to be longer just more convincingly decisive).

But the same is true of the ground battle too (the lightsabre duel needs a clean up and the sabres sorted out but there not much more that needs to be done there), as it stands the ground battle is even less convincing than the space battle but I being drawn into a ROTJ conversation here so I shall sit on my hands and post elsewhere from now on.

If the Naboo can take advantage of waterfalls for power why not the Empire?

as cool as that is, i don't think endor would have waterfalls due to the fact its supposed to be all forest. about 3po. he's impossible to camalflouge with that gold on. r2 is prolly easier to hid due to that fact is colors aren't as bright.

It's really the Iguazu Falls in some of the most dense forest on Earth (besides the moon isn't all forest because we can see the oceans and polar ice caps, the Ewok films showed us mountains and grass plains too).

...I thought most capital ships in the pt looked fake, like from a video game.

This argument is really tired, not to mention inaccurate. They did not look like a videogame.

I think part of this is down to videogames looking increasingly like films. If you scaled down some of the ships in even a relatively old game like Rogue Squadron they could fit into a film like ROTJ (as it currently stands) quite well.

Another problem is that some sequences in modern fantasy and Sci-Fi are designed much like computer game sequences.

One thing that detracted from my enjoyment of the new Star Trek film was the amount of jumping around from one polished surface to another (I half expected a subplot where Kirk had to collect golden rings or defeat Romulans by throwing turtles at people).

Some of the prequel sequences are very much like that too and in a world where you can play much more exciting scenes than that, just passively watching them losses it effect to emotionally engage.

ESB doesn't have anything really like that (some games have got close to the feel of the Hoth sequences but they are copying the film sequence the film sequence isn't structured around a game).

The key is to hammer out the story and use effects to illustrate the story.

A lot of film makers make the mistake of working out action sequences first and then work out a plot to hang the sequences on (a mistake usually made by computer game designers).

With the first two Revisited projects the story is pretty much there to start with but with Jedi and the prequels the story needs to be unearthed a bit and reframed to put the focus back on the story (which in some cases needs a bit more story injected in as well as some cut away).

I was amazed by the link to the computer models though, they do look in the gallery shots just as convincing as any physical model I've seen.

I understand people talking about ROTJ:R after ady drops a few bombshells but please remember the other threads for general prequel and ROTJ ideas.

It would be a shame to lose good ideas on a thread which isn't dedicated to gathering them together.

So much for the Ewoks worshipping their golden idol.

I don't see it as a problem if this change was made, most forest cultures worship some kind of tree spirit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Man his shining eyes would look like the sun through the trees.

I never bought the idea that the Ewoks would worship Threepio just because he was a droid (the Imperials have been on the planet for some time and they have been doing much more godlike).

Which was why I suggested that Threepio looked like an already worshipped God

3PO God

And that when they are about to cook the hero's Threepio projected frightening holograms around him:

MaulPO

Its still all forest ;) but more interesting! try to see that image at night, when vader lands. The sound of waterfalls combining with lights= awesome. And will not occure problem with the later scenes because the bunker will be far from teh water falls.

Still when we see the dish gets explode a new matte or a more dramatic angle is good.

IMO always :)

It will add pathos too if you factor in the PT because Vader will be thinking about Naboo all the time he is talking to his son.

Yeah, that old chestnut.

I was rolling that one around with Angel this morning.

If George and the team had their wits around them they would have put the big golden target in a camonet cloak and the loud silver blue and white one too.

If camotroopers are a doable thing, than maybe that could be too (i'm just not sure if any of those things are doable without reshooting every scene they are in).

Still 4ft long Star Destroyers are popping out of the Adywan factory and there are a lot of other talent lads and ladies here.

I think we have to learn to unlearn.

I think I'm probably the only one who doesn't want adywan to replace the Ewoks with Wookies in ROTJ: R.

I can't remember a single post suggesting that on this thread but there are loads suggesting ways of making the Ewoks work better.

I did this for laughs, it's the 501st Charity Jog through the Bamboo Avenue of Ewok Town (look out for those blowdarts boys).

WoW....just looking at all the effort and corrections AdY is putting into this awesome project I have to wonder.......is EsBR actually more work that AnHR was??

yeh, its turned out that way. but ESB pales into comparison to what i have to do for ROTJ:R. I'll be scratch building a 4ft approx stardestroyer so i can get some of the new Fx sequences i want to get done. And thats just for starters

Earlier I was chatting about how much a shame it is that after building that huge model we only saw one side of the ROTJ Death Star and how it would be impossible to build it again and you come on here and talk about 4ft Star Destroyer models.

After building it I can see you being tempted to go back and fiddle with ESB:R and ANH:R (imagine what shots you could do with such a resource).

maybe too radical, and i dont know why or how this could be done, but maybe somehow leia could have it, and she could give it to luke to where, repeating anakin's line from TPM 'it will bring you luck' (i think he says that.:P)

i am assuming that ROTS:R wont have padme dying, to fit in with her surviving until leia is young enough to remember her, and thus perhaps give it to her.

Adywan isn't gonna go to that kind of trouble for a necklace. Plus, Leia is the daughter of a great jedi. She may think she remembers her mother were in turn she actually has felt her mother. The jedi are hard to understand in that sense. But life finds a way in the star wars universe to continue. Another thing keeping padme alive would be damn near impossible. It would tear the saga apart. and thus be a great continuity error which i hear ady doesn't like continuity errors.

It's not a neckless it's a symbol of the selfless little boy (all be he played by Jake Lloyd) who became a monster, of the husband who became a child murdering wife abuser.

When it was introduced it seemed clear it was going to be a Chekhov's Gun: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chekhov's_gun but it never really played out.

And this thread is not exclusively an Adywan thread.

It's not the ROTJ:R Thread (people still post ideas here for ESB that have been out and out rejected by Ady) these ideas are for anyone to use if they can get them to work.

Despite everyone's varying opinions on his editing choices in the films themselves, Lucas's Star Wars DVD releases were looked to as a standard in both DVD package/menu design and media quality. I think some of them even won some awards. When Lucasfilm puts the time into releasing a proper package...

You have got to be kidding. Do us a favor and take your Man-Boy love for GL some place else.

vbangle please continue to quote people out of context and throw undeserved insults at them, it's always a joy to read.

I beg you to never actually read the content of the post you are replying to it will add to the comedic impact of your retort immensely.

It would be nice to mix up the types of trees (huge oversized red woods, ten times the size they should be with thin impossibly tall bamboo like plants that sort of thing).

Make it look more like an enchanted forests of myth.

But mixing in with the shot footage would be a real bugger (it's not like doing Hoth which is mostly wide open ice planes with mountains in the background).

Ewok totems would be nice too (as well as the nasty stormies on pikes I suggested earlier).

It's a shame the creatures in the Ewok films were done on the cheap because there were some nice designs (even if they were realised in really bad stop motion and men in suits, though no superfast bunny rabbits please).

I really liked the look of the Blurrgs for example but not the way they ended up on screen (I haven't seen them in the Clone Wars series but they look like the sort of thing that could be done well if the models were better).

well these are you guys' ideas. I cannot be against a fan edit. I ain't ya'lls executive producer. If ya'll need the necklace so be it. `but get this. A viewers ass will have fuzed to the chair through osmosis before return of jedi and they will be more worried about getting a spatula than whats goin on with a necklace. LOL just kidding.

One thing and I have mentioned it before that I would bring in from the PT into Jedi is that little neckless thing that Anakin made.

It seemed to me to be a Chekhov's Gun that never went off.

When I saw TPM I thought I bet that neckless will actually be used in some way to turn Anakin.

It will turn up at the scene of some disaster or in Obi-Wan's underwear drawer or something but it never happened.

So I thought it would be nice if the one thing Leia had of her mother was the neckless and she gave it to Luke on Endor when he told her he was her brother (he is asking about his mother after all).

When Palpatine is zapping Luke the thing could fall on the floor and that could be the straw that snaps the camel's back.

Otherwise it seems like a big deal for no reason, he makes the object as a little boy, Padme keeps it all her life and it presumably goes up in flames with her body after she dies.

Putting it into the last film turns a small object into a trigger for big events.

This would be cool if pulled off right, but it would require shooting scenes of the necklace being exchanged between Leia and Luke, and a shot of it falling off of Luke while laying on the floor. And the only way this could be done is in closeup shots of just their hands, since no shots of the actors exchanging anything exists. If it didn't work, it would be too obvious that these are insert shots.

Interesting, but tricky.

sorry to party poop. But, Padme was burned/buried what ever with the necklace in ROTS.

Fan editing is a pathway to many abilities that some consider..unnatural

[<( The Star Wars TV Commercials Project )>] (* unfinished project * - a host of info)
Time

Not strictly a Star Wars commercial (it had lightsabres, a dark figure in a mask and people obviously meant to be Ben and Luke), there was the advert for Refreshers in the UK which had the tagline "May The Fizz Be With You".

I haven't been able to find it though.

It was around in the late seventies.
