Star Wars is popular so there will be a broad sweep of opinion.
My opinion stands. The characters are fresh and interesting the situations are old and done (sometimes more than once in the films).
Hopefully the next films will develop the great characters by taking them into interesting new situations.

In all the films Force users have the power of telekinesis.
The nearest we get to this is Vader doing the Force choke.
The scene of Vader physically choking the Tantive captain always looked undramatic and a bit fake to me and we know Vader could lift the guy off his feet and choke him with the Force so the physical act seems now unnecessary.
So what I’m proposing is recomposing the shot so the captain is floating in the air and is being choked by Vader using the Force.

The obvious one was that Ben was not the original Kenobi but a clone and another was that he didn’t die on the Death Star but ascended to another level of existence from whence he may return (George nearly went with that by having Ben and Yoda come back from the dead to fight the Emperor).
Honestly Rey being Anakin isn’t that weird.
The Force is essentially Daoism and depending on which form you look at there are versions that include reincarnation of The Po or vital soul energy.
So Anakin’s spirit may have left to join Ben and Yoda but his soul energy may be reborn.
We were warned that Episode VIII might be a bit weird. I wouldn’t rule out a change like this.
After watching Jessica Jones I came up with a sinister reason why Padme falls in love with Anakin regardless of his crimes.
He or Palpatine is using the Force to keep her bound to him.
The closer he comes to the Dark Side the weaker his grip on her (explaining her involvement with the Alliance and her final attempts to flee Vader).
That way it’s not a love story but a story of abuse which matches the acting style more closely.
Maybe the deceased was a B-Wing pilot.
You could take the N sound off of his Nooooo in ANH and just loop it before it gets to the end.
A proposed opening shot of this film would have been a callback to the Star Destroyer shot from ANH only revealing the ship being pulled apart by salvage teams.
If someone felt up to doing that thing it would set the scene for the film in a good way.
Maybe the First Order ship would blow up the wreck and kill the salvage guys for such sacrilege.
