Glad to finally hear you guys put an end to this constant search for flipped shots. they are flipped for a reason, as some posters above have clearly explained.

It doesn’t matter. The flipped elements can be partially or wholly flipped back and maintain composition. It’s just as distracting to see R2 mirrored as having him move counter to the flow of the action.

I disagree on your second point (flipped elements are only noticed by obsessive fans on repeat viewings, whereas a bad cut is obvious to anyone, whether or not they understand why), but yes, if the offending elements can be changed without flipping the whole shot back, then that should absolutely be done.

As someone with a fine art training in my experience people generally notice these things at a gut level. I noticed the flip shots in the phantom menace on first viewing.

"A man is born, he’s a man of means.
Then along come two, they got nothing but their jeans…(pun?)

They’ll have theirs, you’ll have yours, and I’ll have mine.
And together we’ll be fine!"

A rich man is born rich, a poor man is born poor. Let the rich have their riches and the poor have their poverty and it will all be okay.

That the what the lyrics are saying. The show didn’t have a rich white man passing his wealth to the poor in a general act of altruism. He took on two specific poor children from Harlem.
That in itself has unfortunate resonance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6ha7TK13_0

What's the Weather Like Where You Live?

Everyone else got a red sun in the UK by the sound of things. Our skies went greyish green.
The wind is beginning to pick up. The storm is due around 2am so I will know if I have to go to work or not as I am supposed to be handing out leaflets at a train station. If it’s as bad as hurricane Bawbag the stations may be shut : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olKF0wCTx3g

I’ve suggested before that the barge should snap in the fashion of the Titanic but adding some animated falling figures would sell the explosion better. The barge seem utterly empty by the time the thing blows which doesn’t seem possible even if some of the court made it onto the sand.

For the throne room I’m not sure if some Ridley Scott style directional lighting would be possible though those windows.

It’s already be suggested that the Endor moon be visible through the windows which would provide some reflected light. There is also the native star and with all that swordplay smashing up electrical equipment there may be a little bit of smoke in that room which could make for some interesting light effects if someone was prepared to spend the time animating them.

Probably to cater to people like me who’ve never even heard of it. But then again I do live under a rock.

You’ve never heard of Murder on the Orient Express??? Dame Agatha Christie’s most famous book? Don’t watch the new movie, read the book and then watch David Suchet’s version.

If it is true, you do indeed live under a rock.

I prefer the Sidney Lumet 1974 version. It has a cast to die for and as much as I like Suchet the television version adds much to the book which isn’t needed. Another version wouldn’t hurt though. Look how many versions of Hound of the Baskervilles exist. Rathbone’s version is still my favorite but I love the Jeremy Brett one too. The Cushing version is fun but all that added nonsense with the spider is a bit of a let down.

OP has a stylish avatar image 😄

Thank you!

I Photoshopped the image for the wishlist thread and now I see it all over YouTube and WordPress. I really get a kick out of seeing them. The most used is probably the little guy from another place wearing green in the green room. When Paul Anderson fell out with David Lynch it just went everywhere. It just shows the reach of OT.com 🙂
