I don’t know if it was the same for all regions but while the rest of the film was pan and scanned the crawl and opening shot where squished to fit the television aspect. I thought it was kind of cool because I thought this was part of the language of spaghetti westerns and not part of the tradition of adapting wide-screen titles to fit on television sets of the day. Squishyvision still give me a wave of nostalgia.

Looking up at the skiff shots I’d imagine that if you were really filming a desert moving that fast it would brighter, not as in focus as the characters and subject to directional motion blur. The twin suns hardly ever appear in this sequence either. We only see them in the saga at sunsset which I guess is also an issue for AR:SE.
I frequently have dreams that sort of overlap with previous dreams to tell a story. Often I dream that my dad didn’t die but got very depressed and stormed out abandoning us as kids. He lives on his own and barely leaves his small flat. Sometimes he has tried to reconnect with my mum but he is too proud to come back. In my dream I got on a bus with a co worker. It’s a summer’s day and children are having some sort of sports day and my coworker is wanting to pass on a message to her daughter. Up on a grassy bank I spot my mum talking to a guy. I know him from other dreams. He has a daughter and his wife died and they are both enjoying eachother’s company. I feel happy for them both but feel sad for my dad because I know he is fighting his lack of confidence to ask my mum if he can come back. This dream world is so real that when I begin to wake up and hear my partner milling around our house I think he is my dad and I have stayed at his flat. The smokers cough is almost identical. My dad died around this time of the year. He was only 50 and I am 47. It feels weird to think that soon I will be older than he ever was and I am still putting him in this unhappy dream rather than accepting he got cancer and died. Mortality is a collosal pain in the arse if you don’t believe in heaven.

It’s more jarring than the original, without a doubt. Although, I do like that Mark Hamill’s face is flipped back to normal now. I think that’s the main giveaway.Can’t say I found any issue with those shots flipped back, I followed along fine with where the barge was heading and the other ships location to it.

I quite agree. The viewer can follow the action just fine, and quite frankly I’m seriously struggling to see why it was flipped in the first place, as IMHO this version is infinitely superior. The only possible quibble from pedants I can see is that when they finally arrive at the Sarlacc the skiffs are now on the barge’s left side instead of the right, but since they’re all flying vehicles with vast space around them on all sides, and we don’t witness the entire trip, surely it’s not beyond the wit of the viewer to assume the skiff moved to the other side at some point before the journey’s end? Donald Trump might struggle to understand it, but regular humans with at least double-digit IQs won’t. I didn’t watch that clip and think, ‘My God! The skiff’s teleported!’
Move the models in the right direction to keep the human faces pointing the right way around.

Great, it might not feel like it yet but you are heading in a direction that will lead to turning a corner. You have taken steps into world which may not be giddy with amusement and endless delight but will eventually only occasionally be sucky. Try to be a patient patient. Human wetware is a bit slow to fix but it’s remarkably resilient. Some further tweaking may be necessary.
Also be mindful of the fact that Human brains continue to develop way into the mid-twenties. Your body is still awash with hormones and your mind is being put under lots of different and sometimes contradictory pressures. If you feel suicidal thoughts take these feelings seriously and talk to a clinician. It could be some transient chemical reaction which is easily course corrected with a bit of meditation or maybe a pill or two. You owe it to a potential future you not to get caught off guard at this time of your life. It’s an adventure this living thing, don’t worry about first voyage nerves or the need of a safety net during the exposition heavy early episodes 😃

I’m not really bothered by men who are gay, per se, but I really am not fond of men in general who are effeminate, especially flamboyantly so. It weirds me out.
You should work on that prejudice. I have no problem at all with depictions of flamboyant males. But in my experience straight men are as likely to be fabulousa as gay men and there are lots more straight men. That in this day and age having this old chestnut being Star Treks first gay characters in an F-bomb episode is really a step backwards rather boldly going forwards. Galactica did this so much better. The reboot I mean. In the original show Lucifer and gold Cylon were beyond disco.

I disagree on your second point (flipped elements are only noticed by obsessive fans on repeat viewings, whereas a bad cut is obvious to anyone, whether or not they understand why), but yes, if the offending elements can be changed without flipping the whole shot back, then that should absolutely be done.
As someone with a fine art training in my experience people generally notice these things at a gut level. I noticed the flip shots in the phantom menace on first viewing.
