I tend to agree with you Ady about the AT-AT's. I think what might be missing are more AT-ST's! Or maybe a few Tie Fighters flying around for air support?

No Tie Fighters. The battle is impressive due to the fact the Empire manages to take over the Rebel base with only walkers and no air support (I think). Tie Fighters would be just useless.

There are some other mistakes reported in the other pictures, but I don't think all of them should be fixed, depends on the ones (for instance, Luke's sabre buried differently between two shots, is this that bad? No, but Chewie rubber sole breaks the illusion of him being a real alien).

As you see, from R2's dome panels, the shot has been reversed (just like the too numerous times it happened in TPM...)

Do you mean it's mostly with R2, or are there just a lot of flipped shots in general in TPM? I guess neither would surprise me.

Well R2's panels help see when shots are flipped, because of the panels. But there are quite some other, and more or less visible (Obi's prait in flipped shots), like in any other movie. I don't think there are a lot more than usual in TPM.

While I was watching the escape scene from Cloud City, I noticed something of no great importance, but anyway:

As you see, from R2's dome panels, the shot has been reversed (just like the too numerous times it happened in TPM...). Just wondered if it could be corrected in any way or not.

And the X-wing that disappears at the end, i noticed that when i was doing the colour correction. I though ILM was supposed to have fixed these types of FX gaffes but the whole SE just seemed to me to be a half-assed job

I just went back and watched the last shot frame-by-frame and don't see any ship disappearing.  Where is it?

Well it's not the very last shot of the scene, but like I said it's the 2nd one, when you see the fregate coming from the right with fighters flying on its left side :)

Seems like it would be a lot of trouble to go to. Sure, the reflections were cool in the PT because they had the ability to do it, but it's not something that ever bothered me about the OT. I found it was the shadows cast that stood out more.

This, this, this. Something made of light or plasma or whatever shouldn't cast a shadow. The biggest offender in my book is in RotJ when Vader is walking up the Emperor's stairs towards Luke before he was unwise to lower his defences. Vader has the saber in front of him, then swings it out to the side, and it casts a stick shadow on the ground. Also when Vader and Luke are having their final swings towards The Pit its pretty bad. I don't recall any in ESB.

Ady, are you planning on eliminating lightsaber shadows when you can?

Funny thing is you can see the shadows in most of the shots, but in at least one (not a close up) shot from when Luke is holding it near Vader's throat as he lies on the ground, there is no shadow at all.

It is quite possible that Bob Anderson didn't have any stick pointed at his throat, and that the blade was added by ILM later on in post-prod :)

And to come back to ESB (I don't recall having read it before on the forum), is it planned to add any flashes in the overhead shot when Luke and Vader are fighting on the bridge (before Luke falls and Vader says "It is useless to resist"), because I don't see any of these flashes when sabres hit each other. Just checked it out again to be sure :)

And also to fix the X or Y-wing fighter in the last scene (2nd shot, when the medical fregate enters the shot and fighters fly along with it) that disappears something like 2 frames before the end of the shot.

Thanks for listening :)

Well I was here to read your ideas and perhaps find and give some, but Kurgan is too fucking aggressive so damn him,you DO keep busting Ady's ba*** by questioning (yes, questioning) again and angain (yes I do think so) his choice of grey Ties. There's a difference between busting people's balls and defending one's point of view.

Bye and good continuation

Hello people

I've been following this topic for a few months, even let a post (which no one obviously noticed but never mind :D), and I've got to say that for the people who read the post it's REALLY BORING that some continue to question Adywan's choices again and again, it's a real pain so there's something that should be done.

He explained his choices so what? (yes, I know, I don't come to give any ideas in the topic :-))

Thanks for your understanding

Good day to you.

:)

Hello to y'all

I'm a French newcomer, and have followed every single post of this very interesting topic :D

have seen ANH:R of course, which I found very bold and well done, and now here I am, willing to add an (minor) idea which I think you didn't talk about in the previous posts: Adywan, I was wondering if you, when you'll be at the FX stage, intended to improve the horrible matte of Han Solo carbon block when being taken to the Slave 1. This is kinda horrible when you at it in slow-motion, so if there was any idea to make it look better (3D model of the carbon block?)...

I know, this is just detail, but I love details :P

To change the subject, Adywan, what are the softwares you use to edit (I like editing)?

Thanks for listening :-)
