…hence my specification of “blown to bits, head falling off body.”
…hence my specification of “blown to bits, head falling off body.”
That sounds uncharacteristically gory.
Yeah, but it can also be done in a more subtle way that involves a definitive death.
I propose a version for people who don’t like Mandalorian S2 or Book of Boba Fett. One would see damage on the jetpack after the tumble, which leads the jetpack to launch and explode after Han hits it. It’d be a simple effect to show Boba exploding in mid-air, with body parts going everywhere and the head falling into the sarlacc’s mouth (to keep the burp). It seems easy to keep that within 1983-style effects.
I think Dave Filoni’s work on Clone Wars, Rebels and Mandalorian season 1 is generally great. Either Jon Favreau or massive fan expectations or both have been a bad influence on him.
I find The Clone Wars to be the sort of series one watches to pass the time, nowhere near the TV masterpiece everyone is making it to be, and I absolutely despise Rebels.
Seriously, I don’t get why Filoni is so highly regarded.
Well, he was a director on the first season of Avatar: The Last Airbender. By coincidence, I’d argue that it’s the weakest season of the three. It’s still good, just not as good as the other two seasons.
LEGO games never have a noteworthy modding scene.
That’s true, but they are out there. It’ll probably be minor mods, like tweaking character’s appearances (e.g., Anakin with a different hair model and a Sebastian Shaw ghost).
If you want a Star Wars game with an amazing modding scene, stick to 2005’s Battlefront II or Empire at War.
There’s the “Won’t be long now, Solo” line in Battlefront II. It might make a good replacement for “Put Captain Solo in the cargo hold.”
I really like what you’ve done here! Aside from the third line, it’s all seamless. Would adding more distortion/slowing down the first part help?
Replace every mention of “The First Order” with “the Sheevaboos.”
Apparently, TT Games has been doing extreme crunch culture since the mid-'00s, only getting worse with time. I’ll wait until it’s on discount and most/all of the DLC is out, as I really don’t like supporting games produced under such circumstances. It’s not as horrendous as some studios, but it’s still an abysmal working environment.
Now its completely non canon due to Disney.
…yet Geroge’s sequel trilogy would’ve also rendered the old EU non-canon. All of those books, comics, and videogames could be stricken from canon the minute a live-action movie or show (or even George-produced show) contradicted it. Look at how TCW wiped out the Traviss-style Mandalorians and altered the name of Korriban.
But back to The Force Unleashed - I would say it’s aged decently enough, but that Fallen Order has a bit more story value to it and that we have TFU to thank for Sam Witwer becoming the definitive voice for Darth Maul.
I thought it was a decent game, albeit one with a canon-breaking storyline and a Gary Stu protagonist (which I despised). My favorite Star Wars games are the classic Battlefront games and Empire at War, partly because of the modding scenes around them. If I want an original story in a classic Star Wars game, I’ll stick with Rogue Leader or Jedi Outcast/Academy.
I still want to see a version with a definitive Boba Fett death, for the people who don’t like The Mandaloian and Book of Boba Fett. He can’t be getting in swoop chases if he got blown into bits at the sail barge fight!
I’m guessing the “Boba Fett dies definitively” change is gone, yes?
I can’t bear to see Jedi Rocks and Victory Celebration paired together. One is my most disliked SE change and the other is far and away my favourite, and one of the best pieces of music from the OT. This is sacrilege.
Agreed. Yub Nub has always been way too goofy for me.
Still, I prefer closing out the movie with the concert suite version of “Luke and Leia.” It fits more with the rest of the soundtrack and works with the OOT edit of the ending.
You know, I’m now much more open to a fan edit of ROTJ where Boba Fett unquestionably dies.
Replace the Jedi voices during Rey’s “be with me” sequence with audio from interviews where their actors threw shade on their time with Star Wars.
I was going to suggest clips of Mark Twitchell’s police interview. Context
I’m just wondering which cut of Manhunter is represented in their copyright deposit.
Add the wipe sound from the Lego Star Wars games every time an optical wipe happens in the movies.
I felt the shared history between Maul and Obi-Wan was wrapped up when Maul killed Satine in front of Obi-Wan. For me there was no more to it. When introduced in Rebels, all Maul has left is his hatred for Darth Sidious. He says as much to Ezra.
So while everyone was hyped up about the rematch in Rebels, I was annoyed.
Well, Maul did kind of go mad on his own (after his criminal empire crumbled) and learned of Obi-Wan’s survival not long after, so his priorities changed to some level.
Ultimately, his story had to end with Obi-Wan. That episode, “Twin Suns,” is probably the only part of Rebels I truly like.
I’m curious about how many members have gotten 3D-printed Star Wars stuff, either through printing it themselves or through buying prints online?
No they weren’t. Also, “tricks”? That’s a weird label to put on someone else’s opinion and perspective. I’m sharing my much more positive perspective on the prequels because I think they’re great. It isn’t deception.
Oh, I know. I just don’t buy any of the prequel defenses. I appreciate the perspective, but I ultimately disagree with it.
And TCW Anakin is exactly like ROTS Anakin before his nightmare, down to his confidence in battle and flying, his tendency to give into his darker emotions, and rapport with Obi-Wan.
I beg to differ, as I find TCW much more convincing in portraying Anakin as the character Obi-Wan talked fondly about.
TCW wasn’t Dave Filoni’s pet project, it’s George Lucas vision. It’s as much of a child of Lucas as it is Filoni, if not more so.
Could’ve fooled me. I’m still not a pro-Lucas guy and never will be, nor am I pro-Disney. I’m just a bit of an OT purist and tend to reject most stuff in this godforsaken franchise outside of the OT. Heck, I’d happily throw ROTJ away sometimes.
Yes it is tension. You’re just clinging onto the way you saw the film as a child and refusing to see it from any other perspective.
No, I just think the prequels are crap for a multitude of reasons, screwing up Anakin’s fall is one of them. No tricks prequel defenders use have really worked on me and I’m a guy who grew up with the prequels! They’re still terribly executed movies, and yes, I believe Clone Wars makes them a much worse experience. That Anakin is much more believable as the person talked about in the OT and as the future Vader.
From the wordpress,
Editing is going well, but Facebook is being a PITA with the group.
Anakin becoming Vader is the new twist of the saga though. Because when you watch it in order, it happens in the middle and is literally the turning point of the saga. ESB is no longer in the middle like it was during the original trilogy. At the beginning of ROTS it seems Anakin has overcome his flaws (because he’s happy, mature, and has a good rapport with Obi-Wan during the rescue of the Chancellor)… only for him to succumb to his Achilles’ heal (not being able to let things go).
Nah. If it’s a twist, it’s a very hacky twist. The movie still rushes Anakin’s fall and the series suffers for it. Besides, ESB is in the middle again (five out of nine movies - close enough).
Trying to hide that Anakin is Vader is stupid and would damage the prequels. Like, you’re literally losing the best scenes of the prequels. The Knighting of Vader, the immolation scene, and Vader getting his suit give me goosebumps.
Sure, they’re good scenes in the context of that movie. A rewrite would give a Vader character (one of Obi-Wan’s two apprentices) similarly cool scenes.
If anything I’d be more in favor of hiding that Luke is Anakin’s son and framing it like he’s the Lars son or the son of some other Jedi Master, maybe even Obi-Wan, but even that is dumb.
Nah, keeping a mystery around Vader’s identity (within the context of the movies) is much more appealing to me. Heck, one can redeem Obi-Wan’s lies a little by making it clear he doesn’t know which apprentice Vader is until the duel on the Death Star. He suspected it, but now he knows (that troubled look he has now indicates that he’s thinking of how Luke is going to handle this).
I’d argue that knowing that Luke and Leia are Vader’s children but none of them know adds TENSION, you’re wondering when they’ll learn the truth and what the consequences of that will be. How will Luke react when he finds out Vader is his father, and that the man he thought he could trust most lied to him? Because unlike what JJ Abrams thinks, surprises are not the most important thing in storytelling (or the only important thing, for that matter).
That’s not tension, that’s just lessening the experience of the OT. Again, preserving twists makes the reveal all the more of an emotional shock in the final two movies of the trilogy (or saga, depending on your perception). Knowing it all along just doesn’t feel right.
Also regarding Yoda I’d argue that it’d initially make people wonder “Why’s Yoda acting like this… this is weird”.
Or, if we don’t know what the hell Yoda looks like, “Who’s this weirdo?” Not knowing Yoda’s appearance makes the reveal (especially having seen the PT first) all the more surprising.
That’s why there should’ve been more thought towards chronological viewing in the prequels, namely to preserve spoilers from the OT. I know that’s an unpopular opinion for some, but I’d prefer watching I, II, and III where:
Unpopular, but I appreciate prequel rewrites that keep this stuff in mind.
