That would ruin the twist in TESB entirely.
For anyone who’s less then 5 years old, lives under a rock, or has been in a coma since 1979.
This reminds me, Anakin’s name reveal in ROTJ is very nonchalant. You’d think it’d be a bigger moment (from the 1983 perspective), but it’s just dumped out unceremoniously.
Personally, I’d get rid of the youngling slaughter implication in Kenobi. Maybe Reva could be restructured as a young force-sensitive who was found by and recruited into the Inquisitors?
Turning Anakin into “School Shooter in Space” just pushes him too far into irredeemable, IMHO. I’d say the same thing about the kid bit in Kenobi as well (it felt gratuitous).
Has anybody ever tried to make reshoot footage from AOTC (read: Obi-Wan’s wig and fake beard) blend better with the principle photography shots?
The mullet wig looks pretty decent on Ewan, compared to Mark’s wig in TROS.
But I’m sad that this conflicts with the fanedit idea that Anakin wasn’t part of the Temple Massacre. I guess if somebody does this in a ROTS edit they will have to accept the conflict with Kenobi.
I mean, if you’re gonna delete chunks of canon plot material from your edit, you’ve already kinda agreed it’s its own continuity lmao.
Exactly - fanedits shouldn’t be beholden to series continuity. They can pick and chose whatever they like (see: “Rey Nobody” preserved, Chewbacca getting a medal, or Padme surviving ROTS among others).
I’ve got a rudimentary splitscreen comparison here. It falls out of sync when the duel starts, for obvious reasons.
It’s looking fantastic! I especially like how you straightened out the pylon in the first shot of Vader (which has bugged me for ages).
Also, speaking of sound mixes, will the mono mix insertions (Beru’s voice, “It’s secure,” “Blast it Wedge,” and the exterior cantina music) also return? There’s a new mono mix restoration in beta testing on the 4K77 forum.
If you were willing to mess with the opening shot, maybe have the Tantive IV exiting hyperspace and start firing right as it passes above the camera? That would help smooth things over with R1.

This all crusade against a so called « Fandom menace » is just a way to prevent any legitimate criticism.
It absolutely isn’t, but go ahead. You all do you. I’ve said my piece.
Speculator boom, '80s nostalgia, and money laundering would explain that price.
There is something quite weird going on with Lucasfilm shows: after TBOB never featuring Boba Fett, this Ben show has still not shown Obi-Wan Kenobi after half its episodes. There is a character being called “kenobi” but he has absolutely nothing to do with the Jedi we saw in Ep 1-6, TCW, CW and Rebels. Really strange.
Also I don’t see Vader either. There is a cosplayer in a decent plastic costume doing weird civilian killing stuff (not really in Vader’s character to do that for basically no reason, unless he really hates asian people but they don’t look like tuskens so maybe not…), so yet no Lord Vader on sight either.
They should have titled it “Star Wars: Reva and Leia adventures”.
This series is so far the best way to ruin the OT and the PT altogether. It’s amazing in a way.
Still 3 to go: let’s hope for something good at some point!

Even though the PT CG has plenty of issues, it’s not the reason the prequels are bad movies.
To borrow/invert an analogy from Todd in the Shadows, the CG is like the snare drum in St. Anger - there are far deeper reasons why the art piece is bad.
His name? Jedi Master Jorus C’baoth.
Actually, wait. This might be a crazy idea, but what if it was Sifo Dyas, instead?
My idea would be to go for an ancient name, like Ulic Qel-Droma or Freedon Nadd. The reasoning here would be to sell the new threat as the return of a truly ancient anti-hero/villain leading the enemy faction of the ST, an order that Palpatine/Vader never knew about and was behind some events of the PT and OT.
My one question revolves around sound - will you be using the '04-present Vader distortion or the '77/'97 version?
It’s best to do what CatBus does with conforming Special Edition dubs to Despecialized - just make edits to replicate the media it’s synching to and present it like that.
On that dub note, I do hope Adywan keeps all the mono mix bits he added in for the SD version. There’s a new mono mix restoration in beta testing at the 4K77/80/83 forums (MaestroDavros’ production) which might be useful.
Perhaps you could make lossless tracks a separate download for those who want to mux their own MKV of the films. That’s how the audio people do it over on the 4K77/80/83 forums.
I regret to report that certain people are being racist knobs towards a black actor in Star Wars. Again.
Yep Disney’s doing that thing where they call fans a bunch of “-ism’s” and “-phobe’s” because they criticize one of their characters or movies. All so tiring. Singling out a few trolls that are saying racist things to get a reaction, while the overwhelming response from fans has been about her terrible acting. Has absolutely nothing to do with skin color. The fact they put those articles out beforehand warning Moses Ingram of “racist” comments from fans, tells me they knew the character was bad and going to cause issues, and are now going to use race to shield it from any criticism.
It’d be great if Disney and Lucasfilm would stop intentionally causing riffs in this fandom. I felt the fandom was starting to come together again after the sequel trilogy debacle. But here we go again.
That is a disgusting and wrong-headed take that downplays the amount of terrible comments about Ingram.
It’s not “deflection,” it’s the truth.
Double post, but here’s a surprisingly unpopular opinion:
If somebody can do a good impression of Dennis Lawson’s Wedge voice, it would be nice to see a fanedit that redubs Wedge in ANH and ESB with the more-accurate voice.

A ball pit is much scarier than the Sarlacc.
That reminds me, Death Trooper Cody is on my wish list of character fates.
Has anybody thought of a way to insert Smit’s Bail Organa into TPM, either in physical form (during the senate scene) or just in voice (replace “Antilles” with “Organa”)?

The conspiracy nut who believes that Shakespeare didn’t write Shakespeare and whitewashed the Stonewall Riots? No thank you.
Just because people are good at one thing doesn’t mean that they are good at all things. You think Deborah Chow did a good job? I’ve seen better television in unaired pilots from the 1940’s.
I think you’re being a tad bit hyperbolic, but that’s just me.

Kenobi seems just fine. It’s inessential, like every piece of media in this franchise since 1983. I wouldn’t call it awful, just ok.
What we see on screen in the Special edition sequence are ROTJ stormtroopers with sandtrooper bits added. The helmets are slightly squashed, same as the ROTJ ones and they have the solid black mouth.
Whelp, I guess I’m never unseeing that!
Anyway, I’m glad things are coming along well and I’m pleased that the overall pace of the movie is more akin to the OOT. Hal’s method of shortening the “Look sir, droids!” scene has long been a favorite change of mine and I’m glad you’re doing something similar (along with fewer CGI dewbacks/riders - even the classic Battlefront games had better character models for stormtroopers).
The Topaz AI stuff sounds like an excellent method to ameliorate the grain issues present in the HD and 4K masters of the movies, while also bringing the HD branch up to snuff in 1080p.
