I wonder if it might be the worst thing that ever happened in Star Wars canon.
The Chuck Wendig books exist.
So in movie/tv media then.
Nope, that’s still AOTC, the Ewok movies, BOBF, or TROS, depending on how a person is feeling that day.
Don’t forget the Holiday Special.
I find it charmingly bad, in a way that only something produced in the late-'70s could be. Plus, it has a funny Rifftrax (Mike > Joel).
Ewok movies aren’t canon.
AOTC is way better the Ben show…
And at least TROS was dumb but funny because so dumb. BOBF is just inconsequential. I don’t mind as it doesn’t fuck up important characters of the Saga.
But I think you’re intensely overselling how much Kenobi “fucked up” characters (I rather like all the steps it took with the characters, albeit some executions could’ve been better than others), but that’s just me.
Also, AOTC is much worse than “the Ben show” because at least the Ben show didn’t make its female lead look like an enabler (which AOTC made Padme out to be). It also didn’t ruin a character’s redemption by making them look like an unhinged jerk. But once again, it’s just my opinion.

Is this the k.k. Garbage people keep saying about the Star Wars she does or is that hyperbole?
What are you talking about?
Just ignore it, it’s a guy poorly trying to lead the discourse off-topic.
TCW S6 explicitly states he couldn’t manifest phisically.
But then he learned later on, which doesn’t sound that far-fetched to me.
I’m not even the biggest fan of the scene in Kenobi, as the wig looks dusty and Liam looks like he’s mourning the flop of his latest movie.
And hadn’t it already been established that Qui-Gon couldn’t appear “in the flesh” because he hadn’t completed his training before he died? I’m sure this was explained in one of the cartoons.
The 2017 book From a Certain Point of View showed that Qui-Gon had learned to appear in the flesh by ANH (but it took a lot of effort to do so). All the show changes is that Jinn knew how to appear in the flesh a decade before it happened in the book.
So they have altered canon yet again just for a few seconds fanwank? Jeez
Not really? Nothing in the book says that Jinn couldn’t have done it a decade earlier (it doesn’t imply that his 0 BBY appearance is as the first time). Besides, there’s nothing that says that a force spirit can’t learn to physically manifest if they couldn’t before.
The book messed it up first, if one takes a negative view of the physical Jinn ghost.

I find that Crow-style flashbacks completely break with how Star Wars stories are told through all eras, especially in the OT. If it’s a vision Luke has in the deleted scene cave, it’d be a bit better. Having a vision scene in the opening of ROTJ would also be a better place for Luke to learn Anakin’s name (instead of Obi-Wan just dropping it with no fanfare).
It’s okay in my book. I didn’t hate it, but I just couldn’t mentally justify rating it higher than a 6/10. I get why people despise it, and I get why people like it. I’m glad you’re not using elements from it, especially since it’d just cheapen the look of the OT to include insertions/references.
Speaking of that, what’s the plan for Kenobi’s hut now - a new model/matte, the '77 hut, or the '97 hut/digital matte?
This may be the most nitpicky request ever, but would it be possible to make the saber ignition noises consistent? As in, Obi-Wan’s blade always makes the ANH noise, Vader’s makes the ESB red noise, etc.
As far as wig quality goes for the finale, Qui-Gon’s looks kinda rough. Did the Lucasfilm Archives just pull out the old TPM piece without washing or brushing it?
Now that a certain show has aired it’s finale, I’ve got an itch to see Qui-Gon and Leia (to balance things out) added to the Jhon ghost version of the finale.
I’d like to imagine her just getting stranded on Malachor and living off of the land until a mining ship happened to land there during the events of ROTJ (as in, within days of the DSII blowing up). It doesn’t seem like that place is frequently visited by spacefarers and there probably aren’t hyperspace-capable ships near her.
I think he wanted to post it in the Random Thoughts Thread, but he got the wrong thread.
Yes, that’s the case. My B.
Also, I’m not implying that about all PT Anakin fans. I’m implying it about one guy who went out of his way to defend that one scene and say things like “could you imagine the guts it would take to do that?”.
“Wannabe serial killer” Mark Twitchell being a big fan of prequel Anakin was no surprise to me. The man even defended the youngling slaughter scene on TheForce.net forums back in the day.
Everyone wants to see Luke being a badass in the sequel trilogy,
Legends Luke was too OP and flies in the nature of the movie character, IMO. TLJ was a much more plausible Luke, but that’s a discussion for another day. Being a badass doesn’t always mean it’ll be a good and complex character.
everyone wanted to see Vader in action in the prequels (not 5 min),
Maybe? IDK as much about the fan community then, but was there much of a call to have Vader appear in Ep II or early Ep III?
everyone wanted to see Anakin and Obi-Wan being really good friends in the prequels, etc. (And they get none of this)
Clone Wars gave fans that to a significant extent.
Part of me wonders if “reshoot” Obi-Wan can be fixed (i.e., looking bulkier, bad wig, etc.). This also applies to Obi-Wan’s wig and fake beard in the AOTC reshoots.
If they decide to continue the show to another “season” with Deborah Chow and the same/random writers…then we don’t want this show, haha. We, apparently, are always going to come up with better story ideas because we are not Disney shills with agendas and misunderstanding of the rules of the SW galaxy. This show and TBOBF have proven that they often have very little clue about how to construct SW stories properly or with care. Everyone here has suggested terrific stories for another season that fit better with the universe and the Kenobi character…don’t count on this company doing anything remotely close to that quality.
To campaign for a second season, to them, would be rewarding their mediocre attempts and encouraging more.
You don’t speak for me.
If there was to be a season two, skip a few years to get a graying Kenobi (with a wig that looks like Sir Alec’s wig) going up against some Hutt BS or a force-sensitive bounty hunter that endangers Luke/the citizens of the Dune Sea. Maybe this is the incident that makes Owen go “no contact” with Kenobi (if Joel Edgerton’s salary demands are met/he’s not too busy).
Maybe find a live-action Satine for flashbacks? Her absence is understandable in this story, but it would be nice to have her acknowledged.
Maybe you could have Kenobi have premonitions of his encounter with Maul as well.
The issue there is that Ray Park had a falling out with Lucasfilm. However, any stuntman that looks close enough would work as long as Sam Witwer is still providing the voice.

To get us away from this tangent, I do wish Ady uses the classic subtitle font for Greedo.

@starwarsfonts is an excellent resource.
At the very least, redoing the crawls with After Effects’ virtual camera (like the ST) would be a visual upgrade over whatever was used for the PT.
Admiral Ackbar is an example of a “Glup Shitto” despite the extensive EU fiction around the character.
