Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

Dark_Jedi, as you know I am a big fan of your project and I donated a package of blanks for your efforts, but I don't think it's appropriate that you keep detracting from Harmy's project. Several pages back you said that you were going to let it go and not post anymore unless provoked, but you seem to keep popping back in the thread with snide remarks. Is there some animosity you have towards Harmy and his work?

whoa, whoa, calm down guys ;-)

I just wanna add, that I never claimed it to be 100% accurate, but there is no "my own specific vision of the UOT." I'm just trying to get as close as I can to what I'm convinced the real UOT is, while keeping it as high quality as possible - in that sense, that's exactly what DJ's doing: He doesn't know 100% sure what the actual UOT looked like, and he's trying to get the GOUT as close as possible to what he thinks it looked like.

When Mr. Harris was restoring the Godfather, he had one main highest quality source (the o-neg) and wherever the main source was damaged, he used the next best version (print) at his disposal and did whatever possible to make it look as close to the quality of the main source as possible. And I don't think anybody would say that it wasn't a restoration but that it was a re-edit. And that's exactly what I'm trying to do here: Use a high quality copy that is damaged in places and fix those damaged parts using the next best source available to me. Again, I don't claim that it's 100% accurate but I think that in terms of viewing experience, it is pretty close to what I'm convinced the UOT is.

I agree with you 100%, Harmy. What you're doing is not a "fan edit" by the normal definition of that term, but rather a restoration using multiple elements.

Do you have any of the old vintage figures or do you just collect the new ones?

I have all the old vintage 3.75" figures from 1977-1983 as well, but they're all just in a box. Next to the life-size displays they're not very impressive. LOL. I can post some pics of my life-size statues if Harmy doesn't think it would derail his thread too much.

Welcome back, Harmy. I don't blame you for not feeling the need to use the new blu-rays for v1.2 as I don't think from the looks of things they would really add much.

By the way, in a few of those pics it looks like you took a trip to my house as I have those exact life-size statues of Vader, Fett and the Stormtrooper. LOL.

Hey Harmy,

Before I burn this to a disc I just wanted to check and make sure that isn't an ESB v1.2 coming along. I'm pretty sure this version of ESB is perfect as is, but I thought I'd check just in case you had planned on making any minor changes. If this is the final release then I'll go ahead and burn it today. Cheers!!!

It depends on a point of view. I've got about 25% of it cut together and I'm about half way through  making the subs. But seeing as how I've already got all the other despecialized shots finished, I would say I'm nearly 90% done with Jedi altogether. But it's so f*cking hot here now that all I feel like doing is lying down watching movies, so my workflow is somewhat slowed down - therefore the prolonged estimated firing range ;-)

Not sure where you live, but here in Illinois it was 99 with a heat index of 117 yesterday and supposed to be just like that again today. It's some of the hottest weather I have ever experienced....and it sucks!!!!

"And then when I saw some other scenes that DJ sent me to use in my Despecialized Edition HD, there seriously were times when I was thinking: Why do I even bother, this already looks like HD."

...Now THAT is exciting! Especially considering how good V3 already is in relation to other GOUT upscales

You should check out the clip d_j posted a few pages back to see how good the Blu-ray looks compared to v3. It truly is night and day!!!
