Well, after reading most of the posts in that thread I'll just say that a couple of them are major a$$holes. Just read the comments posted by "the trumpet play" and "ETandElliot4Ever". Their degrading remarks about Adywan are the height of douschebaggery.

At this rate the only version that will ever be available is the XVID

I'm sitting here dying from the flu and while I didn't think it was possible to feel worse right now, that sentence certainly pushes me a step closer to the grave.

Keep positive thoughts, Ady, as I'm sure everything will work out for the best in time. You've persevered this long so don't give up now.

Then it will only take a day or two to finish the NTSC DVD-5. The DVD-9 versions will be a few weeks at least away though because there is a lot more to do for those.

Great news, Ady. I'm actually looking more forward to the DVD-5 than the Super Bowl.

First you keep pestering Ady to find out when the project will be completed and now your chastising people because they didn't spoon feed you this piece of information. Give it a rest, man.

Well, I disagree with your analysis as he was clearly being an ass about things, but yes it's probably best to let it go at this point and move forward with the thread.

Ady,

Screw Mojo_LA and his "Hollywood" friends. He can talk all he wants, but I guarantee none of them could put together an edit half as impressive as what you've done. Just ignore his and all the other haters' B.S. and keep up the awesome work you've been doing. 99% of us appreciate your work and who cares about that other 1% anyway.

Kurgan, I think the point should be made that people who liked the xvid version of Star Wars: Revisisted, and who thought it was fine as is, weren't "defending" Adywan but rather were doing the very same thing you are doing now: freely voicing their opinions. I happen to be one of those people who pretty much liked it as is; that doesn't mean I was trying to be a "good guy" and distance myself from those whose reaction to the edit differed from mine. It just means I was stating my opinion. If that makes you feel as though you're being targeted, then the issue is yours and no one else's.

As for comments to the effect that it's impossible to please everybody with this edit, I think that's a fair, factual statement. Based on what I've seen, it would be impossible for Adywan to make every change asked for -- speed up the TIEs, I like the TIE reveal, remodel the TIEs, the TIEs look great as they are, put a severed human arm in there, put a flipper in there, return the conversation in Ben's hut to the original version, keep the conversation in Ben's hut as is, etc, etc. There will always be something someone would like to change that will be at odds with another fan's wishes. Given this situation, I believe it's very accurate to say that not everyone can be pleased with this edit.

Finally, yes, Adywan has been and continues to be very open to criticism and feedback, but he himself said the amount of nitpicking going on here was a real downer. While I agree everyone is within their rights to keep posting their thoughts and feelings (that is what a discussion board is all about, right?), I just think there's not much point in doing so anymore if it's to pick apart the edit. Nothing more is going to come of it, and I think it's more important to focus on what we have received than what little we did not.

Amen, brother.

Kurgan,

You're entitled to your opinion just as I'm entitled to mine so on most points we'll just have to agree to disagree. Personally, I find it objectionable when a guy has worked his ass off for 18 months straight on something that he will be giving away for FREE only to encounter a thread full of people "nit-picking" and requesting tweaks, fixes, changes, etc. The quote from Ady "now I know how George Lucas feels" summed it up perfectly. Some Star Wars fans will NEVER be happy and nothing is going to change that. Ady could go back and make every minor change that's been requested in this thread and then have a whole new list of requests thrown his way. It never ends!!! Personally, I think we're all lucky to have someone as devoted as Ady to take the time and fix all of the things that were wrong with the 1997 and 2004 Special Editions. Will his edit be 100% perfect? No, it won't be, but it will still be a helluva lot better than the two efforts we got from Lucasfilm and to me that speaks volumes.

Hopefully we can put all this useless bickering to rest once and for all and just look forward to the DVD release.

I don't want to derail this thread any further, but I just have to call BS on this statement. How is it patronizing or rude to defend Adywan after he's said that he has done everything he originally envisioned with this edit and that he doesn't want to make any further changes? I'm sure there are little fixes here and there he could address, but he's stated time and time again that he's satisfied with the edit and officially done with it. The "rude" people are the ones who keep pestering him to make additional tweaks or changes. My feeling is this: either enjoy it for what it is, the best SW fan edit ever and something that surpasses what Lucas gave us in 1997 and 2004, or move along and don't bother watching it.

Its possible Neil didn't see the notice because he hasn't been following the thread and someone may have tipped him off that his name was included. Whatever. There's no need to be so... scornful.

That's exactly what happened. I haven't bothered with this thread or this project in a long time. I have a screen shot that a friend took with my name on it.

Thank you Adywan for re-rendering the credits. I trust that we won't have an issue anymore.

And I find it amusing that I'm the "rude" one yet I'm the one being called names.

Neil

You could've been more polite and/or private in your request, but it's not unexpected given your brash attitude that's been on display here many times in the past.
