The Prequel Radical Redux Ideas Thread
Time

Forgive me if this idea belongs in the ‘Worst Ideas’ thread, but had an idea of now some of us are able to use a.i generated audio what about replacing the opening crawl with a narration of the crawl instead.

So for say The Phantom Menace you would have Quigon, for Attack of the clones Padame and Revenge of the Sith Anakin.

Obviously this may belong in the worst ideas thread but hearing it in my head sounds pretty cool and a bit of a call back to some of the old fantasy films.

I’m new, be gentle.

I’m looking for some assistance. I followed the step-by-step instructions for the downloads. I have the .rar files for the .MKV version. I’m using 7Zip to unpack.

The instructions state than when you unzip the first file it should combine the files or something to that effect. That isn’t happening. What is happening is after I unzip the first file I see a video file. I go to play it and I get a copy of the film voiced over in some Eastern European language.

What am I doing or not doing right here?

Edit: I managed to get the audio working but the following tracks will not play. This is while attempting to play back on Windows 11 Media Player.

TRACK 1) 5.1 DTS-HD-MA [English] (1977 70mm six track mix)

TRACK 2) 2.0 DTS-HD-MA [English] (1977 35mm stereo mix)

TRACK 3) 1.0 DTS-HD-MA [English] (1977 35mm mono mix)

File part02.rar is also saying incorrect password.

Hi Fanafel,

I could be wrong but I’m guessing it’s the 7zip that’s not extracting all the files as 1 file.
Not used Windows for awhile but have you tried highlighting all the files and right clicking on the 1st one and then select extract.
Or maybe trying extracting each file individually (pretty sure you will get an error message tho).

Hi everyone, longtime Star Wars fan (since early childhood) and recently heard about the D+77 project, it looks absolutely amazing. I own legal copies of the films, and would like to obtain access, for personal viewing if possible. Still finding my way around the forums. Google brought me here after I searched for information about the project, but I haven’t been able to locate any details on how to access it. Any help would be appreciated, many thanks!

Just a suggestion but maybe try sending oohteedee a pm asking how to obtain a copy or 00jason has an excellent thread for new members here
https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/An-Index-Of-Projects-Help-Thread-for-Star-Wars-Preservations/id/57297
With information.

If all else fails I know their available on torrent sites.

Have a good browse around and I’m sure you will find plenty of cool and amazing projects here.

Kenobi: Hunt for the Jedi (DATA LOST, TEMPORARILY ON HOLD) - Obi-Wan Kenobi Mini Series Edit

So unfortunately, I might have lost all my data to a PC failure. The computer fell off of a desk, was refusing to turn on (proably forever, its an old computer anyway) and I am still waiting for the shop I contacted get back to see if the data can be recovered. All I have left is the trailer and screenshots.

For the moment this Fan Edit is temporarily on hold, though I am planning to get back to it. I do want to try fan-editing some other Star Wars Content first, however…

I’m pretty bummed that it failed, but I’m hoping I can soon recover and get back to it. I was already an hour and a half into editing the film’s new VFX, and was planning on sending a whole bunch of new screen shots and clips (which are now gone) this week.

😔That sucks sorry to read this MK.
If its not a mechanical hard drive you might be ok but guessing as you said it’s and old PC it is.

I would get a cheap sata to usb adapter first to try the drive before paying out for any data retrieval.

Documentaries and some intros
Time

Update: 24/11/25

Sorry if this inconvenience’s anyone but I no longer have these available. I decided to make room for more important preservations as these are already available.

https://forums.thestarwarstrilogy.com/threads/star-wars-officially-released-documentaries-and-special-features.6696/

Old Original Post

Hope I’ve posted this in the right section

Hi all, on my recent star wars binge and journey I started watching a lot of the old documentaries on YouTube and 00Jason was kind enough to share a txt document with me that contains a list of available documentaries online.
Unfortunately anything that’s on YouTube isn’t forever and can be taken down without any notice as I found out the hard way as there was an amazing documentary about the Port Talbot Plaza Cinema which I used to love watching.
Anyway I decided to download some of these Star Wars documentaries run them through handbrake so they are in all the same format of x265, ac3 stereo and uploaded them to my Mega account to help preserve them.

Here is a list of what I’ve managed to get.

Behind the scenes of Star Wars: The Original Trilogy ILM special effects makers.

CBS 60mins The Phantom Menace preview (April 1999).

From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga.

George Lucas: Academy Class of '89.

CBS Fox home Video intro 1983.

CBS Fox home Video intro 1984.

Star Wars THX intro 1997.

Oliver Harper’s Retrospective/Review: Star Wars.

Oliver Harper’s Retrospective/Review: The Empire Strikes Back.

Oliver Harper’s Retrospective/Review: Return of the Jedi.

Ralph McQuarrie: Tribute to a Master.

Star Wars: Classic Creatures Return of the Jedi 1983.

From Puppets to Pixels, the digital characters of Episode II.

Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition: Behind the Scenes.

Star Wars within a Minute: The Making of Episode III.

Star Wars Empire of Dreams (Full).

Star Wars The Beginning, the making of Episode I.

The characters of Star Wars featurette.

The Empire Strikes Back: SP-FX.

The Empire Strikes Back 30 years later: A conversation with the masters.

The Making of Star Wars 1977.

The Making of The Empire Strikes Back (by Michael Parbot 1980).

Obviously these are quite old and mostly old TV VHS rips that have been uploaded to YouTube so the quality isn’t exactly amazing or even great but thought they are nice to have.

If anyone would like a link please just send a PM, not requests in thread/post please, a polite pm goes a long way.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and take care.

Is 4k worth the upgrade???
Time

Like a lot of the other comments it really does depend on what you are watching but would also mention it will also depend on your setup also and do you feel the need to upgrade.
Myself I’m perfectly fine with bluray or dvd and not so long back I purchased a bluray player that upscales to 4k (it doesn’t play 4k discs but upscales the bluray to 4k) either way Terminator has never looked better on my 12" portable b&w😂, all jokes aside my tv is 56" 4K and the picture on dvd is just as good compared to bluray to my tired old eyes.
