I still think an optional title crawl based on the Backstroke subs is a good idea!
But the subs only translate a few lines from the crawl?
Unless they are all in the subtitle file and they're just not showing up.

Checking the YouTube video, I notice those subs differ with the first line saying "The war came!". Are the subs in the kit handmade?
Whoops, forgot about LEGO Star Wars.
I liked Jedi Power Battles (though I haven't gotten very far in it), the Dreamcast version is miles better than the sloppily controlled Playstation version.
I liked Shadows of the Empire, but someone borrowed it from me and never gave it back =(
Jedi Knight and Mysteries of the Sith. Especially with the Saber Battle X mods (JK | MotS). It's mostly meant for multiplayer, but it's worth it in SP just for the awesome looking Sabers.
Really liked the two Battlefront games, too.
Wanted to like Dark Forces, but it just makes me motion sick, and it's really hard to go back to 320 resolution these days (and I couldn't get any emulators to run the Mac version at full speed). Wanted to like Jedi Outcast, but the AI was terrible =/
Always wanted to try Bounty Hunter, but haven't had the chance yet.

I'd reach for my Special Collection from Japan.
Yes, but save Ep IV for last, as Arnie.d's already got that covered.
I'd love to see it too, but sadly, it seems that most here are either perfectly happy with the DVNR, or lack the equipment to do it themselves.
D_J redid the JSCs, but he's not going to release them =/
I find it strange that so many people are surprised that the GOUT isn't getting re-released on BluRay...
The most I'm hoping for is the colors to be fixed, to aid Adywan and friends B) But of course, we're in the dark about that until September or thereabouts =/
Worst. Surprise. Ever.
Unless this is one of those ARGs and we have to hack (what's left of) the link and reverse engineer backwards encrypted WAV files to discover the secrets.

...Luke and Vader's lightsabers still bleed through each other in front of the Emperor!
I won't be able to believe it if they don't fix that glaring error.
Fixing the colors should automatically fix that shot. It would be ridiculous to fix just that one shot and not the entire movie(s).

I haven't seen a video clip from the 97 SE Trilogy V2 to compare, but I would assume the quality of the picture is better than the GOUT.
According to Harmy's EpVI reconstruction, the G'KAR looks terrible.

It's possible. If they are going to finish the deleted scenes, then they will have to clean them up. There wouldn't be much to finish, actually...
They're doing all that?
I thought they were just putting in the "Luke's new lightsaber" scene, which I assumed would be proper cleaned up and inserted into the movie, like they did with Biggs and etc. in 2004.
We go to the cheap place all the time, Tron 2 looked fine when we saw it.
But maybe we shouldn't go so far off topic...

Pristine only happens opening weekend though. With digital projection taking over the multiplexes, a lot of people are never going to see a print that's been running for months, or in the case of Star Wars, an entire year. Movies just don't stay in theaters that long anymore.
It's the memory of seeing those not so pristine prints, is what some of us are responding to on an almost subliminal level with PG, and now PSB.
You should come to our cheap theatre. Ever since everything started going digital, the quality of the actual film reels that the cheap place show has taken a huge nosedive.
It's gotten a lot better lately, but the other day we saw The Fighter, and there were three spots where the film just went completely yellow for a little bit.
Very nice.
So does Zion have the JSC captures too, (or whatever else they were sourcing) or is it only the '93?

The aliasing and DVNR are still present of course.
This is only the Coffret capture, then?
No problem.

The reason it has to be BD is because of space. Even after compression it wouldn't fit properly on a dual layer DVD. You can compress this with AVC and put each film onto its own BD - 25 gigs each should be plenty. Audio could use a lossless codec on BD, too.
Uh...you do realize the reason these are so large is because they're raw transfers? And I'm assuming there are multiple passes of each disc...and from what I can recall, transfers of more than one source per movie.
So throwing all of that onto a BluRay is not going to make them instantly watchable, it would only be a medium to transfer the data.

I really think most people that are saying that the JSC set LD captures look great are not viewing them on a large screen HDTV.
Nah, I can't handle the GOUT at all. All the DVNR smearing just makes anything that moves (almost everything) look like a blurry mess. Though I was skimming through RotJ the other day (not sure I've ever even watched that one on GOUT before) and there doesn't seem to be any smearing?? At least not for the first hour or so, I didn't get all the way through yet.
If you want to see bad, try watching the VHS on a big screen :| That was...quite an interesting experience...
Well right now he's just releasing sample clips, so I don't think it's going to be a concern for a while ;)

I guess you mean 35mm.
Yeah. I've been doing too much programming lately, so I've got powers-of-two on the brain.
I don't have an account.
I have a torrent I could contribute, but I'm already running it on Demonoid and I don't know if uploading it to a second place is as simple as it should be (never tried it).
It may not be as easy to work with as the GOUT, but as far as sitting down and just watching the theatrical movies without DVNR, it's obviously not going to look any better until we have 32mm preservations (and even there, it's looking iffy).

However, the JSC isn't the holy grail.
DAMN, I could not agree with you more, but some here really think it is the SHIT, the end all be all.
It's not the Holy Grail, but unfortunately, as the years go by, it seems more and more likely that this is as good as it's ever going to get.
I'd love to take up the project myself, but I don't really know much about this sort of thing.

...that's why it hurts so much when his continuation with the X-9 seems to have died.
That and he never got anything at all released for the other two movies =(
I'm sure there will be other projects in the future (not to mention the reconstructions and 16/32mm preservations). It just gets hard with all the waiting, sometimes.
I'm hoping the BDs will fix the colors and aid reconstructions even further, but......I'm not holding my breath...
