I don't think I want to know where you guys are getting the money for all these extra reels @_@
I'd better not hear that the project's been canceled because everyone's in jail.
Man, Waterworld doesn't look very high-def at all.

Yeah, the comment was in regards to Harmy's restoration project video that you referenced, which, iirc, is in 720p...
Oh, I see.
If I remember correctly, Harmy's Despecialized is in 720p because he did some tests with the official BluRay footage, and couldn't notice much difference in quality (suggesting that the master video for the BDs is, in fact, 720p).
BD25s are only 720p?

How would pictures of the setup compromise your privacy?
Maybe the projector is stamped all over with "PROPERTY OF LUCASARTS".
...too soon? :(

of course, those people who only prefer dvd9 or even dvd5 size never learn. you cant really appreciate the quality of the movie & restauration like that.
That would still be miles better than any other preservation we have at the moment.
Also, not everyone has the means to download a file that huge, or to store a file(s) that huge, or to watch high definition content on their TVs.
But you're right, by the time this is finished and released, things may be very different.

The sky looks like it is made of blotches of blue and brown.
I've noticed the "brown grain" in a lot of films from that time period, I don't think it's anything to be concerned about.
The GOUT for Jedi really isn't that bad.
...not that I'm saying this shouldn't happen =) Just saying, Jedi got really lucky compared to the first two.
Can't remember if it had really bad telecine wobble though, I usually watch the PAL preservation. Reinventing the Wheel, I think it was called.

Each time I watch these clips, I get disappointed when it reaches the end. I just want them to go on until the end of the movie.
I know what you mean =(
...maybe if we splice all of the clips together... >:)
Why couldn't they just use the table read from the official DVD?

P.S.: If anyone's interested in watching the movie beforehand, it can be found on Amazon Prime Video or on YouTube in its entirety (however, in quite poor versions of course).
Last time I checked, it was on Netflix streaming, also.

This might sound completely crazy, but I wonder if someone could use Oculus Rift (a virtual reality headset for those who don't know) to virtually sit in a Cinerama movie theater?

Dailymotion streams the video at variable rates.
You can watch in 320p/480p/720p and 1080p.
Yes, and all of them are much more hardware intensive than YouTube =) Not much point in watching at 320p with a terrible framerate.
On the desktop right now, watching some of the clips. Really great stuff, and I have to agree, Jedi deserves to be preserved just as much as the other two. Just because a lot of people don't like it as much as the other two, doesn't mean it isn't important to preserve the original unbutchered version of it.

How about the emperor's close up while taunting Luke? I'd like to see how visible (or not) those optical black slugs are, and how much of a difference color correction makes when it comes to seeing them. Thanks
That's a good idea.

We know there doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in Jedi.
I'm interested, I just don't have a lot to input anymore =)
Also, I've been browsing using my laptop a lot lately, and it's not quite powerful enough to watch the videos =( And then I forget to check them later on my desktop.
So I saw a commercial last night that reminded me of this thread: they're making curved televisions now!
I don't mind the dirt at all, but the rainbowing does get a little annoying.

Also, TeamNegative1 kindly allowed me to use their transfer of the original crawl, so the preview is already obsolete. :)
If you're after the original '78 crawl, why not just use the one from the GOUT?
I don't know if it's of any use to you guys, but this movie is on Netflix Streaming right now.
I didn't check to see if it was the BD master or not.
Oh, okay. I had a hunch.
That's 8mm film?? O_O

Both. :-)
Any chance it'll be ready by May 4th? I'm planning a marathon, but my friend didn't like Puggo Grande :(

My #1 priority at this point in time is to make sure that my HDD isn't the only copy of this thing...
Ah, good idea.
Is someone already working on color correcting this, or is it just being thrown out there and whoever wants to can do what they want?

I did wonder...
Wonder about what? How it compares to the Sony?
