If you need to B*tch about something... this is the place
Time

My mom thinks I’m a failure, just because I don’t yet have a career and I can’t go to bed on time. She seems to have no respect for the idea of me doing film full time. Granted, I do need to push myself to actually make films rather than sit around at my computer. Regardless, my mom is completely oblivious to any projects I’m working on or internal conflicts. She thinks I just do nothing out of laziness without seeing the nuance of a troubled psyche. Now she’s threatening to kick me out of the house even though I have no job and I’m just about to start university. She berates me for not hanging out with friends IRL as if it were so fucking easy. She just doesn’t understand me on any level.

Hello there!
I am new to this forum (although I have followed it for a while) and I wanted to share with you some images edited in FaceApp about what Alec Guinness and Sebastian Shaw would look like as Obi-Wan and Anakin in the prequels
I think that you could kind of “deepfake” those actors over the prequel ones using FaceApp and EbSynth (to de-age them and paste their faces over the keyframes)
Sorry about the bad english, it isn’t my main language

That’s neat, but I’d honestly be more interested in McGregor over Guinness. Admittedly, Shaw over Christensen does look really good, though. Almost reminds me of John Barrowman.

Sorry, but this ain’t a 30’s serial. It’s 2020, audiences expect more complicated storytelling than just “he escaped.”

Lemme rephrase this: The Master always escapes.

But the whole Chosen One thingy is about him destroying the Sith and bringing balance to the force. If he didn’t actually kill the last Sith, that makes the whole thing seem really stupid. I know some people didn’t like the prophecy, but that doesn’t mean you can just ignore it and pretend it never happened.

Idk. I like the Prequels but the Prophecy I can take it or leave it. Doesn’t really do much either way.

Anyway, Palpatine coming back as a clone feels super cheap and cheesy. Besides, Palpatine is one of the two most powerful mortal Force users in the Galaxy (the other of course being Yoda). And I ain’t talking potential and mid-chlorian counts, just in terms of what they are capable of. Therefore, it stands to reason that it is plausible for him to survive being thrown down a reactor shaft. Luke survived such a fall no problem. Yes, there was also Force lightning, but it was his Force lightning, so it’s reasonable to suggest he had enough control over it to at least not kill himself. Then again, that’s how he dies in TRoS and has his true face revealed in RotS, so who knows. But hey, points for poetry for having every trilogy end with Palpatine electrocuting himself.

But if they wanted to preserve their own lives, couldn’t they just send droids to lightspeed ram ships? Droids have already been established as being intelligent enough to pilot ships on their own, so why couldn’t they just send unmanned lightspeed missiles to blow up whatever threat was in their way?

Why don’t they use droid for all space combat? and ground combat for that matter? Why do any humans ever have to be involved? Star Wars defeated with facts and logic.

As for introducing Palpatine, Jake, I’m gonna be honest, that’s a really dumb idea. His introduction fits perfectly as a cliffhanger ending to TLJ. Leave it at that.

I like this placement for Vader’s Castle, but that’s purely for shot composition. Are there any other shots where it’d be visible?

I feel pretty settled about the level and method of including DOTF in the duel. It’s noticeable but subtle, brief, and leads into existing music after a gap with no score.

Could you post a link to it? I think Battle of the Heroes would be more fitting to emphasize the water/lava parallel.

In terms of music, while I do agree we shouldn’t add it purely for the sake of filling gaps, I think that as a finale this film ought to have lots of musical callbacks. The Original music has been aped to death but we need some good Prequel sprinklings in there.

  • Kylo frees himself of the oppression of his Master Snoke, except now he just works for another evil mastermind.

Except the way I see it, not really. Palpatine never formally takes him on as an apprentice. It’s more of an equal alliance of two people who wanna kill each other and know it. I think we should lean to this more by removing the implication that Kylo is following the Emperor’s orders by finding Rey. By leaving out Palpatine telling Kylo to bring Rey to him, maybe we could imply that Kylo is seeking her out out of his own free will so she can help him take out the Emperor.

Alternatively, I would like to see if you could have Palpatine in TROS, “My boy, I trained Snoke.”

The idea that Snoke was just another apprentice of Palpatine, like Maul, Dooku or Vader before him would make the Snoke-Palpatine connection a lot simpler than Palpatine saying he made him. Him making Snoke still leaves us with a lot of unanswered questions. Who is Snoke a clone of? Why did he have multiple clones of him? Why did Palpatine puppeteer him in particular? Etc, etc. Did Snoke know he was being controlled by Palpatine, or did Palpatine control him completely?

I also think Snoke having his own agency keeps Kylo killing him feel like a big accomplishment rather than just another test by Palpatine.

That’s exactly what I’ve been wanting to do. Is there any instance of Palpatine saying “trained” that would work here?
