In what way I should watch a Star Wars Marathon?

Best Viewing Order!

Star Wars Despecialized
Star Wars Holiday Special
Empire Strikes Back Despecialized
Droids cartoon all episodes
Return of the Jedi Despecialized
Both Ewok Movies

Now rewatch the original trilogy but the 1997 Special Editions

Episode 1
Episode 2 IMAX cut
Episode 2 DVD cut
2D Clone Wars cartoon Volume 1+2
Episode 3
Robot Chicken Star Wars
Family Guy Star Wars

At this point watch Willow and Red Tails

Next is to run through the entire Blu-Ray complete Saga of the six Star Wars movies so that you can see all the “improvements”

Now watch the Clone Wars movie and subsequent TV show all the way through.

Once that is finished watch Season 1 and 2 of Rebels
Then watch The Force Awakens
Then watch rebels season 3
then watch Rogue One
Then watch the Hal1000 edits of the prequel trilogy
Then watch all the deleted scenes from all eight main series films
Then watch Empire of Dreams
You are now ready for the Last Jedi

You’ll be done just in time for Episode VIII IX.

Disney to buy 20th (21st) Century Fox? (Disney has now bought them - 14 Dec '17)

WB only distributed the theatrical TCW film and released the show on video. I’m sure all the rights have always resided with Lucasfilm.

Then why did they cancel the show when it was so close to being finished? 😦

I wouldn’t call two and half more seasons “almost finished”.

And what about CGI-Tarkin in R1? Does he look real to you?

Though I didn’t directly say it, I would’ve hoped my EA Battlefront remark would’ve made it clear that I don’t think CGI is at the level of making realistic human faces. That said, Leia in Rogue One looked fine, but I think that’s mainly down to picking an actress who was already pretty close. Young people are probably easier cuz there’s less wrinkles to worry about. In the end I guess, CGI is capable of competently recreating faces, but only when it’s adjusting the face of someone who already looks pretty close. Now if only Doctor Who had the budget to do that for a whole episode…

I didn’t count the Scorpion King cuz I’d heard he wasn’t finished when the studio rushed the film to theaters. I just did some research on it now, and I can’t find a clear-cut answer, though that one is tossed around here and there.

Anything else you don’t count that we should be aware of?

The Scorpion King was the only one I could think of (which I had considered someone else mentioned it). Given that I couldn’t find any source on the effect being rushed, I guess it counts, but that’s the only one that come to mind. Oh, wait, there’s also these guys, though that’s to be expected of a 90s music video.

I’m probably in the minority but the cgi in the prequels “mostly” doesn’t bother me.

CGI doesn’t bother at all in anything. I can’t think of any CGI effect SW or otherwise that looked glaringly fake, which is why I can’t stand it when people complain that a movie has too much CGI. How do you even notice? Sure, I can sometimes deduce what’s CGI based on the practically of filming it, but even then, it still looks real. In fact, anytime there’s no visible faces, I think EA Battlefront looks like live-action (granted the way the characters move still looks unnatural and gamey, but that’s besides the point).

Am I the only one who would rather watch R1 after the OT instead of before ANH?

If you’ve seen them all before, I don’t see anything wrong with having RO before ANH. You could even cut to ANH crawl instead of RO’s credits and have the two flow seemlessly together.

STAR WARS EPISODE I: Dawn of War (Old Version) (* unfinished project *)
Time

Episode I is coming along very nicely. One thing that I’m prioritizing is improving the digital Mos Espa mattes by completely removing them. For a backwater desert town there are too many “skyscrapers” and weird floating… gas platforms? Those are all going away!

Skyscrapers are too much for a backwater town but a giant sports arena isn’t?

[dumb kid rant]

I kinda miss the prequels. When they came out, I loved them. Of course, I was still in the single-digit ages and didn’t understand what competent filmmaking was, but I miss that naïve appreciation I had for them. I even kinda miss the awful, ugly VHS/DVD cover art with the gold Roman numerals behind the logo.

Pretty soon I’ll be back to accepting 6 Star Wars movies again, I’ll just have replaced the PT with TFA, R1 and TLJ. It’s better this way, but bittersweet.

[end of dumb kid rant]

Just play Lego SW. You can’t tell how terrible the source material is when everyone is mute.

Personally, though I’m now old enough to see their flaws, I accept the Prequels what they are, as part of canon and as Episodes I-III. Besides, the only one I really dislike is AotC, but at least we’ve got fanedits for that.

Btw, I like the roman numerals behind the logo.

It helps explain many of JJ Abrams directing choices for the Force Awakens (practical effects).

What ? Most of EpI is practical effects. Do you think Maz is practical effet ?

Sorry. I was too lazy to come up with something else and besides the Phantom Menace has the worst looking Blu Ray of the series, mainly due to the CGI.

I bet you can’t even tell which parts are CGI.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 - controversy thoughts?
Time

Now today I have to pay to get content in the new Zelda game.

Are you seriously comparing Nintendo to EA? Nintendo is one of the few companies who do DLC right. You can play through all of Breath of the Wild without paying extra. You’re not being handicapped either. All you’re missing is a bit of side content, and content that, IMO, isn’t even remotely interesting, though it remains to be seen if the last DLC pack will have something worthwhile.

Regarding the argument that the “Shaw ghost never existed”, well…the Hayden ghost never existed in that specific form either. He clearly has both arms intact when one should be missing (and yes, both hands are visible in the wide shot). So if the Hayden ghost is okay from that standpoint, then so is the Shaw ghost. Therefore, the “Shaw ghost never existed” argument is no longer valid.

I’m not saying the Hayden ghost is perfect. It’s just the less wrong option.

Best argument for Shaw being there is that WE JUST SAW HIM DIE.

The Shaw we saw die and the one who appears as a ghost look very different.

Once again, if you think his ghost should have been scarred, then Obi-Wan’s ghost should be missing his lower half.
It’s clearly the same man.

The difference is that Obi-Wan wasn’t cut down until he died. Shaw’s ghost is appearing as someone who never existed.

I get it. You like the horrible PT films. It’s just easier for me to say he never looked like Hayden because that character never existed for me.
It’s still backwards thinking though. The PT kool-aid has poisoned your mind.

Until the Prequels came along, it made sense to have Shaw as the ghost, since, for all we know, that could’ve been what Anakin looked like. If you’d rather pretend they never came along, having Shaw’s ghost makes perfect sense.
