The Dream of the Giant Fractal Woodlouse.
Time

I kept starting and exiting this turn-based medieval strategy game. Eventually I decided to actually play. Now, I was a soldier (though still dressed in everyday clothes) marching in line with my cousin from the TV room to the bathroom. To motivate us, our commander told us the last one to get to the bathroom would be killed. An ostrich rider fell noticeably behind, so upon reaching the bathroom, the commander pinned the ostrich down, and stepped on its neck ‘till it was dead. Now we marched back to begin some kind of Lego related battle game, and our base was the TV room (I have lego on the shelves there). My cousin Frodo suggested we loot the shelves while no one was looking.

Now I was at the kitchen sink downstairs, washing a suitcase to which had been attached a label saying owner had been accused of wife-beating and had to appear in court. I then handed it to Johnny Depp’s wife, telling her not to shoot the messenger (a message probably better addressed to Depp himself, but told myself he’d best be avoided at the moment, given he’d probably be mad) (an eerily appropriate statement, given I haven’t followed this story in the slightest).

Still downstairs, me and some others began wondering what the other team was doing that was taking so long. We knew they were in the TV room, and were waiting for them to strike. I guess I must’ve switched sides. I head towards the staircase to check it out when I see my cousin sitting on the steps, and below him, my brother pushing what I can only describe as a monstrous-looking black Lego lawnmower covered in Lego blades (though it does not function as such, serving more as a battle tank), with my cat sitting happily in a compartment on top. The siege has begun.

Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *

The playing up of the “end of the Skywalker Saga” is putting a ton of pressure on this film to wrap up an 8 film juggernaut. It also pretty much confirms that Kylo gonna die.

I really don’t get why people are saying that. Before Disney, people would’ve said the Skywalker Saga ended with RotJ, and Luke didn’t die in that. It’s not the end of the Skywalker lineage; it’s the end of a saga that just so happens to be in large part about the Skywalkers.

I finally got around to trying Valerian. I read the first story, Bad Dreams. It was not very good. I wouldn’t call it bad, per say, but boring. There’s nothing really of interest in the story. I won’t be starting the next story anytime soon (especially since it’s a two-parter), though I did get the Omnibus edition, meaning it’s at my disposal if I ever chose to do so.

And I can’t go without mentioning the part where Valerian tells his unicorn friend he needs a horse. Why?! Just ride her!

Finishing The Lord of the Rings in audiobook format with the songs removed/replaced.

It’s amazing how much better the story is for me with Rob Inglis’ singing removed. Inglis’ renditions are grating and tiresome. I really did enjoy the story quite a bit, but I think Tolkien inserting umpteen pages of song lyrics into the plot breaks the flow and is unnecessary. It would have been better to put the lyrics in the appendix than to insert them in the story itself.

I never had the patience for Tolkien. He’s far too meandering.

Apart from The Last Jedi, which is currently my all-time favourite Star Wars movie

I’m sorry, what?

What? Is it some sort of crime to rank TLJ as my all-time favourite SW movie?

Don’t you know? Ranking any Star Wars film above ESB (except ANH or RotJ, depending on how the community feels that day) is punishable through death by rancor pit.

BTW, I’m surprised you liked Star Wars Rebels after the way the butchered Thrawn, a methodical military strategist who’s twenty steps ahead of everybody and lends himself to more mature storylines, ruined by being introduced in a kid’s show and being thwarted by whiny teenager Ezra Bridger.

I agree with Rebels, though it’s problems go far beyond ruining Thrawn. I’d argue the only real issue with how they handled him is how he just continuously lets the rebels win on purpose to “study” them. It’s a cheap excuse, but not as bad as having him lose to them weekly through mere incompetence. Plus, when he finally unleashes his attack, he does a damn good job.

My problems have more to do with the dull stories, bland new protagonist (Ezra), and overall childish tone (and I say this as someone who watches mostly kids’ shows). At first, I was apprehensive about using an all-new cast, but all of the characters were well used in the end. All but Ezra.

But now can I get the show I actually wanted? You know, with Luke, Han, and Leia going on adventures between ANH and ESB? What’s that? You’re relegating that to comics? Thanks a lot. /s

Under Disney I’ve already noticed Star Wars is becoming increasingly sanitised. Case in point the Hutt species. In the original canon all Hutts were hermaphrodites with some having a more masculine personality whilst others having a more feminine one. Now in the new Disney canon the Hutts are strictly male and female. Another example is the near-complete removal of sexy female characters, starting with Disney no longer selling slave Leia outfits. Remember Darth Talon? Or Quinlan Vos’ sexy wife from the old EU? I guarantee we will never see those types of characters ever again in SW.

Actually, Darth Talon was considered for the ST, appearing in early concept art as the one to literally seduce Ben to the dark side.

IMO it would have been a lot better if Ahsoka had been introduced as the Padawan of one the many background Jedi Masters glimpsed in the prequels and have her story take place during the Clone Wars but removed from Anakin and Obi-Wan, fighting her own battles and occasionally crossing paths with Anakin and Obi-Wan. It would have expanded the Galaxy instead of having everyone knowing everyone.

She was actually meant to be a new Jedi’s master back when Filoni conceived the show as starring all new characters, and being overall much closer to Rebels. Lucas said it should be about Anakin and Obi-Wan, but liked Ahsoka, so they kept her. Filoni thought she should be Obi-Wan’s apprentice, but Lucas said she should be Anakin’s.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars To Return With New Episodes

Based on production codes and whatnot, I’ve determined that the show is missing 52 episodes, 20 of which have been covered in other media. I also know every single arc, assuming that the two we have no episode count for are four episodes, like every other missing arc (they were clearly planning on making all stories that length; kinda like Classic Doctor Who, come to think of it).

The whole “revived” series looks much more film accurate. The Jedi now wear full robes. Before only had a variant of clone armor, due to technical restrictions.

Or because, you know, fighting in full-length robes isn’t practical. There’s a reason Jedi remove their robes before a fight. Besides, they had full length robes for Shaak Ti.

I sincerely hope the 12 episodes are just the second half of season 6, and that we get seasons 7 and 8 after that. That way, we’d have every planned episode completed. That said, if it does come down to only 12 episodes, I agree we shouldn’t waste them on stories that have already been told. If they stop at twelve, I’ll be annoyed they even wasted four on the Bad Batch arc.

BTW, I can’t be the only one who noticed Anakin’s longer hair. I hadn’t even noticed it was any shorter in TCW than RotS, but I guess not anymore. Actually, upon closer inspection, it appears to be the same length, just wavier.

Trailer

12 new episodes are coming to Disney’s upcoming streaming service.

Finally, we’ll get to see the intended ending for the series, which ended two and half season earlier than intended. The worst part is we still don’t know exactly why, and there many potential reasons. But that’s not so important now that it’s back.

It’s a little strange that they’re doing this at the same time as Resistance, since it will likely overshadow it. I guess they’re aiming for a later release date, which would be strange given that despite coming this fall, we don’t even have a trailer for Resistance.
