He is able to exit Hyperspace between the Starkiller’s shields and the planet’s crust, a feat lifted from an early script of TPM where only Anakin’s Force ability was able to manage such a thing.

And no, the Force has always consistently been something that anyone can learn, but that some have a natural affinity for. That hasn’t changed.

Then why did Rey just suddenly get her powers, without working for anything? It’s explained very clearly in TLJ as the “darkness rises, and light to meet it”. Since Kylo trained for many years to become a dark lord, Rey must get all those powers within a couple days to restore balance (probably because Luke shut himself out).

Because she has that natural affinity for it I mentioned. That and the fact that she took Force knowledge from Kylo when he searched her mind, something which is unfortunately not made very clear in the film.

All the ending shows is one boy suddenly getting force powers.

There is absolutely nothing to indicate it was sudden. In fact, the way he casually uses the Force seems to indicate he’s been using it for a long time.

What if we made the Guavian Death Gang simply troops of the First Order? The Irish guy could be a Knight of Ren, and the troopers could be special First Order Troopers, providing a reason to reuse such a badass design. Hell, they would’ve made sweet praetorian guards. Alas, none of this is really doable. You’d have to completely replace the Irish guy and the praetorian guards, which is just not possible.

I don’t think TPM is any more prone to edits than the other two Prequels, especially given the whole “TPM is unnecessary” argument.

Anyway, back to the spy idea, when you say that it would be someone neutral just trying to get by, I can’t imagine it being anyone but DJ. It just suits his character so well. However, having him among the Resistance would be incredibly hard to accomplish.

You’re telling me the ST crew actually bothered looking at scripts for the Prequels?

Here’s an idea. Vicki stays onboard the Tardis after The Myth Makers and takes up Katarina’s role in The Daleks’ Masterplan. As it stands, Katarina, despite having massive potential, is wasted and serves no purpose in the story. Since we’d be working with recons, swapping out characters shouldn’t be too hard.

Speaking of Masterplan, based on the title, I came to realize Mavic Chen being the Master would actually feel really appropriate. Just add a line or two stating this and there you go. The actor who plays him also plays a similar villain-assisting role in The Invasion as Tobias Vaughn. I haven’t seen it yet, but perhaps that could be that same Master, and he was just using a disguise in Masterplan, something the Master has been known to do. I guess thanks to being mostly recons, you could just make Chen look like Vaughn, but then what would you do for the episodes that aren’t missing?

Something brilliant I’ve seen done is having the faces offered to the Second Doctor in The War Games be his future incarnations.

I second that. Maybe you could try changing the color of Takodana’s sky? To play Devil’s advocate, you could just remove Rey’s line. After all, Takodana looks real nice in fall colors.

Oh wait, I have an idea. Instead of the bland Disney Era planets, replace them with the far more creative Lucas Era planets. Between the Order 66 montage and TCW, there’s a lot of planets with fantastic visuals that are very much out of this world. Of course, the problem would be editing them in. It probably wouldn’t be doable. Maybe with enough added elements from the originals, we can make it work? It’s the cactus principle I mentioned earlier about adding rather than changing. Add some of its iconic plants (or fungi apparently) and Takodana is now Felucia. On a non-Lucas-related note, we could make D’Qar Lothal. It has an interesting McQuarrie-based design, and it could mesh well with what’s already in the film. Hell, the iconic mountains are even there, just need to recolor them. And I guess Jakku could be that junk world Maul spent a decade going insane on? Yeah, all of these would be a massive amount of work.

You could replace TC-14 with 3PO for a quick cameo.

I’d considered that, although I’d rather not. There’s no reason for him to be there, and with the amount of frame-by-frame work require (I insist he be golden), I might as well splice him into another scene. That’s actually something I’d considered doing with Battlefront footage. I can’t chroma key him because of the reflection, but frame-by-frame in an image editor might work pretty well with the magic wand tool.

I feel like you’d have to shift the ‘point of view’ character to Anakin for this to work, taking the place of Luke or Rey as the protagonist. Maybe the Naboo royal starship is just the Jedi’s ship?

Given the choice, I’d put the focus on Obi-Wan, or make Anakin older and focus on him, but the movie’s convinced that Qui-Gon’s the protagonist for some bizarre reason. Honestly, the best POV character after him would be Padme.
