"Future Theatrical and DVD Releases" What do we think they will be?

For DVD's I think a I-VI boxset is inevitable, as are the complete Clone War series collected in a single double-disk special edition. Maybe Droids and Ewok series, as was mentioned. Personally, i find it kinda surprising that there is going to be more Lucasfilm DVD's, since pretty much everything is already available and Blu-Ray remains an untapped format. Maybe Graffiti is going to finally be given a remastered re-release, as the current dvd is well over 5 years old and pretty rough looking.

The theatrical release comment is pretty exciting--obviously in reference to the SW saga being released in its entirety, but we knew this was coming one day soon. Personally my feeling is that they will release a new episode every week, just like the serial films of the 30's, so you can follow the series week by week from I-VI.

I do, however, hope that the ewok films are cleaned up a little better for a new DVD release.

I actually prefer the DVDs and can't wait for more edits, seriously.

Also do you (or anyone else for that matter) know if theres truth in the rumor that george lucas diddnt ask or tell Hayden Christensen that he was putting him in scene, and he just used footage from his screen test to do it?

Supposedly, Hayden said in an interview that it was stock footage, and that he was unaware of it. But it has never really been confirmed officially...

That's why I made my post above, so as to make it clear that I don't plan to comment on it.

Hmm...maybe it's just me, but it seems to me that, in "resisting to make a comment," you made a comment on the post. If you want to make it clear you don't plan to comment on it, don't say anything! Jeez. I'm siding with kev, here, Adam. You're not making a good case for yourself.

No. In that post, I gave a "response." A comment would be if I were to respond to the actual content of HLF's post. My post pretty much let everyone know that I don't plan to comment on the post. It was a statement, not a response to her post specifically. You see, in order to let everyone know who I was not going to respond to, I had to quote HLF.

As a person with ADD, I suppose my opnion on replay value is biased anyway. I guess I should rephrase what I meant:

I enjoy all of the films in the same way. But I don't watchany of them very much, becuase I have a low attention span.

No thats your opinion, I dont find it as enjoyable because of Jar Jar and think the podrace goes on too long especially in the official one,and I think the others are of better quality, I try at least to see the original film at least once or twice a fortnight, then Empire then probably Jedi or Sith depending on what time i have available.

Well, for example, the pod race in TPM may go on for FAR to long, but so do the Jabba scenes in ROTJ. However, I have no problem with that, since the pod race scenes are there to show off the fact that (in addition to the fact that they need him to win in order to get off of the planet) Anakin is an exceptional podracer and strong with the force, and the ROTJ Jabba scenes are meant to (in addition to showing the rescue of Han) show off the fact that Luke is now a Jedi Knight, and much stronger than when we last rescue. So, although both films are not perfect, they can be enjoyed equally for different reasons.

Well, JDs post was meant to represent the opinions of young people toward the PT, so I think that allows my post to be taken into consideration.

A very odd post I must say.

Isn't that all pretty obvious from simply watching the films or moreover listening to Lucas's endless rhetoric.

I still have big problems linking the two Trilogies. They seem like chalk and cheese to me.

The OT was inventive, original (well, traditional with a twist), funny, clever and above all entertaining. The PT for me was trite and derivitive and lacked all that made the OT such a big part of childhood. I really don't think that the PT will grow with it's child audience the way that the OT did with my generation. My newphews have grown up with the PT and have already moved on. They still like the OT but say that the PT is good for their little cousin - aged 4.

I don't think this TV series will do much to help matters either.

JD

I have to agree, to me the saga is like putting a square peg into a round hole it doesnt fit IMO, I can watch the Prequel films if I feel like it but I dont find them as enjoyable and dont have the same replay value as the Original films and I also notice the quality drop from the original films especially Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back.

To be honest, I rarely set through any of the films anymore. Now, I mostly read the books/comics (which I find superior to the films). If it weren't for the EU, Star Wars would be pretty dry, IMHO. And, IMO, all of the films have an equal replay value. I really don't think ANH is any better than, say, TPM.

Well, here's what I honestly expect:

- Definitive saga box set DVDs / Blu-ray

- Droids and Ewoks complete series DVDs / Blu-ray

- Possible Clone Wars DVD / Blu-ray re-release

- Possible holiday special DVD / Blu-ray limited release

- 3D theatrical release of the saga

- 3D Clone Wars DVD /Blu-ray release

- Live-action series DVD / Blu-ray release

Well, JD, I'm 17 years old (introduced to TPM at age 10), and I consider all of the films to be on the same level. I mean, they are all quite fun, entertaining, and thought provoking. And honestly, I couldn't ask for more. Now, none of them are reference material as far as filmmaking goes. But that's not the point.

How Did You Find OT.com?

I like Chefelf's section on the holiday special.

Unlike most sites who bash it, he goes all in-depth in his bashing.
