Yes, I agree. It would be best to focus on Episode I first, but don't forget the story points in the other films while you're focusing on it, or you might cause plot holes like Lucas has.

IMO, even among fan films, "Spirits of the Force" is one of the most horribly acted. The story seems silly at times, with cliche situations. And I always wonder why those fan filmmakers always feel the need to put an opening crawl at the beginning of every fan film. If only they could be original for once, and not attempt to copy the style of the films. That, IMO, is one of the primary factors in the fan films that gives them the appearance of being amateuish. But, overall, "Spirits of the Force" seemed to me to be a good attempt at tying in with the EU, especially Kyle's run-in with Jerec in Dark Forces II.

Exactly. I have found that many times, those who will swear to their death that the PT sucks and has bad dialogue, are the same ones who like to forget that many lines in the OT are quite silly, cheasy, and cliche.

I must differ. Ian is always great, and Ewan, IMO, gave a MUCH better proformance than he ever has (see The Island for an example of bad)

Lucas said in that AOL interview with Hayden that he never really had a backstory (Yoda's personal backstory that is), and intends it now to be left a mystery. Thogh when asks by a fan in the interview, he said "Well, I'd expect you to know more about him then I do," indicating that Lucas thinks the EU has already explained it.
