THE OT SOUNDTRACKS SALVAGE - SWESBROTJ -"remastered"(so far)+ LP's (Released)
Time

@EyeShotFirst

I can't stand the Parade of the Ewok if it is what you're talking about. I think I heard it too many times when I was young. Hearing it in the end credits is no matter but is quite enough for me. I guess you took off at least one track to make this possible (76min)...?

Edit: And I don't like too much repetitions. That why my set is so... Exhaustive, in a way.

But your set almost replaced my anthology

"Almost"?... Only?!... :)

Thanks for the accuracy of your feelings Hairy_hen, it's definitively a real pleasure to know how you people experience these versions, as to share this work with such auditors.

... And sorry for the Alternate opening, I like its simplicity very much and the sound it had - and I could made with it - made me vote for this one. I hope the whole listening experience will make you forget that. :)

JEDI MASTER REVEALED was part of CITY IN THE CLOUDS on the Anthology album and on the Special Edition it was placed correctly before MYNOCK CAVE, so you have it also on CD2 track 4.

Also, I see now that you have LUKE'S NOCTURNAL VISITOR twice on CD1, it was the second half of THE TRAINING OF A JEDI KNIGHT on the Anthology. This is just small things on a REALLY GREAT SOUNDING EMPIRE SCORE and it's easy to correct for yourself.

Oooh ok ! I remember having wondering if the first one may be an alternate. Anyway City in the Clouds sounds great with that cue, and I like to have it isolated too. So to answer your first question: it's not really a mistake.

I' m enjoying to read they're so good for you guys ! :)

I don't know if it's a mistake or not but you have placed JEDI MASTER REVEALED two times on the score, one from the Anthology & one from The Special Edition

I don' t think so... Don' t you confuse "JEDI MASTER REVEALED" with "Yoda and The force" or something of this kind ? If you told which is the second track it would have been convenient for finding out.

No no, I mean there's actually a ~200px high bar at the bottom that has completely different colour:

HAHAAA !!! You have the EYE ! OMG ! I've displaced my colour filter !!! Well done !

EDIT: I remember now, I re-centered the poster after have worked it (I changed my mind about it at the end... Unfortunately). That gives you an idea of what I made... Lol !

Haha, well I haven't really had the time to download them all! You know I loved your ROTJ set (has it changed since the APE links you gave me btw?) I only just downloaded your ANH set and hope to listen to it soon :-)

A bit. Track 12 sounds better for exemple, and so for a couple of tracks. There's one more track at the end (Jabba the Hutt from C. Gerhardt ).

Let me begin with the (small) critisism - there was some background noise on a few tracks. Not very much, but I could hear it in the quieter sections, interrupted by the heavy brass(?) instruments or by violin(?) solos. Another issue is that the player I'm using shows all tracks as "unknown". Once I have home audio I'll test it again, but can anyone please check if there's problems with PC's reading the audio file desriptions (author, track title/number and so on).

This is definately a (very) small issue, though.

... This was stated (in a way) in the very first post of this thread that you may have checked. Anyway I'm glad most people enjoy it as it is. I like to think nothing is impossible to do but... I've done what I could. :)

DarthBo said:

About that, is it possible you somehow forgot to select the entire ANH poster during colourcorrecting? The bottom part of the left poster in "ANHcovers 2cd.jpg" looks a lot more saturated than the rest :-)

The blues are quite difficult to deal with sometimes. Indeed the dark blues may have a bit more saturation. It 's not a matter of selected parts btw: I choosed to desaturate or change the most the hot colours. Note that I didn' t try to recover the original colours... How could I ? I don't have an old pristine print has a guide.

... So, what about your thoughts on the scores ? You' re so silent about it my dear DarthBo! :)

Yep. To notice there was a lot of colour corrections done on the ESB and RotJ posters, and a little on ANH. 'Hope you like the idea of each planet on the CD's :) And I hope it's easy to make them match on everybody's softwares... I' m not an expert about these.

By any chance is 7FN going to do a vinyl transfer of return of the jedi?

Nope. Someone else could but we agreed this 40 min score didn't worth the effort. I wish you would satisfied with the remaster, mostly if you think that it wasn' t - as all the remastered set - meant to be shared at the origin. I shared them because one generous guy named 7FN shared the RSO with me that I was seeking for a remastering work. THAT was what I meant to share at the origin. As his work was finally very fine in that shape, I choosed to share my remastered set with them. ... You still want more ?

A big surprise was teh radio drama music which was unknown (thank you for that)

I liked the new spaces/pauses between the tracks.

I d like though each file has the proper naming and not only the track number instead.

Thanks to GoodMusician for the extra tracks not foundable on the SE's and Anthology !

For the spaces between the tracks it is indeed of great interest to me too, and much more digestible ;)

... And sorry ! My Hi-Fi doesn't display track titles, so I don' t need them ... I don' t know what's an Ipod btw and don' t want to. :) Some say that computers can read a CD ?

Lol !

@ Eyeshotfirst: Thanks for this enthusiastic notation. What you said about ANH is really good to know and to hear from a fan. I won' t say enough I'm not a scholar about SW scores and I was just guided by what sounded essential in these recordings to be improved. :)

And thank you all for making this topic living for a while: it's raining requests these times. I mean thanks for them !

Thanks to Beatho and Ripplin who recalled this topic to the head of the forum these days five new people asked the links today after two weeks of silence.

Hehe... That's why it is worth to give an interesting feedback - and not just "oh it's great !". Indeed it is not to inflate my ego saying "hey my scores are the best ones !", but just I feel this topic will soon be forgotten in the dephts of the Forum and before it happens, I want everyone to be able to catch the thread and to enjoy this set.

Why this topic will be forgotten ? Let me tell you: because there's no future project to be done or updated: it's here, right now, and there's nothing more to be discussed.

... So please everyone, don' t be selfish, let people know: give feedback ! :)

Haaa !!! Beatho, you just made my day !... :)

I was still wondering if I reached the goal I intented - and pretended to - with these remasters. Indeed you're the very first one to let me know about ANH and ESB ! :)

Not that I wasn' t confident in my work, but perception can be very different from a person to another. Anyway you just confirmed you get my way to deal with these scores and that is the essential to me ! ;)

I just think it's kinda shitty to pop into someone elses thread and talk and advertise your own work like that...

Ok !... Touched. I've been a dork.

When I say (for my sets) that it's everyone's set it is because I didn' t add something in it, as you did, and I know I won't follow how it evolutes through the internet. I choosed to share, instead of being the quasi only one to have it.

Please forgive me for the little spear too, and I' m happy to observe I mistaken on you :).

lol... seriously... advertising your sets in my thread :-p that's cute

This "lol" rings like a laugh on the wrong side of the mouth... Sorry, post removed. ... And these are not my sets but everybody's sets. I am nobody here, only 3 letters from the alphabet.

I guess you won't be curious enough to give them a try however... Too proud ? ;)

... Don' t worry, I won' t interfere anymore on your thread and will even soon disappear from the whole Forum. Sorry if I make you feel I walk on your field, though my work has nothing to do with your reconstruction effort wich is certainly unique.

That's true. I have some sort of sensitivity with my ears, especially the left one, where it sort of buzzes when there are certain sounds, and really loud trumpets can do it. Though I can't think of any specific examples of this happening with the soundtracks, it certainly sounds plausible to me.

Well, beware for your left ear then... Both the RSO and the remastered ANH have still strong trumpets, especially for the last battle track(s). I only make the difference between "strong" and 'tooooo strong" ;)

"However, the real surprise is that my remastered version brought sounds that are nearly absent on the RSO, as for archers stroke on cellos on some cues for exemple, and even gratings from the musicians chairs during many silences."

That is really cool. Though it is nice to hear pristine recordings for most types of music, for classical and such, it really makes me feel like there are a ton of people in the room and it is pretty much impossible to keep 100% silent. Can be fun to hear little noises. :)

If one wants to hear music as if he was on stage or at a concert, he won' t be silly enough to think about hidding such "noises", I think. They're all natural. You may find that it gives an unexpected dimension or perhaps even a characteristic tension to the music (listen to "loosing a hand" and "hyperspace" for reference).

This thread reminds me that I got the original 2 LP Star Wars set at Salvation Army a few months ago in perfect shape...for 25 cents! (2001: A Space Odyssey, too)

Of couse it reminds you this, Lol !!!... Little memory you have my friend ! :) (Just check page 19 on GM's thread).
