Star Wars saga - Extra Extended Edition (1080p) (* unfinished project / WIP *)
Time

Sure, here it is:

Some auto color correction was used, and this is already compressed, so quality is not as high you could get.
Still lots of room for manual cleanup as you can see, but I hope it helps.

I’d suggest learning to use VirtualDub to get the best results yourself 😉

I did a whole 12 frames yesterday, though.

Have you tried VirtualDub2 with the Film Dirt Cleaner filter?
http://www.infognition.com/dirtcleaner/

If you set the values reasonably low, there’s little detail loss.
Here’s what I get:

There are a few bad frames on the sequence that will still need manual work.

Can you separate the vocals and the soundtrack in EpII? (region 1)
Time

A completely “clean” center channel is rare. It’s normal for it to have some music, mixed at a lower volume.

What can happen is the opposite, where the L,R and Surround channels are completely free of dialog.
Unfortunately for EP2 you have some very low dialog there…

My advice is to split your audio to two tracks: dialog and music
You can edit each differently, cutting at different points, to make it seamless.
Usually you cute music less of course.

Idea: How to make Episode 3 work as a standalone prequel?
Time

I think some scenes from EP2 are needed to show how Anakin turns…
Perhaps start with Anakin’s Tatooine story from EP2 and use the dreams to show premonitions for the events of EP3.
Perhaps use part of EP2 count Duku to tie in with Palpatine’s kidnap.

EP3 deleted scenes help with the story, but they make the film drag on a bit. So pacing needs to be changed also. Again, I’d try to fit some action from EP2, probably the Obiwan X Jango Fet fight.

STAR WARS: EP VI -RETURN OF THE JEDI "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - ** PRODUCTION HAS NOW RESTARTED **
Time

That would help. Specially some weapons on the village.
That way, the Ewoks distraction makes more sense. They are leading the stormtroopers to their village.

There are a lot of things buried on Jedi that can be used to take the movie to another level.
Just after C3PO finishes telling the story to the Ewoks, there’s a shot of Luke.
He’s using the force to mind-control them, but that moment has been toned down in editing.

For the Ewoks with blasters, it could work if you scaled down the SD footage and inserted it into the HD frames. Some sort of digital matte or compositing would be needed, but it’s doable. There are plenty of forest shots that could be used as a base (cropped, flipped, etc).

Also, inserting some weapons to the Ewok village establishing shots would help…

Star Trek V (Released)
Time

Sorry for the lack of updates (registered again with a new account).

The project was completed, and it’s an interesting version. But the end as a bit weak and rushed. Simply I had cut too much out of the final scene on the Klingon bridge. It felt rushed.

So I started another version, with some of the lighter hearted stuff in and it works a bit better overall.
Most importantly, I used the new CGI effects from deLimited Productions and HIKE Animation (from YouTube). The current versions work very well and give the right vibe to the movie.
Still needs better editing of the rock man sequence.

An ideas Thread: for the... Wing Commander games
Time

Hi all,

New here, just registered because I wish to exchange some ideas about these.
I’m watching the existing fanedits of the game’s footage on Youtube, and the acting is quite good.
But the story needs to be trimmed to the essential. No need to see dozens of mission briefings 😉

I got started editing WC III but I realized that the in-game flight sequences need to replaced by CGI.
Has anyone created any animations or CGI for this purpose?
Taking WC III (or even IV) it’s a relatively “easy” job.
The renders on the existing footage are vary basic. Any new work should match that style.

Any ideas about story? Since we have multiple alternate scenes, there’s plenty to work with.
Feedback is welcome.
