Jonh had something in the works (as requested) when I spoke with him a couple months ago. The little work in progress he was working on looked great. Luckily, Anakin is just standing there still in the scene, so we could use still images for it. I hope Shaw gets the Star Wars justice he deserves!

My argument for it not being canon is… Obi Wan gets both voice and physical spirit mixed up with Ewan and Alec. So why can’t we have the voice of Hayden and the appearance of Sebastian Shaw? 😁

Because we don’t have archival footage of Shaw… maybe you can make it with the reface app or something like that… but I think it’s a lot of effort for very little reward.

Hell yeah! If he can do it and is willing/able to (I know he’s a busy guy) I’d be all over that, for my own personal copy at least!

I personally prefer Hayden, just because we see him inhabit the role for way longer, so I think more audiences will recognize him whereas Shaw might have them scratching their heads.

I’m pretty resigned to agree for the primary release of Hal’s edit, but it would be awesome to have an alternate version of those shots for anyone who wants to cut them into their own personal version of it.

I finally found a solution to this! The epilogue from Star Wars Rebels has three notes that lead into the main SW end credits theme and the first matches the Rey/Force theme music (go to 2:23 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jF0lYWcOn3M)

EDIT: I made the concept really quickly so I added a cross fade between two of the tracks. I also added the lossless Rebels track to the Google drive link in case anyone wants to use it.

I made the concept in like three minutes and I didn’t cross fade the Rey theme with the Rebels music so that’s why it sounded like “a good transition with something discordant over top”. I’ve added a cross fade to the concept track which sounds better now and added the Rebels track to the Google drive link so if any other audiophiles wants to use it to make the fade to credits transition better they can. If you don’t want to use it Hal that’s completely understandable; It was worth a shot though.

I hope that if Hal does find a way to incorporate Shaw that he will have an “alternate” option like he does with his Labyrinth of Evil edit. I have no disrespect for Shaw but as someone who grew up with Hayden as Anakin I would much prefer he be kept. It’s his voice we hear, he works very well in the scene, and obviously had this been in the theatrical cut they would have used Hayden. I understand many fans attachment to Shaw in Return of the Jedi. But honestly he would simply feel unnatural in The Rise of Skywalker.

Could it just be because of how we’re hearing the music as the Falcon is slowly entering hyperspace? Is the timing just all out of whack for my liking?

I VERY much prefer how this transitions into the end credits. It’s really great. I would definitely want more of the Force Theme/Rey mix to start as a lead in a little sooner, but I’m not sure how the fade in would work, or if there’s enough time for it. Are there any shots to stretch to allow that beautiful section of music to breathe?

EDIT: I did an INCREDIBLY rough pass at having the theme start earlier. Again, rough pass by me (my skills are beyond rusty), but I prefer the sort of awkward fade-in to the VERY awkward jump to the end credits in the current version. No offense intended, of course!

Also, +1000 to a Ben ghost. I know he’s coming eventually for this cut, but it was nice to see a version of it. I was honestly shocked and disappointed in the theater when he didn’t pop up.

I made a cut of the ending with quieter music rather than standard SW fanfare, but I get the impression that’s not what you’re asking for.
