Am I the only one who thought the replies sounded a bit sarcastic before actually watching the video? Like, I thought Ady added a ronto walking across the screen or something like that. 😉

But anyways, amazing work! You are truly a VFX god, Ady.

My preferred Skywalker Saga experience:
I II III IV V VI VII VIII IX

You know, something that’s always bugged me about ANH and its Special Edition is that in the final shot of the ships headed back to Yavin after the Death Star’s destruction, the Falcon model enters frame from the left but then moves into the center of the frame without substantially changing orientation. https://youtu.be/tYZuOSZj2wg?t=483

The Falcon model clearly starts turning left as it enters frame, as expected, but then it stops turning and just continues almost straight forward with its nose pointed well to the right of Yavin and its engines firing to the left. It’s a really bizarre movement that I would have thought Lucas would have changed in the SE like he did in so many other weird model shots.

Of course, I imagine it would be difficult for Ady to fix this issue since it would require rigging and filming a whole new model (practically or digitally) to put in that shot.

Agree with this, it doesn’t quite fully make the turn.

Cheers, Paul

It would’ve good to hype it up. Behold the amazing visual effects. You won’t believe your eyes.

and then it’s just like…a pillar.

No, the Ronto is always the answer.

I really hate to be that guy, but the one thing that I question is the color correction made for the binary sunset scene. Shouldn’t it be a bit more towards blue?

You’ve been here long enough, what do you think the answer is going to be?

Ady thinks it looks better.

Without a doubt. Just thought it could use a bit more blue.

Funny enough, when i original graded it, i made it more blue and everyone complained that it should be more red. But it’s a toss up between which version you want to go for. 77 starts with a pinkish sky, then more blue, then the close-up suns its red. 97 cinema release its red sky throughout but the home video its blue . 2011 boosted the blues throughout. 2020 back more to the pink/ red sky. So i just chose to match the sky through the scene

When you put it that way, it does make sense now for why you chose to color correct it like that.

When I look at the scene now it really doesn’t look bad at all. I guess it’s just my own personal preference for it to be a bit more bluer.

Big fan of Skymaster’s version of the sunset. If some people want it blue and others want it red, clearly the best compromise is to make it purple.

The purple doesn’t look right during that scene.

I don’t know if this has been decided yet, but will there be any blu-ray artwork made for this edit?
I remember seeing a really cool one made for ESB:R, but i cant seem to find it.

“Red R2” issue now fixed 😃

https://youtu.be/Vg5hg6SispQ

I guess my eyes are worse than I thought they were. I don’t see a red R2 in the 2011 footage.

The “issue” was Adywan’s original fix for having two R2’s in the scene, which was coloring one of them red (see ANHR and last week’s preview video).
