General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread — Page 229

Speaking of that, I really liked the Star Wars fighting game on the playstation. It was silly, story wise, but really fun. There was two versions of each character and there were lots of unlockable secret characters.
Anybody remember that? Was it anywhere a good as I remember?

Dang, I can’t believe I out-geeked you guys!

(as the link says, they printed some of his hand-written guidelines in the back of a book and there was mention of midicholorians.)

Read the first post. Anything on-topic for more than a few posts belongs in a separate thread.

Sorry, I was originally just going to point out a minor thing I found but it all kind of escalated into a larger discussion. I’ll remember to read the first post, and not just the title from now on.

I keep meaning to ask this and keep forgetting–is it just me, or did the effect on C-3PO’s voice sound a little different in TFA than in the OT and PT? like, a little more tinny or something?

Maybe he had a new vocabulator installed since the OT? 😉

And he also looks plastic (even in EpII and III he was metal looking). Something went wrong with the lighting of his scenes I guess.

(Leia also looks plastic, don’t know why they tried that hard to cover the fact that in 32 years she got older…)

For all my Google-fu, I’ve been unable to find that particular passage in The Making of SW. Page numbers (or better yet, a direct quote) would be helpful. 😃

“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”

It’s because Bill Corbett replaced Trace Beaulieu after the move from Comedy Central to the Sci-Fi Channel.

Seriously? People kill older women for their looks all the time. People here were no exception, by the way.

Random memory: I remember reading in The Beano about celebrities who were members of the Dennis the Menace Fan Club, and it went on to mention Jimmy Krankie and Mark Hamill. While Jimmy Krankie would wear the fan club badge when he/she appeared on Crackerjack and the like, Mark Hamill did not wear the badge in the Star Wars films. The reason given was that he was worried about the pin puncturing his space suit.

I remember being annoyed at this because there is no point in Star Wars where Luke Skywalker wears a space suit.

I figured that matte appearance was due to Daniels’ new costume and was perhaps supposed to show off age or refinishing, etc., but then I saw this clip of him at the Oscars just now, and he’s as shiny as ever.

… and no red arm ! So the movie version for EpVII might be different after all (doesn’t excuse the fake looking though).

Yup.

The red arm was fixed by the end of the film. They didn’t make a big point of it and it was pretty easy to miss actually, but it was in the group shot of people seeing off Rey when she goes to find Luke (I think, it was definately a group shot near the end).

I’ll wait for the bluray release to be sure about that :

But if you’re positive about it, ok I believe you. That’s weird in fact, in term of continuity, making a character being changed off screen. So that way 2 different action figures can be sold ?

Threepio has often been dull coated, because you don’t want the camera and crew reflections on his body in every shot with him. (Not to mention the problem of shooting a shiny droid in the middle of a desert on a sunny day.) They went out of their way to make Threepio look shiny in Episode III, but that required some CGI to remove the reflections.

Though the suit does look pretty bad when dulled like that, the way his voice sounded actually put me off while watching.

I believe the Oscar appearance was done by that guy who made his own Threepio suit. Similar to how they’ll call up the 501st whenever they want Stormtroopers for public appearances.

Interesting. Looking at that picture it looks like there are several places where there is silver showing through, as if he was plated in gold one point and now the finish is wearing off. So guesse the lack of luster was meant to show wear and tear. The degradation of the plating is very clear in this pic, particularly on his thighs, left chest plate, groin, and around his arm sockets.
