The Phantom Menace - Spence Edit
Time

The final shot of Palpatine is removed as well. Less obvious that he is sidious.

Great, you can replace that with an earlier shot of Qui-gon in the pyre. I don't get why no other edit has done it so far, it's a simple but significant edit, essential to those hoping to keep Sidiouse's indenitity a secret.

My suggestion would to remove Sidious completely, dubbing over the Feds so they are more proactive. Instead of Sidious ordering them to destroy the Jedi, it could go like this:

"The ambassadors are Jedi knights, I believe"

"I knew it, they're here to force a settlement!"

"Destroy them immediatly!"

"Are you braindead? The Senate will not tolerate it!"

"The Senate doesn't need to know".

With careful editing and comp you can have them contacting Darth Maul instead of Sidious, asking him to take over when their plan begins to fail.

General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread
Time

Some PP (prequel problem) that never has been adressed: "Many Gungans will be killed" This line always bothered in the sense that Quigy is unconcerned about the Republic pilots and Padme's people in general. In the RLM review, Plinkett stops to make a point about this line and I thought he would be talking about this but instead he makes a joke about Lucas calling them "Gungas" originally.

What HASN’T changed on the 2011 OT SE Blu-ray release – the uncorrected mistakes...
Time

Something that always bothered about ANH, how the music sometimes doesn't match the images, or rather a certain note starts a few seconds earlier than it should. I blame this on the editing rather than Williams, some examples:

The shot of Tantive beneath the Star Destroyer's belly.

Mos Eisley's introduction (the aerial shot of the city from the cliff).

Criterion obtains Godzilla '54!

Yes! Finally this masterpiece deserves the treatment it deserves. If this one's on par with Criterion's Seven Samurai DVD/BD, then it could very well be much better release than Toho's. Oh, and the icing of the cake:

Both versions in consistent quality? Is there a positive equivalent to our beloved "Noooooooooooo"?

Midichlorians versus Life Day: which is worse (with compliments to Puggo Jar Jar's Yoda) + (you can't say this is just another anti-prequel thread because Life Day is OT material...sort of)
Time

Life Day. It's a far worse deal (to me) to know Chewey gets involved in this kind of stuff (and dedicating 2 solid hours of scenes to it!) than knowing people communicate with the Force through meaningless bacterias we never see.
