Will return when the time is right
I love TSW, and not in a gusher/apologist sort of way, it's actually very "Star Warsy", I wish there was a restored cut from it released in Blu-Ray. I know I'd buy that instead of the "real" Star Wars movies.
The latter could be acomplished by miniatures I guess. Would this include ecounters with monsters and stuff?
Of the original trilogy, and of itself later on.
"If you will not turn to the Dark Side, then perhaps she will"
"Neveeeeeer!!!!!!!!!!"
IMO, that's the best bit of music in Star Wars, and no cue from the prequels is as intense. I still enjoy the scores quite a bit, even if they're really derivative.
Boba Fett is dead. There's nothing in the movies that indicates otherwise.
Or when he's hanging from the Senate platform making those "ah eeeehhh" noises.
Now that we're in the subject of uncorrected goofs, it should be noted that the current version of TPM does not fix that instance in which Padmé says "Get to your ships!". Such line is delivered with the "decoy voice".
His point about Han Solo looking like a cold-blooded murdered is valid. Same thing happens with Indiana Jones. Somebody should throw a machete (or poop) at him before he cuts the bridge in Temple of Doom, just to make it clear he didn't have a choice. Additionally, it should be explained somewhere that the alligators hadn't eaten for weeks, and didn't mean to chomp Mola Ram like that.
"I'm a senator!"
"I'm Captain Typho!"
Anakin needs to revert to childhood and proclaim "Yipee!!!", a lot.
What I meant (or I've meant, I'm a bit drunk as of now) by "disregarding the prequels" is that the storyline, "as is" in 1980 gives you a lot of choices as to why Luke doesn't know the whole thing. If we are to go with the info given in ANH, all Luke knows is:
The Clone Wars was serious business, Jedi knights fought.
His father participated, so did Obi-Wan.
Darth Vader is a former Jedi that killed his father.
Notice how "Anakin Skywalker" hasn't been written yet.
Bump.

I can't wait! Godzilla, King of the Monsters finally in great quality? Yes! If only every Godzilla (barring Godzilla Final Wars) movie could get a treatment like this.
I'm always under the assumption that the general public (I mean the people in the Star Wars universe) doesn't know Vader and Anakin are one and the same. That it's a dark secret known to only to Obi-Wan, Yoda and the Emperor. Though in order for this to work, you have to disregard the prequels and EU.
Just got the links, thanks. Now let the Ridiculousness begin!
The original is quite scary, and merges better with Williams' score. So yeah that one. And what's your favorite version of Vader's lightsaber, pink or red?
I think the saber looking orange is an effect caused by seeing it side by side with the pink one. It probably looks better on its own.
At first it seemed like a good idea to replace the pervert looking puppet from TPM, but the results leave much to be desired. The CGI Yoda moves way too fluidly, I especially miss the puppet's head movements when he says "No more, no less".
As for ESB, I think that film is perfect, nothing would improve it.
Is the workprint of this edit available to watch?
I never hated it. Truth to be told, I don't dislike anything from the OT (in it's unaltered form). Yes, Jedi is inferior to its predecesors, but it's still classic Star Wars. Honestly, I couldn't imagine the film being any better without it.
I was thinking of completely removing the term Sith. They're never mentioned in the first trilogy, and it's easy to assume Palpatine is simply a wizard that has trained himself in the ways of the Dark Side. This would prove extremely difficult to do with Episode III, but since this the Radical Ideas thread, well, I see that as radical enough.
Likewise, losing the Chosen One/Prophecy angle might work in benefit of the film, again the Prophecy is never mentioned in the OT. It would even make Vader's sacrifice more powerful.
Last, here's a short clip adressing both issues:
Replace Alec Guiness with Ewan McGregor in Empire and Jedi. Replace Yoda's ghost with an extremely young version of himself. Add the entire Jedi council to Jedi's ending.
We need some cool stuff for the 3D release. Like people throwing lightsabers at the camera for no reason.
One thing that always bugs me about Grindhoused edits of films (and the offical Grindhouse film) is that the audio usually remains crystal clear in opposition with the degraded image, not quite following the "old and hissy" vibe it should have.
Have you considered incorporating stuff from other dinosaur movies, like Carnosaur? Something which does add to the feel of an exploitation film is to repeat footage, and spice things with stock shots of things that have nothing to do with anything ;)
How'd it get burned?! How'd it get burned?!!!
