'Bring Back... Star Wars' (UK TV - Channel Four Documentary) (Released)

As many of you will already know, this coming Sunday Channel 4 Television in the UK will be screening ‘Bring Back… Star Wars’ with Justin Lee Collins attempting to reunite members of the cast of Star Wars. I will be recording the digital terrestrial transmission of the show for eventual release, but is anyone going to be recording the HD version from Channel 4 HD. If so, let me know. I’d like to make it my first HD release.

Cheers!

Thanks for the heads up Babyhum. Saw the trailer for it last night. Looks like JLC's usual good fun programming.

Yeah, should be fun.  I won't hold my breath for Justin to manage a complete 're-union' of the main original cast though....  ;)

I remember hearing that Mark Hamill won't be on this show because they cannot pay his appearance fee.

Supposedly the dude behind the show wrote up on his blog about Mark being a has been actor and greedy.

I also read they want actors to go on the show for free.  LOl good luck in that.

Plus since this is unofficial without Lucas consent i think Mark wants to be remain in Uncle George's good graces by declining to appear unless paid a considerable fee.  Carrie on the other hand they probably won't have a hard time getting.  Harrison won't do it period unless he is piad three times what they would have paid hamill.

They will probably get dave prowse, jeremy bulloch, and peter mayhew, and kenny baker.

Star Wars to me is the trio of Mark, Harrison, and Carrie.  IF they cannot do that then this whole affair is pointless to me.  The only reunion picture i have seen is a fake photoshop job of all the actors shot seperately.

And if they bring any of the prequel actors consider me a million miles away from this crap.  Though i'm sure Hayden would not be hard to get since he'll be lucky to get another acting job in hollywood ever again after Revenge of the Sith and Jumper, and Attack of the Clones.  Natalie won't do it unless the money for it would go to charity probably, and Ewan probably won't want to do it just because he hates the prequels.  Sam Jackson whos Street Cred is absolutely destroyed would have no problem being on it.

There has already been a reunion. Maybe you should check out the AFI George Lucas tribute. they had a reunion of the main characters on that where they recreated the positioning on the throne room scene.

Apparently Mark Hamill wanted over £25,000 (about $50,000) for a brief appearance on the show, which is ridiculous. So far, from the advert, they have shown Carrie fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Warwick Davies, Kenny Baker, Dave prowse, Anthony Daniels & Peter Mayhew. No PT stuff whatsoever :)

Not having Mark and Harrison is stupid they are the real stars of star wars.

As a big Mark Hamill fan i will not watch this show.

I watched some of the afi thing but i could not finish the whole thing absolute Pukas apologist peice of trash.  These are the guys that Lucas would not allow to show the original versions of star wars and empire that are on their list.  They rolled over and played dead and might as well have sucked his you know what. boooo!

That and the Empire of Dreams rewriting of History makes me want to puke and not be a star wars fan.

Thankfully Jambe has produced real documentaries on the making of the films.

Anyway, I don't see how Mark Hamill would want so much for a simple appearance.  It's not like he's doing anything anyway; why not reunite with his fellow castmates? I'm sure they're still on good terms.  Then again, it is kindof an inconvenience to fly across the globe; he lives in Malibu, was it?

Mark Hamill is a has-been as an actor but he seems to still be pretty high-profile as a VA.  He played Ozai in Avatar... ironically Ozai had a "force lightning" power

"Right now the coffees are doing their final work." (Airi, Masked Rider Den-o episode 1)

While I do admit that Hamill is a great VA (Joker), I still think he's asking too much to be on the show.

He didn't have to travel anywhere as C4& JLC fly out to where the cast live

skyjedi2005 -   I wouldn't worry about the fact that we might not see much of Mark and Harrison on this thing.  Usually Justin fails to ever get a 're-union' of any specific show members he goes after!  It's usually just a case of being lucky enough to 'hang out' with the 'more accessable' ones on an individual basis, and reminisce with them on a personal level.  It should still be a warm and possibly irreverent watch.  Enjoy!

I mean seriously what is the budget for this show?  Bargain Basement Dvd and vhs Like the Unauthorized star wars story, and the stars of star wars were able to get Hamill and Ford.

Even the god awful 1978 Star Wars holiday special cost a Million Dollars to make.  I doubt this show costs that, lol.

Don't you realise that those videos were made up from existing interviews? They never got any of the main cast  for any of those productions.

Bring back Star Wars was pretty fun. Even though it was on C4HD it wasn't actually  in HD, which was a shame. God, Anthony Daniels really does think that he is the Star of the Star Wars saga. That guy is such an ass (and i know cuz i met him). All in all a good fun program.

yeh, i'm recording BBSW on C4HD on sunday (have it all set up with sky+). I just wish i knew how to transfer if fom my SKYHD box to my pc in HD. any help?

You need to remove the hard drive and connect it up to your PC, then use a piece of software to extract the transport streams.

But if it's encrypted then you're stuffed.

I'm waiting for a freesat HD DTR to be released at a decent price, but even then only BBC1 and ITV1 will be in HD.

Well, it was inevitable that none of the 'Big Three' would show, although Carrie Fisher was gracious enough to give an interview and film a short skit for the ending, but demanding $50k to talk about your Star Wars experience? Shame on you Mark Hamill!! Seems like there's an awful lot of bitterness behind the fairytale too, judging from the cast's almost chewable hatred toward Anthony Daniels!!

A good effort and some telling little anecdotes, but not as good as Bring Back...The A-Team or Grange Hill....

I wonder if Lucas had any part to play in this...?

The standard Channel 4 is FTV not FTA. You can't get it if the Sky card is removed from the STB (i.e. it is encrypted). I expect the HD channel is the same.

I was more concerned and upset with poor Kenny Baker's story of the treatment that ego maniac Anthony Daniels gave him. Shame.

We love ya Kenny!!

Such delightful things as:

"Go away little man"

"I'm having a converstation" (when there was nobody else there)

Never buying Kenny a drink or bringing him a cup of tea.

He didn't even send Kenny a message when his wife passed away.

Daniels just doesn't seem like a nice person. He even says in BBSW that he doesn't have any sense of humor. I must admit, at the one convention I've ever attended, Daniels OTT 'audience with' had me and my friends (along with many others) walking out within minutes. As Scott says in his afficionado review of BBSW, it's just a shame really.
