whoops... nm.
whoops... nm.
$2000 - $3000
whoa... movierus, are you saying this is the video paramount sends to broadcasters? it looks yummi. please let us know how we can get our dirty hands on it ;D
depending on which file you want to make the framerate change with.
original h264 cap video - use eac3to
transcoded working video - use your nle if it can do it
final transcoded output file to h264 - use eac3to
me :-P
what about the dts-dvd?
dvdmike said:
Zeropc did you get the jerks also?
yes.
i recommend to use eac3to to slowdown the video. i had very good experience with that.
1. tell us what mac os you run, e.g. 10.8.4, and which mkvtoolnix version did you use
2. when using tsmuxer, just drag your source files into, then select all wanted/deselect all unwanted tracks, select outformat (.ts, .m2ts or blu-ray) and then click "mux"
afaik aac is no valid codec for blu-ray. so you may only remux to .ts - somebody else may verify this in case i'm not correct.
no. if the unsynced audio would come from the 25fps -> 24fps, then it would be much much bigger. on a movie like this, it would be minutes.
no, problem might be a whole different thing. you said that you've only placed the audio on it. i guess the sync problem might be just that: no proper sync check. either by waveform or with video.
or
inproper muxing to mkv. mike, please check your mkv file with your project files.
did nobody else notice this? c'mon guys. i wasn't the only one who grabbed it.
dunno mike. what i've noticed is that the mgm logo skips a bit on all three players. maybe that's what's causing the out of sync. unless of course that little skipping is in your source file and the video plays just fine.
i moved the mkv to my windows machine and played it in mpc-hc and the audio goes out of sync there as well. so it's definitely the file.
better take a look at your source files if the audio is in sync there. did you just place the audio (i guess it's the criterion or old mgm dvd audio) on your video or is that the audio from the cap?
grabbed and took a look into it (not a full watch)
the color change looks good. though, the bitrate is rather low for a 3hr movie. but you've said it was more of a test.
the audio however goes out of sync more and more towards the end. looks like 1 second. i tried two different players and both showed this problem.
get the jap bd. it has better overall picture quality.
if you need/want, i have the ld of the movie and could provide the pcm audio. since you're going stereo, this might be an option for you.
ah, okay :)
thanks for the clarification. looking forward to see your release.
dvdmike, looking at the description of the torrent, you didn't use the bd as the video source for the conversion. instead you've used a hdtv cap. why? i mean, was it not possible to use the bd video to remove the teal and contrast "problem"?
just asking to understand the process better :)

The potential here is huge because I could fly through the scanning process once I get the camera settings where I want them and build a stable environment to advance the frames.
the scanner looks better. you see more details of the falcon's instruments. blacks look crashed on the camera pic.
also check the stars near the tie fighters on left. scanner pic is better there too.
overall: scanner is a pain to work with. but the result - judging from the given samples - speak for it.

To compare it to the Limited DVD release is a mistake since that series of DVDs is across the board awful. It was a half hearted poorly managed first foray into DVDs. I wouldn't need one hand to count the films they got right in that series.
in terms of video that might be true on some, more or less. but in the audio department many of these releases excell compared to the later released edition. tlm, mulan contained the original theatrical mixes. both of these movies suffered on the platinum dvd.
the project is currently on hold, because of lack of disk space. too much other stuff going on. andrea, you know the problem ;)
i can post some screenshots later. here is the log of the hd-broadcast

sighs disney once again screwed up a beloved classic with it’s blu-ray release. a heavy use of dnr, not presenting the movie in oar and the ommision of the original mono mix are three points of the let down. but we still can save the movie, then luckily apple had the movie in hd with the original aspect ratio and not “cleaned” to the death. though, it also only has the 5.1 remix. unfourtnatly apple has replaced this version with the new blu-ray master. luckily i still have the old version. so let’s restore the original mix. but i need the help of someone with the masterpiece collection laserdisc, who also can capture the pcm audio. this laserdisc contains the original mono mix.
if someone could send me the pcm, this would be sweet and i could start the syncing to the itunes version - maybe even to the blu-ray, if i decide to get it.
thanks in advance 😃
so the us hd-dvd contains all frames or are they missing for good?
i mean if one would just demux the video from the evo files. could that "restore" these missing frame?

Jonno have both the UK HD-DVD and BD, and he said that the DTS-HD MA matches perfectly; I think the problem could lies in the fact that the US HD-DVD has 12 missing frames in the middle of the movie, while the UK HD-DVD has the same frames than the BD... Jonno was really kind to capture those missing frames, sent to me, and I add them into the right place, so voilà! the DTS-HD MA is perfectly in sync... obviously, I had to change ALL the audio I made before, but this is another story... (^^,)
now that is interesting. universal did a different encode on uk hd-dvd - who would've thoguht. in terms of quality, is the uk equal to the u.s. hd-dvd? what frames were missing?
what i still don't get is why they trash footage into the garbage bin. these movies cost so much money and yet they trash footage that was cut for ratings reasons. this has happen on so many movie and we'll never see the original version of many movies because of this stupidity.
btw, on the dvd there are some deleted scenes, that show more of the lost hell footage. i think they can also be found on youtube.
looking forward to see this whole thing in motion. samples looked pretty good :)
about the dts-hd: did you sync the audio to hd-dvd video? i know for sure that you cannot simply add the bd audio to the hd-dvd video, as the audio will go out of sync.
