I would like to see your first version if I may
As soon as Ezra was on screen for ten seconds, it was the least annoying ten seconds I’ve ever had with him.
Sabine on the other hand is as insufferable as Ezra was in the series
I’ve realized that the biggest issue I have with this show is the lack of reason to fear Thrawn. I know him from the books. Some fans know him a bit from Rebels. But in this show we have been given no information or evidence of his clout beyond his rank. Even from Rebels we know that he has with him one Imperial class Star Destroyer - what difference does that make? I’m sure there were plenty after Endor that had to be dealt with.
I’m loving the prospect of seeing a new region of space in Star Wars, and I want to see Thrawn in live action, but the threat just isn’t something I feel.
I agree, I want to see him in action in the remaining episodes, to see him be this feared, impressive tactician and leader, and not simply be told about it. Unless that is what the “wrap-up film” from Filoni is going to be, and this is just laying the groundwork for that? That will will be underwhelming if it does.
Yeah I do agree that’s an issue. It’s the problem with making Ahsoka a direct sequel to Rebels because if you haven’t seen that show Hera and Sabine are completely new, and while the show does an admirable job of trying to introduce them to new viewers it doesn’t quite work. Also because it’s a sequel to Rebels it doesn’t feel the need to show why Thrawn coming back is such a big deal because it assumes you’ve watched Rebels and therefore know why Thrawn is so intimidating. If you haven’t seen Rebels he’s pretty much the main villain of the later half of that show. I haven’t read his original trilogy, but from what I saw of him in Rebels he was a fantastic villain. He doesn’t get defeated due to anything he does wrong, it’s other characters in the Empire who screw up his well-laid plans.
Thrawn is terribly inconsistent in Disney canon. In the Zahn novels he’s barely even villainous and his primary goal is to protect the chiss. In rebels he’s just another villain of the week.
May is have a link to all your edits please
Also the holograms on this show are more colour than blue. This seems like a big overlooked change
@goob, are you going to be trimming a lot of someone moments and exposition heavy conversations? I’d say a lot should be cut but it also seems difficult to do so
No it wasn’t a thing in the previous animated shows, I think it was just for Jedi Fallen Order since in a game you have to sense places/objects to gain xp and exposition.
Technically retconned so Rey has it as well meaning it debuted with her, to explain her vision as she touched the lightsaber in The Force Awakens.
How many retcons now in Disney Star Wars? It just seems like a pathetic excuse now for lazy writing.
I am finding this show very hard to like. The characters seem to talk too much but not actually say anything except the plainly obvious by telling the audience exactly what is going on. It’s just very very dull, and knowing that it ultimately leads to the first order etc doesn’t make me any more interested only less
Has Ahsoka always had Psychometry (aka ‘force echo’) as a force power or is it a new ability of hers for this show? (in episode 2).
I thought it was something you were born with, and that it was a power that couldn’t be learned or achieved through training. Only a few individuals outside the Kiffar have it?
Disney Star Wars is horribly inconsistent and doesn’t adhere to any rules
Any further updates on this?
There’s a typo in your crawl. It should be trail.
Also could you consider a new title? Heir to the empire only makes one compare it to the Zahn trilogy.
The whole map thing also sounds like the sequel fetch quests again too, find the damn map that tells us what to do next blablsbla
So we’re 3 episodes in and this series is ripe for a Movie edit. It has more of a Star Wars theatrical feel about it than the previous TV shows and feels like a sequel to the OT thanks to the New Republic world building.
Filoni suggested in interviews that the series would have one linear plot with no side quests and that is certainly how it’s playing out. As a result this season may need 2 movies to cover it.
So here are my thoughts on the first 2 episodes.
- This is screaming out for a classical Star Wars crawl using an abridged version of the crawl from the show leading into the opening scene which feels very TPM (I love the opening of TPM!).
- There isn’t a huge amount that can actually be cut because each scene is crucial to the plot. I was hoping to cut the whole Correlia sequence but there is a lot of crucial exposition in Episode 3 that references it. I’ve cut the Lothal celebration ceremony which makes for a far better introduction to Sabine - very much like young Kirk’s intro in ST09.
- Quite a few scenes can be slightly trimmed to help speed up the pacing, remove the odd bit of cringey dialogue and try to make Ahsoka less monotone.
- There are too many transition wipes - I love a good transition wipe but only to represent the passage of time. Some of the scene transitions are far better without them.
My current cut of the first 2 episodes is 81 minutes from 87 minutes of footage, so not much of a trim… yet! I’m not sure about a title yet. A Threat from Beyond is one I’m toying with, but for now I’ll go with “Heir to the Empire”.
Here is the opening sequence. I’m really keen to hear people’s thoughts on the series now and as it progresses. I’ve watched Episode 3 and was less happy with it, there are quite a few cuts I’d like to make. Sadly Ahsoka’s outfit change means I’ll probably have to keep the Clone Wars-style space walk, which I didn’t like.

Glad the sites returned. Can I get some new news to your updated versions? Thx
Haven’t watched the show, but your colours are great.
On a side note since I haven’t watched it, why do they look like NPCs? 😂
Link’s please
Seeing the Dr Pershing’s storyline getting cut is the most heartbreaking to me. I thought that episode was so damn good, very mature star wars in the likes of Andor, showing the everyday people adapting to the current new regime.
And, most importantly, it showed us how Coruscant was working post RotJ, and what exactly was this New Republic deal, something that not even the sequel trilogy had. So IMHO it’s very very important not only to this series but to Star Wars as a whole.
Well considering these scenes are completely irrelevant to the show and it’s only point I’d to tell the audience that the NR is a bumbling organisation that doesn’t know what it’s doing and is about characters that at most are bit players before this, it should absolutely be cut.
This had me intrigued until I saw that you have kept the Coruscant plot that went nowhere and only exists to show that the NR are just as evil as the empire were and also the ridiculous Lizzy and Jack Black subplot.
Have you cut any scenes out or is it just rearranging everything?
Sent! Hope you enjoy.
Minor spoilers from today’s episode below:
The Shadow Council scene is actually perfect for a spot in Book 3. As soon as I saw it I knew that was a missing piece that I needed in my current film. I’ll trim/edit some dialogue accordingly, but showing Gideon’s presence in the larger Imperial Remnant is perfect for continuing to build him up as a fleshed out villain in Season 2. Additionally, starting to tease Thrawn earlier is way better than the initial name drop from Ahsoka out of nowhere. I’m ~40% through updating Book 3 and starting to plug things into my change log now.
Just wondering, Moff Giedon’s appearance is slightly different in the latest episode of The Mandalorian with him no longer having a moutache. I know it is minor, but are you going to be able to do some digital trickery to account for his change from season one and two to season three if you plan to insert it into Book 3?
I shave and grow my beard often, so it’s quite simple to assume that Gideon decided to go clean shaven off screen.
Here’s the next step for you Eddie, doing a fanedit with Hayden’s voice as Anakin!
Honestly, I’d prefer Matt Lanter’s voice for live action Anakin. Hayden is a great visual actor, but his voice is… not the greatest.
I beg to differ. TCW Anakin is too much like Han Solo imo.
Here’s the next step for you Eddie, doing a fanedit with Hayden’s voice as Anakin!
What some see as “barely anything” happening, others may see as Bo and Din going through mythological character journeys along their way to reuniting and restoring Mandalore both literally and spiritually, and rediscovering what that means… (it is a bit slow though, but, well, it’s also not like they have to resolve a dozen threads by the end anyway)
Take 5 minutes from every episode and we may get a 45 minute edit that does that.
Link please.
As an idea, maybe you could end the series with mando giving the baby to Luke and that’s it, that is if the next two episodes are as bad as this one was
This show has become a parody of itself. It seems they takes requests from celebrities to see who wants to cameo next. It’s closer in tone now to Saturday night live than Star Wars now. And yes. The fish head romance was like a bad high school play.
Unfortunately your hopes will likely be dashed as this season is goi g nowhere fast. Aside from the ending there was absolutely no plot development at all, and even the ending itself was absurd. 🤦♂️
More fanedits for non English speakers is a good thing
Well this season was a disappointment. The bad batch are boring and largely aimless as they work for a snake and have an annoying kid tagging along.
I would see if you could cut as much as snake lady as possible as well as a lot of dialogue between wrecker and omega. There’s just no real character development at all.
Perhaps the show could be refocused on growing pains as the republic gradually turns imperial? I would also cut out most of the cameos since they’re ultimately fan service and make the galaxy seem smaller since everyone knows each other. Is it fan service if the fans think it’s silly though? 🤔
The whole tidal wave planet should also be reduced. We all know it would never work out and it was filler anyway.
If this fanedit is to be darker, then a lot of the above needs to be cut.
