Andor: The 7 Episode Cut (Released)

Maybe it will, but it really seems like the whole plot line there was dropped and he’s not mentioned his sister in any way whatsoever.
But if it does then I still don’t think it’s necessary, especially if there’s no more flashbacks.
Do you think there’s a better place to put it if you want to keep it? I just don’t think it works well as an opening scene since it feels unimportant.
As to a date, I’m not sure.

3gb or less please 😄
Having seen your first episode, I think if you add an opening like Rogue One has would be great, especially since I think you can cut out the flashbacks entirely and just put it in text. It is just much better that the opening scene takes place in the rain as it does originally. But if you choose to keep it as is, add a planet card at the start or a pan down to keep it consistant, especially as the following scene says 4BY.

Thanks, VulgarisMagistralis! I really appreciate this. Have you seen the original show?

You’ve picked out a few of my more radical ideas for this season, so I’m interested to hear others’ thoughts on whether you agree with Vulgaris that I’ve gone too far here. My intention with all of these more broadly was to remove some of that early ‘anthology’ feel and try to have season one feel a bit more cohesive - perhaps I have failed in that and this all feels too fan-edity?

Specific comments:

  • On 5, I think this is a necessary evil. The original arc had a very odd structure, where in the first episode the team fail then succeed, becoming “the best team ever”. But then they’re placed on the Rishi moon, which is clearly a lesser posting, but through a few team sacrifices they become Arc Troopers. And then finally they help at Kamino and rejoin the 501st. My intention was to smooth this out - having them fail their training and have the lesser posting at Rishi be a punishment. But THEN, through perserverance and sacrifice, and the success at Kamino, they become Arc Troopers of the 501st in response to all of that. To me, that feels like a smoother three-act structure for them, but I’m interested to know how others feel about how well that lands.

More voices would be appreciated here, if this content is jarring (for the hypothetical first-time viewer) I’ll have to revisit the work.

Having just seen the episode, I think it works fine, until the third act when it suddenly has a time jump to Kamino. I think if you could make a card to show the lapse of time or a montage, then it would work better.
Also I think you should show the part where fives gets his distinguishing handprint on his amour as it’s important important character development for him, especially as he plays an important role in later episodes.

So far this edit works very well. I have one suggestion though, how about implementing credits like Eddie does with his TCW restructured series, seeing the Ralph Mcquiarie paintings at the end of each episode would be nice.
Also the original episode titles are at the end of the episodes where you’ve changed to a new title, so I think they should be taken out.

I do really like this idea yoshif8tures! I’ll do some further thinking on this. I might implement this after I’ve completed my V2 edit for season 2. My Main focus is on the core experience of the show after that I might add more polishing ideas such as this! 😄

Sounds great! I was really impressed with Eddie and how he changed the feel of the series by changing the opening and closing titles, it also really firmly stamps your own name onto it as well. May I suggest a version of the rebellion theme? I am sure there are good versions on youtube. I believe theres an art book for the show too, or you could do the same with eddie and convert certain scenes from the show into an art piece that works well too

I just finished with book 5, and I must say you did an excellent job combining both mandalorians, I especially liked how you tighten up the final battle and removed the child.
One thing I think needs some work, especially if you want him closer to the legends version, is to trim some of his dialog forcing the child to choose.
Luke would never close the door on a student nor forbid attachment, especially since it was his own attachment to his father that redeemed him.
Otherwise it’s great work.

I’ve just updated both of the edits…

The Escape: Episodes 1-4 - 2h (42 minutes trimmed overall)
The Heist: Episodes 5-7 - 1h55m (27 minutes trimmed overall)

I was originally going to do this show by arcs, but after watching through these, I feel this flows much better than my original 2 cuts.

But just like every change I’ve made to the episodes so far, these may drastically change by the end. I’m honestly really enjoying the constant challenge each week!

Would love to hear some feedback on these!

Can I get a link please?

I just want to say that I’ve been very impressed so far with what you’ve done with this series.
One thing that strikes me as odd though is that at the end of book 2, he goes back to the sarlaac to try to find his armour and ends up on obliterating it.
Not only does this seem silly but over the top, not to mention he should recall he had the armour when he came out?
Anyway, I’m enjoying it a lot so far and it’s excellent.
