The AtSt clip is good, a bit too cgi looking but a great idea. As mentioned, the At St's dissapear after they are shown, seeing them wiped out would be awesome! I love the Hoth battle, but wish it were longer, or showing more of an invasion.

The battle is the gritties throughout the whole saga, and baffles me how Big G and his FX team came up with cartoony battles in the prequels. Surely they must have rewatched Empire as research before making the prequels. Continuity is more than just storyline and character, it should be visual too. I still swear that the battle of HOTH was real, and was merely documented.

Ady, any thoughts as to having a faint shield effect evaporate as the AtAt falls before the speeder fires? And in the trailer as someone else pointed out, there were lots more AtAts coming over the horizon, is it true that this is no longer happening?

Will you be adding a bigger or different Laser effect from the radar dish cannon? And the "maximum " firepower shot at the shield generator of the rebel base. I see they charged the cannons but not much difference visually.

Question, wondering the score on why the addition of troops here? I like it, just missed the topic?

 

So, it led me down a line of thought, especially as someone mentioned about the neck being exposed/unshielded.

 

So I had an idea for a suggestion... After the AT-AT falls, but before the Snowspeeders blow it up.. How about a brief "De-shielding effect" on it. Kinda like when predator de-cloaks from invisible. But briefer and more subtle, but enough to show that its shield was more than just tough metal. (Not talking Droideka here mind!)

It kinda bothered me how its fall made it weak with no visual explanation. (As did Vader in ROTJ when he threw the Emperor down the wishing well, not enough Damage time to Vaders suit/controls before he dies)

When Vader throws his saber at the gangwalk displacing Luke in the final fight, maybe have Vaders saber return back to his hand after the throw? That would look cool, as opposed to just unnarming himself.

In Jedi, when R2 pushes 3PO off the sail barge, how about briefly have R2s thrusters, pop out, explode or spark and then have him fall into the sand as he normally lands. This would showthat he has them but theyre faulty. As opposed to just having him take a dive.

Could be a great little bridge to the PT. Personally i was never a fan of him flying, except maybe in space. But a subtle nod to it could explain why he never flies again.

     When Luke picks up the rock in the rancor pit and throws it at the switch on the wall, I figured, with a bit of re editing and maybe a new added close up of a gloved hand, Luke could FORCE THROW the rock, making him more Jedi like.

 

Im about to attempt a few experiments to see how some of these shots may work out. I'll try and up them on here when im done.

i saw a clip pointed out on youtube of some srebel-ships blow up as they hit the deathstars shields. Not bad, but explosions were a bit puny, maybe add some ripples to the surroundind shield?

 

12, I read talk about Lando getting killed as he exits the deathstar? Not sure i like that, but still, one method could be to recut the interior cockpit shot where he yells "YEEHAAA" dub his yell with a scream (willhelm?) but also brighten up the shot with yellow to make it look hot. Then have a burning falcon eject then explode on exit. (maybe good as a bonus on disk)?

When vader has thrown palpatine down the shaft It always bothered me that Vader doesnt seem to be too damaged to warrant death. Maybe add a few more sparks to his life support buttons and more electricity as he lies there just to emphasise that his suit is malfunctioning?

just for giggles, when Luke removes Vaders mask, have Luke wince and gasp as if he just took the lid off a tub of egg sandwitches.

Ady worked wonders but are there any other ideas that could be worked on by other editors to add even more to what he already accomplished.

Here's a couple of crude mockups to get the ball rolling.

1st, That Jabba Scene...surplus to requirement at the moment but by adding different subtitles and re-colouring it to match his look in ROTJ it could add more than just say again what the Greedo scene did so well (especially if someone could work out what to do with his tail without Han stepping on it).

Holgraphic communications appear in every Star Wars film but in ANH all we get is Leia's message.

It would make sense that Tarkin would want to get news about Dantooine ASAP so why not have the message delivered over the holonet?

That big ball on the conference table must serve some function (not unless it's for Imperial Fondue parties).

I agree, I would love to see Adys new hope but with the jabba scene put back in, i liked the dvd version, I also like the idea of a hologram ball.

Wasnt too keen on Ponda Babas new severed flipper.

I liked how the deathstars lasers were about to fire as it explodes, but, the explosion is still a dissapointment even though its improved. I think an all new explosion could be made, the asteroid explodion at the end of Armaggedon is awesome, maybe copy n paste deathstar over that, recolour earth red so it looks like the red planet over yavin, flip the image upside down so the explosion happensin the opposite direction to armaggedon so its not too familiar.

Then release a 720p mkv of it. Thats my wish list here anyways, but Adywans edit is still superb!!!!

Hey, thanks for the vote of confidence. I probably wasnt too clear with what i had in mind, when i said a landing sequence, what i meant was a short fly-by clip with the gunship doors opening, not the ship landing on the snow.

Only thing is, I will only bother to make the ship if Adywan is interested, however, it would make an interesting bonus feature on the disc, i would sure be up for creating the shot if either in the film or as a bonus shot. Be a lot of effort just to put on youtube.

p.s. If you ever get round to ROTJ, always hated how Lukes lightsaber never cuts through people on the sailbarge, and the tortured droids feet never make contact with the hot irons. Just a thought.

Hi Adywan, been following your progress for a few years now, and been checking in on the forum, but i lost my password etc long ago under the username vader1138. Anyways, just rejoined as i have an offer/question etc for you.

I'm an artist/sculptor and LOVE your ANH-revisited. (would love to know if you ever plan to release a 720p mkv of that by the way)

Anyways, theres a shot that i would have liked to have seen in Empire, after at at captain says "Lord Vader, you may start your landing" we never see Vaders ship land on Hoth. Now, in the prequels, which have their flaws, i love the hardware in them, especially the gunships. So, i was considering scratch building an Imperial gunship of my own design. If you would be interested in including a shot of it lanfing on Hoth, wit vader anf a few troops standing in its doorway, i could film it against a bluescreen and send you the footage to play around with.

I would be making it in scale for the 5inch action figures, and animate it stop motion as a very quick shot.

Reason i was wanting to see a new ship in the battle is we would have normally seen vader shuttle, which is done to death, and seeing a new ship coulda been cool. Anyways, havnt built it yet, so let me know what you think?

On another topic, heard you on you-tube radio station thing, great to hear your a fellow Brummy. I'm originally from Walsall but not anymore. Great to hear you used cut-outs for tie-fighters in aftereffects too. LOVED that scene. I made film (crappy film) using similar tachniques as that. Its on you-tube also,

search... ESCAPE FROM KIRKUK, on youtube, rubbish i know but i was experimenting with animation etc. I know how gruelling the editing process is as it took me over 2 years to complete. Anyhow, good luck with Empire-R i cant wait.
