I can’t help but feel like adding the bunk is a change for the sake of change. Like the Jedi Rocks number. There’s nothing wrong with assuming that there were a few changes made to the Falcon in the 31 years between Episodes V and VII.

It’s a visual easter egg, nothing more. you see it in one shot. It’s absolutely NOTHING like jedi rocks at all.

I love the new bunk addition personally, it makes sense to me that abroad a spaceship like the Falcon used for long haul flight, there would be some sleeping/resting bunks. Also according to my Millennium Falcon Haynes manual blueprints book, theres a toilet on board too.

Ady, wondering if you ever attempted or toyed with the idea of trying to manipulate Lukes face pre Wampa Attack? ie taking elements of ANH Luke face and compositing over ESB Luke to hide Mark Hamill’s scars. tricky id imagine, maybe too tricky? But you did a bang on job with Palpatines hologram. (edit… I know suggestions are closed, just wondering if you had a pop at it in the past.)

In light of new developments it might be fun to have one of the AT-ATs very briefly switch a red light on. Inside and outside the cockpit. That way it’s shown to be possible but not default and something done under certain conditions which doesn’t need to be figured out as opposed to having the red light on for one shot with no apparent reason to it.
Maybe it’s like a red alert in Star Trek and Needa is more ballsy than they were before the Death Star blew up 😄

I like this idea! that red AT AT light strip always confused me as it only seemed to appear sometimes, i mostly only noticed it in still images/posters etc…

Also, i read today Hot toys/sideshow are releasing an 18 foot long Millenium Falcon!!! action man scale!! has figures too, imagine what you could do with that and your camera! Bet its the price of a house, but if you could somehow view it? or know a man who can?

Excellent! When i first got into molding in silicone years ago, and learning, that sulphur warning was all over the net so i still go by that. Maybe plasticine has changed its recipe lately to compete with all the sulphur free brands? Not sure, I know in America a product called Kleen Klay sounded like our equuivellent of plasticine but was labelled as sulphur free. The list of awesome looking rubbers and Resins they have in the US I'd love to get my hands on! Can't seem to find them in the UK, and shipping is pricey!

Anyway, good job with the tests Ady, better safe than sorry. Can't wait to see the results. :)

Adywan, just on the offchance you may not have molded plasticine with Silicone rubber before, use plenty of layers of protective clearcoat first as plasticine contains sulphur and stops silicone curing making a right ol mess! I usually sculpt from Chavant or brown terracotta wax which is very soft and meltable. no release agent needed for these.  I buy mine from http://www.tiranti.co.uk/

You most likely already know all this, but that 1% chance you didn't coulda been expensive mistake.

Thanks for the info. I actually didn't realise that plasticine was still made with sulphur. Damn. I'm pretty sure that the silicon i have is tin cure and not platinum so i should be ok ( fingers crossed). But i'll do some tests first anyway

Hey Ady, I'm not sure if plasticine has recently changed its recipe as I still go by the minefield of online info from about 7 years ago and have only tried silicones a few times. (latex hates plasticine too by the way.)

Have a skim through this info i found... http://www.mysculpturesgallery.com/sulphur-silicon-and-plasticine-37342.html

Regarding the spider shot, for those distracted by it, may i suggest as an alternative to what i mentioned about moving fog around etc.. maybe a slow zoom in.tracking shot towards the ships direction? (if the original source image is clear enough)

regarding the engine talk, i noticed this.. see image mock up..

engine alignement test

As its still being discussed, i wonder if my post may have been missed regarding the perspective/ vanishing points. I personally believe the shot filmed was correct in the beginning with no engine removed to film R2. Maybe a wide angle lens was used? if you follow the green line on the right, look at the panel line behind R2 on the deck of the ship. it follows the green line, as do the windows follow the lines on the right. the red hoops are where i'd assume the engine fronts would have been on the ship. actually, i should have but the right hoop a tad lower, as the shot of the xwing is not dead on side view or we wouldn't see the top of the deck at all.  Though, i do think Adys addition of the engine looks aesthetically pleasing.  Thats my 2 cents.

Woweee! Incredible job Ady! And never noticed Vader helmet like that before, great fix!

LOVE the Nobby spider scene, set, and atmosphere, also i'm in the camp that things its length is fine as it establishes the scene.

I do have an idea however, and i'm saying this not to nitpick but as a possible issue, but if you could move some of the mist around, so that it slightly covers the spider area, but have it less busy where the X-Wing lies it may draw the focus back to the ship, framing it better so its less busy and makes the spider less focus and more of a background critter. Or not, as i love it as is too, great job Ady! As Chris Eubank would say.. May the 4th be with you! ;-)

Hey Adywan, I was wondering (and forgive me if this has been mentioned before) But i was today reminded of Bossks welly legs. Wondered if you ever made them slimmer or his trouser bottoms wider? That shot always bugged me as it just looks like he has boots on. (Why Lucasfilm never released Bossk boots to purchase I'll never know,)

Also, regarding the new Battlefront trailer. Is there any shots from the trailer that could be addedto the Hoth battle in ESB with a few tweaks? The graphics are amazingly realistic, maybe a few brief slim pickings to play with?  Though mainly for ROTJ edit. ?

Interesting reading on here about Vader. I used to think as a kid that Tarkin was the boss of just the Death star and i saw him and Vader as rivals till Tarkins death, then Vader took over the second DS.

anyways, .. i came to this particular thread with an idea/suggestion for the ROTJ edit. Basically, I love B-Wings but felt they never got the screen glory they deserved (apparently due to their long shape design not being photogenic enough, according to an interview i saw years ago.)

Anyway Ady, any plans to add in any more B-wing action to the film?

Also, i had an idea, there was some Mon calamari pilot footage that was in the blu ray deleted scenes. How about replacing the existing footage of the human B-wing pilot with a Mon Cal instead? So it adds a bit of species variety to the battle and also shows one as a fighter rather than all the calamari officers and Ackbar on a bridge.  Not sure why they deleted that Mon cal pilot from the film after going through the trouble of making the mask. cool helmet too.

Could this be more than just a beautiful Photoshopped mock-up?! I want to believe!

It's a screengrab taken from the finished video

You did it!!!! Mr Nobby Spider!! I kept my gob shut about it! This still is fantastic, and beats what i had planned to do in my stop motion test. Love it! You just made my Xmas Ady! Been wanting to see that on film since i saw the Mcquarrie painting years ago. Boom! mind blown!

Have a safe, Merry, drunken xmas ! :-)

(side note.

in ASDA i saw they had a HUGE X-Wing toy, about 60inches front to back. decent detail, and was at £30 down from £50. but, it needs a lick of paint and the windows need replacing. it looks scale wise compatible for action figures. I was gonna buy it and tart it up to look more authentic, maybe to resell or keep. Anyway, thought i'd mention it, because if you had one, it has the potential to be a future prop for ROTJR or something?  )

Sooooo, quiet around here lately!

Ady, glad to hear your cooking up a making of documentary of some sort for the bonus features. I really think if you could go to town on that, it would be as popular as revisited itself is. Maybe even get a kickstarter thing going, like that Nicholas Cage superman documentary thats in the works. Maybe a documentary about what your doing could generate cash to fund ROTJ-R?

Anyway, just making smalltalk as its been silent here for about a week.

Sounds fair enough to me chief! Looking forward to seeing your new shots/models. And thanks for your reply Ady.

I do have one final question re the film, the other day I saw a cool trailer for Harmy's ANH fan-edit, the despecialized film, impressive!! Not seen it before. What I found extra cool was the trailer itself, he had put up FX and compositing wipes that explained how he and his helpers composited the shots/restored etc..

Wondering if one day you plan on making a similar trailer/making of? Your film i know will be fantastic beyond belief, but a making of documentary, well, I think that would be insane! with all your models and extra scenes etc.. (not sure if this is already happening, but it would be a giant on the internet.  Peace out!

edit.. found the trailer/featurette I was talking about, but I'm sure you have seen it..

Hey Ady, speaking of that canyon chase clip. What are your thoughts on adding an extra few lasers from the Ties as the angle changes.  I mentioned it a while back but it got lost in space & time.

The shot i mean is, we have the ties about to enter the canyon, firig at the falcon (behind shot) But then as soon as it switches angle to your new canyon as the falcon enters, they stopped firing. (this was in the original too) I always found it a bit jarring.

Any chance you would be adding a shot or two? maybe even ricocheting off the falcons hull, loosening a boulder from canyon wall, which could be what causes the two ties to crash? Would be a simple addition i reckon.

Also, on page 1223 of this thread (before it got derailed again) some folks had interesting ideas/mock ups about the large asteroid not being big enough when first spotted. ;-)

Sooooo, that was an awkward 3 or 4 pages of bickering to read through! I'm sure Ady will have a whale of a time reading all that. This bickering is pointless! And would possibly be better in Private messages? 1222 pages dedicated to this fantastic project, wonder how many of them are of things like this? Maybe this site could use a fan-edit?

Can't everyone just get along, and see this project for what it is?... Awesome! And free! Enjoy the ride folks!  Its not like Ady is not showing us the bits he's been working on the whole time, he gives us updates, comparisons, trailers and even lets us chip in with ideas/input, which to me, i enjoy seeing what others have done/mocked up/ suggested. This ride is fun! So pretty please with sugar on top, no more "Are we there yet?"

Sorry i had to give off that little rant, but others come to check out these boards, not all log in to comment but visit frequently observing, like myself, its not much fun reading some war of words, especially when valuable topics then get pushed back several pages and forgotten about.

Anywayz, keep up the great work Ady! And that goes for the other people adding creative suggestions/solutions to this project. Peace out!

Yeah, I agree Ronster.

When I made the mock up, the eye was actually green or yellow, i forget now. I made it red to make it a bit more Alien. However, I did it on my darker tv not monitor,  so it looks more brown on there. Now looking at my monitor its too gaudy. Was just a quick knock-up job though to experiment with different animal parts. Almost gave it a beak but kept it simpler. Infact, i almost used parts of a Skeksis face from Dark Crystal. May experiment with that too just for fun. :-)

Nice work Adywan, Before i saw this image i concocted my own experiment, a rough idea by blending 3 creatures... Rooster, Vulture and another Lizards ete re-coloured.

I can't remember if the original clip the lizard turns its head which would be tricky to composite these elements, possible though, maybe have to skew the elemennts to match the turn of the head? Anyway, just an idea, to make it more alien.

.....

lizard manipulation.

Anyone else ever wondered why Vader saves Chewies life?

As Han is getting frozen, Chewie kicks off, Boba is about to blast him, Vader pushes Bobas gun away.  Considering Chewie is of no use to Vader, and Vaders fondness of choking even his own buddies, I always wondered why he spares the wookiee. Maybe under that dark exterior he's an animal lover.

Love this edit Ady! Model works spot on with the rest of the chase.

Only one question, are you planning on adding a few laser blasts as the Ties enter the canyon? They suddenly stop firing when theres a camera change. Think this may be in the original too? Bit jarring.

Maybe adding 2 or 3 blaster shots after the camera cut to your model will also blend the two scenes. Could maybe have one shot hit the falcon so they don't look so inept like storm troopers.

(Actually, before you rebuilt and filmed the canyon, did you not do this before in your edit? Or am i getting a de jar jar vue?)

Still, great work man!

Seriously, this sudden stop in firing/continuity bothered no one?
