Well, I'll be sure to do my part.
Well, I'll be sure to do my part.
Still, let's not do anything to get in the way of this thread hitting 400 pages by the time 2.5 comes out and we all move on to destroy the ESB 2.0 thread.
Now I have to use Twitter??? Lazy noobs are making following this topic worse all the time...

You want to be personally notified?
yes please :)
Sure thing! Here's how to receive your personal notification in less than 5 seconds:
About once per week, visit this link:
http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Harmys-STAR-WARS-Despecialized-Edition-HD-REMASTERED-v21-AVCHD-is-now-out/topic/12713/
If the text at the beginning of the post that currently reads:
STAR WARS DESPECIALIZED EDITION REMASTERED v2.1 AVCHD is now out!!!
has changed to say something like:
STAR WARS DESPECIALIZED EDITION REMASTERED v2.5 AVCHD is now out!!!
then you have successfully received your notification of the release of Star Wars: DE v2.5 and can proceed to obtain it using the methods outlined in the same first post of this thread.
Thanks for your interest in the project! Like you, we're all looking forward to the release of v2.5 and additional future updates!
But, in all fairness, wouldn't that address change when the version updates? I mean, "v21" is in the path and everything... Guess we have no choice but to give the poor chap a very personal PM to let his grace know when it is safe to come down off his mountain to obtain the fruits of his efforts.
I think we've mostly stopped mocking johnlock2342, so it must be working.
I'm not sure if there will be an AVCHD version of 2.5, so it is nice to have the 2.1 as it is easy (and cheap) to burn, share and watch straight off of a stand-alone Blu-ray player. By the way, if you're just going to stream it, the .MKV of 2.5, being one complete file, might work better for your purpose.
Yeah, 2.5 that's being discussed here is for Episode 4, he plans to revisit the rest of the Trilogy in order, bringing them all up to version 2.x (meaning Blu-ray sourced, as opposed to the HDTV source of version 1). If you can't wait, 2.1, which is already available, has basically all the improvements that'll be available from 2.5 (just lower bitrate, but burnable to a DVD-9).
Heh, at about 1:32:08, I never noticed the TIE Fighter pilot actor's eye being visible before...
FLAC offered along with the MKV would work pretty well, though. (Note, I'm not saying it should be in the MKV, but an option for us to mux in.)
And after all of that, by randomly thinking quickly about the hilarity that is Lobsterman from the SE color timing, I suddenly remembered where I saw that Luke/R2 scene's coloring talked about. http://savestarwars.com/specialeditionfail.html
That's what I thought I saw a bit of sneaking through. But again, it is probably a non-issue, I just couldn't believe it all came back to me so suddenly.
That part looks a little more green/awkward on my projector than it does on this laptop, but that goes to show it might just be the setup (or the sheer size of the questionable area on it, lol). Anyway, thanks for entertaining my concern; I look forward to seeing 2.5 in all its glory, and going on to righting Empire and Jedi!
Okay, looking back at the 2.1 I feel a bit like an ass now for bothering you so much about it... If there is an issue (which I can't see as well now as I thought I could before) it would be at 22:12 through to just before he actually pops off R2's restraining bolt. I think what I was seeing was a slightly different exposure on that doorway area, it looked a bit greener than the scenes around it, it probably isn't really a problem.
When I get home, I can look up the times which what I'm seeing occurs, so we can be sure we're on the same page. It is not a showstopper, but it is weird that it got fixed in one part of a scene but not another.
Interesting, I do wonder why you fixed it for when he walked through that doorway, though. Did the IB print lessen in greeness as the scene progressed?
(Also, one reason I am picking on that scene in particular is that somewhere I swear I saw you refer to fixing that color timing on purpose for when he walked through the doorway. I wouldn't have likely noticed the shift away from green if you hadn't pointed it out.)
Actually, wumpusroom is starting to nitpick, I'm just reiterating an unaddressed prior complaint. Slight difference there, hehe.
Whatever you've made will still be closer to perfect than anything we should honestly be able to hope for without you (and certainly less green than the Blu-rays).
I'll add to that list of 2.1 nitpicks, I still think the color timing of the background seems too green when Luke is cleaning R2, which you did think was necessary to address later when Luke walked out of the room. It isn't very consistent, IMHO.
First off, I'm very intrigued by the possibilities of Hairy_Hen's new process, so I'm completely in support of waiting for his results. When it comes to DTS-HD MA or Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD MA almost seems to be the go to standard by most studios, I'm actually rather surprised whenever I see a disc that goes with Dolby TrueHD. So, whether it has the best support or not (and many of the dirt cheap Blu-ray players only seem to do stereo decoding for DTS-HD MA), DTS-HD MA may be the more 'professional' route to go with.
We don't know what these "torrent" things you speak of are, we don't have or supply such things around here... But I will say, someone with a user name of MixedUpZombie, must be an MST3K fan...
Well, Harmy, you could go another route than putting your name on a shirt, how about a shirt that says this:
LUCAS
SUCKS
Also, I've never been a fan of shirts with prints on the back. Just my two cents.
Well, definitely don't mention the forum with anything involved with selling the shirt, much less on the shirt itself, if you move forward with it.
That's a bit better looking, I think, and as has been learned from the Veronica Mars Kickstarter shirts, printing on the arms practically doubles the cost.
Realistically, though, I'm not sure where this idea falls in the legal spectrum.
Maybe a Harmy Film is a lens filter or extra movie film layer that covers up special edition changes...
Perhaps FILMS rather than FILM, so we don't sound like we're covered in a hard to scrub off layer of Harmy...
Harmy, I have a question about the color timing in background of the scenes where Luke is removing R2's restraining bolt, the T-16 and outside hallway seem a bit more green than in the scenes following it. I know that coloring of that part of the image was something you had to address when Luke walked through it, just wondering if this was more of that same problem, or something left in because it was supposed to look like that at that point.
