In an ideal world, George Lucas would have kept directing and writing films, keeping his craft sharp.

Yeah… that didn’t really work out.

I suspect something else: without him, there will be no more great Star Wars films.

There’s been two since he stepped down.

Which ones?

The two that have been made so far.

I don’t know if I’d go so far as to call them great, but not sure why you feel the need to ask that question.

There’s been three good movies.

So that means you liked Rogue One I guess?

I did. I don’t get all the hate around it.

One isn’t a sequel trilogy movie.

Oh, yes. That’s correct.

Poe also understands BB8.

Luke needed an x-wing translator at first (and always? or did he not need it in ROTJ? I can’t remember)

Pretty sure he used it in ROTJ. I think we see it on screen.

Of course Rey worked in an outpost/spaceport thingy so you can assume she’s been exposed to all sorts of different languages, which I guess is why it doesn’t really bother me anyway.

I was about to say this before you said it yourself. It’s a non-issue.

Episode VIII : The Last Jedi - Discussion * NON SPOILER * THREAD
Time

I really hope TLJ is more like TESB than ANH. Sure, ANH is a great movie, one of the greatest of all time, but it lacks the greater depth of Empire. Empire carries the weight of the trilogy. From the vague non-spoileriffic impressions I’m hearing, what I hope may be right.

I also didn’t find the score to be particularly exciting.

What??

(link to TLJ score; minor spoiler? in track title.)

I remember exactly when this happened in the film and it got me fired up.

I haven’t even seen the movie, yet when I heard this part of the soundtrack, I did feel the same as you.

Fascinating.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/09/us/politics/donald-trump-president.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=first-column-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news

Watching cable, he shares thoughts with anyone in the room, even the household staff he summons via a button for lunch or one of the dozen Diet Cokes he consumes each day.

But he is leery of being seen as tube-glued — a perception that reinforces the criticism that he is not taking the job seriously. On his recent trip to Asia, the president was told of a list of 51 fact-checking questions for this article, including one about his prodigious television watching habits. Instead of responding through an aide, he delivered a broadside on his viewing habits to befuddled reporters from other outlets on Air Force One heading to Vietnam.

“I do not watch much television,” he insisted. “I know they like to say — people that don’t know me — they like to say I watch television. People with fake sources — you know, fake reporters, fake sources. But I don’t get to watch much television, primarily because of documents. I’m reading documents a lot.”

Later, he groused about being forced to watch CNN in the Philippines because nothing else was available.

A little late on this one, but here was Trump’s reaction to this story.

Another false story, this time in the Failing @nytimes, that I watch 4-8 hours of television a day - Wrong! Also, I seldom, if ever, watch CNN or MSNBC, both of which I consider Fake News. I never watch Don Lemon, who I once called the “dumbest man on television!” Bad Reporting.
