You want to expose your trailer to the greatest number of people and that's before the film starts. Afterwards, you're lucky if 5% of the theater is still there.

Actually, they did that with the Episode I trailer when it ran with Meet Joe Black. They ran it at the beginning, and then again at the end. That movie was three hours of my life I can't get back.

Saw that movie and yes it was bad but there's another movie that even tops that. 2 hours of my life I'd love to have back is after watching Charlies Angels 2 (and I really enjoyed the 1st movie), what a load of crap. I get a headache even just thinking about it.

As I said before, I plan to stick around and think most people will too this time around. The Incredibles looks like it's going to be a great flick and has gotten really good reviews so far. I think most Star Wars fans will enjoy the movie based on the buzz it's getting.

It would make a world of difference as it would allow me to keep the original captures in case I need to revert back to them. As it stands right now, I only have enough HD space to capture one side at a time.

Go to Fry's Outpost online. You can find a retail Maxtor IDE 250gb drive for $110 right now w $5 shipping (so $115 total about). Hell of a deal. I'm not sure if I can post a link to the product, but checkout dealnews.com they have it off their homepage.

EDIT: Not sure of any Sata deals going on, but that drive is still a great deal. Bought one a while back from staples.

Ironically, they focus more on defeating copyright protection - and yet laserdiscs have no macrovision.

Yes, laserdiscs have no protection on them, but I'd still think the law wins on that case (if they focused on that part of the law). My point was just that I think taking the film and doing whatever to it (making backup, changing it around, etc.) is illegal now under the new laws. I aplaud you, Zion, Mike and the rest of giving us something Lucass won't. Can't wait to view your sets.

For all we know he could be planning on posting torrents. I was not attacking Mike, just pointing out how erroneous the ramblings on his (so-called) FAQ are.

Well actually (please correct me if I'm wrong) but aren't the new laws just implemented recently prohibit anytype of copying/changing, etc. to your computer illegal now? I believe it's even illegal to make a backup of a movie to a disc you already bought. So what Mike is doing is illegal, in fact what everybody doing on these boards is illegal w/o the rights from Lucas films themselves. I honestly agree Mike has the right to distrubute them as he sees fit... though I'm hoping (even though I know he's saying different right now) he'll make them available for cost of the media, packaging, shipping of the discs or just put them on Torrents. We can only hope can't we?

Pop one into the computer and you'll notice, playing it back not at full-screen, that they have black bars. Since no TVs are wider than 16:9, why bother encoding it any wider than 16:9, right? That's why the black bars are there. ...

Zion, will your bars be encoded in the stream or player generated? That'd be really sweet if it was player generated like most movies nowadays. They still look kickass regardless.

Ewwwww, I hate GoLive. I'm a professional web designer and there's no subsitute for Macromedia Dreamweaver. Much easier and produces the code much cleaner. Glad your getting it going however. If you need any help, I'd be glad to offer assistance.

See I don't mind that change that much. Yes it was stupid, but we have to keep in mind he did want that in the original films. He did film the scene after all (and added Jabba later).

I don't mind the OT changes that much. I sorta like how it does tie into the PT, no matter how stupid they are (I've just blocked out the mediclorines, or whatever they are, stuff from my mind forever).

My issue w Lucas is that I believe all forms of the Star Wars saga should be on DVD (and the best format available in the future, ie HD-DVD). That includes the 1997 SE. He should respect the fans wishes and be able to full-fill his vision at the same time, and let fans see how the movies have changed over time. That's my opinion anyway.

Yeah the film sucked big time (much like most of us are expecting the Star Wars TV show to do). Thank god Joss took another stab at the Buffyverse because Buffy became IMHO the best show ever to be created on TV.

Personally I’d hire Ira Steven Behr, who did an amazing job running “Deep Space Nine” once upon a time. Or “Firefly’s” Tim Minear. Or “Buffy’s” Jane Espenson. And I’d drop a huge pile of cash in the laps of “Authority”/”Global Frequency” creator Warren Ellis and “Wanted” creator Mark Millar to help. Well, it’s fun to think about.

I like Herc's suggestions about who should head the project. If it will succeed, it needs someone who's an excellent story teller and I think Minear or Espenson would be great to do it. They have the experience of working on some great shows (even though Firefly was short lived) and I think could do an excellent job.

MeBeJedi, I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but DL burners can be found for very cheap right now. Pricewatch has a NEC 2510A (it is at 2.4x speeds for DL so that isn't that attractive) for $64 shipped from NewEgg. NewEgg's server is down right now, but that's pretty darn cheap if you ask me so start saving your penny's. I'd love to see your new set on DL, but now I'm just getting greedy. LOL

MBJ, great work, it looks amazing. Can't wait to get my hands on the set, any time table on when you might be finished?

Question for you guys though. Would it be at all doable to use the transfers from the new official set and just edit out the new scenes and add the transfers MBJ is doing for example? That would seem like the best of both worlds, I just don't know if it's doable.

Empire Of Dreams Review

I enjoyed the documentary. I can't wait to see the entire piece on the DVD set.

Did anybody happen to catch the VH1 special? Will that be included on the DVD set? That was pretty cool too, only caught it half way in, so I'm a little PO'd about that. But it was pretty cool to watch it and seeing the old footage as well, just like in Empre of Dreams.

Info: OT Bootleg DVDs
Time
I must confess, I bought a copy of the SE bootleg sets over a year ago. I didn't want to spend a ton of money for the OT which they were going for at the time, so I settled for the SE sets. Was pleased with the quality, not over-whemled. Basically, this was a way to tied me over till they officially came out on DVD. Now I'm fine with the SE sets, though I prefer the OT. I just can't stand a few new scenes in them (the Han scene, Jabba, and in ROTJ the band scene. I like everything else though, but do prefer the OT. Lucas has really pissed me off with his statements towards the OT which prompted to write a letter in which I got a response (supposively) from one of his secretaries. I will most likely buy the official SE sets (there's rumors of other changes which I'm interested in) but I'll buy it second hand so he won't see MY MONEY.

Since he announced the release of the SE edition I was happy at 1st but a little mad later. Like everybody else I WANT the OT on DVD. I feel out of respect towards his fans he should release them. He obviously doesn't need the money he'd make from them, or else he would have done it a while ago. Hey George, here's an idea, since you hate the OT so much release them and give ALL the money to charity. I'm still hoping he will release the OT as part of the Ultimate Editions sets rumored to be released in a few years. When they were selling the VHS sets for the "last time" I didn't really think he meant it. Obviously he does.

So this prompted me to buy the OT bootleg sets now. I paid around $55 for the set, so I'm happy about it. Here's a link to the set I bought. Watched it over the weekend, the quality IMO isn't has good as DVD but pretty damn close. There seems to be pauses throughout the film, which isn't that big of a deal its only for a split second. The sound is really nice, I'm able to listen to it in 5.1 surround sound. So that's my take on my experience with the bootleg sets. Let me know if you have any more questions about the OT set I bought.

Who is the hottest babe in the star wars universe?

So is Padme. Natalie was so natural in "Leon", but Star Wars Prequels are the showpiece of "stiff" (read: bad) acting... even C-3PO is more human.

Now are we talking about the hottest babe or overall talents (along with looks)? I agree that Natalie is very over-hyped in the prequels with her acting, I don't see why George is getting such a bad preformance out of her. She's so talented in other movies she's been in and my favorite of hers is "Beutiful Girls". She was so great in that movie.
