New ROTS Trailer
Time
I loved the trailer last night. The thing that was the chit was I got it in HD, and the 5.1 sound was aweome! As soon as the spaceship went by and I heard it in the background, (I was laying down on the couch) I sat up and watched it sitting up. Great trailer. Loved it in HD.

The only thing that makes me a little nervous, is I remember thinking the exact same thing about the Ep I trailer, and we all know how that movie turned out.

Only good thing is GL said he thinks the film will be a PG13 rating on this weeks 60 minutes. So hopefully he won't back down and this movie lives up to the hype.

I hope Fox plays the trailer again on some other shows (please for "24"). I thought the Adam Brody Jedi fighting thing was pretty funny too!

Star Wars Celebration III...
Time
After seeing the trailer last night it really makes me want to go to CIII this year. It'll be the last big one, and I've never been to a convention before. I remember reading in an older thread (I think in one of the preservation threads) that someone said it's possible to hook us up with a hotel right across from the center. Who said it? Tried searching but I can't remember. I'm definitely interested and would like to get some more info. Anyone that could help me out would be greatly appreciated. Much thanks.

It seems for now that the NEC3520A has much better ratings. Both it and the Pioneer 109 uses the NEC chipset, so I don't know what the big difference is. You can read the 3520A comments here.

I'll have to check New Egg to see how the two writers are rated there.

I've been asking this in several places, but haven't received an answer. Where in the official DVD's do the layer breaks occur for ESB and ROTJ. I know where it occurs for ANH. I don't plan on buying or renting them to find out as I won't be using them for my project, but I would like to know where they set their layer breaks.

Thanks.

Patrick

Go with the NEC. I have the older model 2510A after my Plextor 708A crapped out on me and I haven't had one bad coaster yet. It handles every media I've thrown at it so far and IMHO is a GREAT burner. Buy form NewEgg, can't go wrong with the price too.

What would you like to see in a scifi/fantasy web site? The time has come for a change...

Jay, if you decide to go the PHP route and move your hosting, check out IntegraMod. It's an excellent forum mods/content management system that's based off of PHPBB. Has a lot of cool features, and best of all it's free. I really like vBulletin, but it costs a pretty peny, and you still have to have mods to run the content management off of the forums. Just something to checkout, hope all goes well with the new direction this site takes.

Wow, I just read this entire thread for the 1st time and, wow. Laserman, I really hope you continue your project and I'd want to get your discs when (if) they become available. Make sure it's fun for you (and fun to learn new things) to continue this project. Like you said, if it's no fun, it's usually the time to quit. Anyway, hopefully you'll be continuing your project and we'll get the discs soon enough! Keep up the great work.

Your number of visits to the cinema to go see the Star Wars films...
Time
I was about 2 months old when ANH 1st came out, so I missed it it's 1st time out. My dad took me to see ESB I think 3 times total and then I saw ANH up on campus (at Penn State) once (after seeing ESB). I think I saw ROTJ about 7 times. I can't count how many times I've seen the movies on video.

As far as TPM, I saw it 3 times. The 1st time I was too geeked to really see the film for what it was (and saw it at the 2nd showing). Saw it a 2nd time and enjoyed it and then when I was in LA saw it once on a really nice screen out there. I've seen it on DVD 3 or 4 times since then and just realized it was just OK at best. In terms of AOTC, I've seen that about 4 or 5 times in the theaters. I've got to admit, seeing it at the midnight showing was the best movie experience of my life. The fans were great and really enjoyed the movie. I saw it a few more times in the theater and then once on the digital screen in Boston. I've seen it since on DVD about 3 or 4 times and that's where I really see the flaws of the film, but still enjoy it pretty good.

Buffy was one of the finest TV shows ever created. Period. It had great writing, comedy, storylines and the character development was pretty damn good. Look at Willow for example. She completely changed characters from when she started out to when the show finished. My guess is you never got Buffy and didn't give it much of a chance. It was a great show and Joss Whedon is my 1st pick to direct the new TV show if it is in fact live action.

Did anyone see the new news about the TV show being possibly CGI and also between Ep III and IV? I don't know how accurate this info is, but it is interesting. If they could get Joss Whedon to direct the TV show, I really hope it's live action and not CGI, but if he wasn't directing it I think CGI is the way to go.

Qui Gon's death.

I agree with what SubZero and SWFanBoy. After thinking about it for a while, that's the only thing I can come up with. This became more evident during EPII when the Jedi were getting killed in the arena. It should be interesting to see if Lucass reviels it during EPIII. Hopefully we'll get an answer we've been wondering for many years.

Mike, I checked your updates and they really are incredible. I find it so amazing that Lucasfilms' army of FX people could miss what one man did not. My only complaint is that some pics are too small to really appreciate your work. Even something as small as the "green saber" looks worlds better then the DVD. Nice work, I can't wait to see how you handle the non-SE footage.

Thank you.. don't worry - larger res options are coming... it's the #1 requested feature...

_Mike

That's great news Mike. Your work looks amazing. Can't wait to see more updates. Though I almost don't want to visit your site knowing I might never get my hands on your set. Looking at the pics I might become Gollum starring at the monitor calling them "my presious" (in Gollum voice), or in Star Wars terms go like Anakin because Obi-won's holding you down.

I like this one better. It's more subtle.

I agree. It's not throwing it in your face as much. And I still don't see anything coming from those TFN diagrams. The 'fet one looks like a clown to me.

I like this one much much better.
