You and the GF should try the demo for LBP.  It's a lot of fun in local MP.  I bought two wired controllers on Woot for $5 each so we have 4 controllers.

I have Resistance, and I just can't seem to get into it.  I bought this controller, which helps...

http://www.amazon.com/Shadow-6-Wireless-Controller-Playstation-3/dp/B002ISZB2O/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1306734119&sr=8-2

But sometimes you can't change shoot to the "actual" triggers... you're stuck with the "bumpers".  Which is the case for the Uncharted games.  They're decent, and worth playing.  Nothing I would have bought the console for, but as long as you have it.

Probably the best exclusive to me was inFamous.  Maybe not your type of game (maybe it is) but I liked it.

Let us know if you keep it.

EDIT: Best part is that when the PSN store comes back online, you might be eligible to get 2 free games.  2 of which are LBP and inFamous.

Make sure you do all of the Subject 16 stuff.  In my humble- it's some of the best stuff in the game.

That is actually what has kept me playing it. First thing I do anytime I open a new area is eagerly run off and find the glyphs. I think I only have four left.
Same here.

Oh, good.  Some of my other friends only did a couple glyphs because it wasn't "stabbing people in the neck".

Are there any Assassin's Creed players here? if so, what do you think about Assassin's Creed Revelations coming out this November? finally going to put closure to Altair and Ezio, and explain the link between them 2 and Desmond, I know I can't frackin wait, Ubisoft wants to put closure to this, to get us ready for Assassin's Creed III.

So, from what you said I take it they plan on introducing a new assassin for ACIII?

It seems that way.  They more or less said AC would be a trilogy when the first one came out.  Now that the 4th game is about to be released, they are calling it "The final game in the Ezio trilogy" or "The final game in the ACII trilogy".  I'm ready to move on Assassin's Creed III with a new assassin and a new timeframe.  I'm ready to spend more time as Desmond and wrap up the 2012 storyline.  But I can still get excited about one more Ezio/Altair game.

Four Assassin's Creed games (II, Brotherhood, Revelations, and III) in so few years sounds risky. Hope they keep them interesting.

It sounds like an unmaintainable pace.  Both for the developers and the players.  I'm not sure if ACIII is slated for 2012 (but I have to assume it is based on the 2012 element to the storyline) but that would be 5 AC games in 6 years.  ACII (barring C3PX's odd and unfortunate techinal glitches) was such an improvement over ACI- and ACB is definitely on-par with ACII.

The short turnaround between ACB and ACR gives me a slight cause for concern... but they've pulled it off so far, so I guess they'll do alright.

As some may recall- I don't end up buying AC games as much as borrow them from a friend who goes and gets them on opening night at midnight.  I, in turn, loan him BioShock games- though I don't know what we'll do this fall.  There was a several page story about ACR in the gameinformer that arrived this week, but I loaned it to him before I got a chance to read it myself.

005/C3PX- I wasn't sure if you were going to actually finish ACII.  Make sure you do all of the Subject 16 stuff.  In my humble- it's some of the best stuff in the game.

AVATAR and 3D in general....
Time

Not the theatre I mentioned before, but another one near me- changed their matinee times to "anything before noon".  So, I think there's basically one matinee a day, since the first show-time of the day is 10:00.

We went to go see a show at 4:45P because I thought I'd save $4 a ticket that way.  Nope, it was $10.50 already.

But I'm glad I don't live near skyjedi and have to pay his prices.

opinions on film restoration/preservation and how it applies to Star Wars - what do you think should/should not be allowed?

as an experiment, if we take some of the raw 1080p ESB test transfers, and give them to 10 different people, we'll end up with 10 different takes on the restoration of it.. i can provide a short sample of 1-2 minutes, and see what you come up with...

I think that is only when you muddle the term "restoration". [We] all have pretty much the exact same idea in mind of what restoration actually is.

It is the people who want changes that are on the slippery slope of never having what they truly want. They have to debate and question how far is too far. Is Adywan's project too far? Are the 97 SEs too far? Would the SE be too far if it was exactly the same minus the added camp?

It's true, it's a very slippery slope to say that you want something other than a "restoration."  Once you ask for "restoration+plus" you open the door/slope to almost anything.

My point perhaps should have been expressed more like this: If we got something like that (recomposit using original elements (no new windows) for some scenes (i.e. Snow speeder interiors on Hoth, rancor scenes with Luke)), it would satisfy me.  I think it would be in the realm of "close enough".  And I think that if we didn't accept it graciously, we'd be marginalized, even more than we currently are, as whiners and malcontents.

Let's move back to a concrete example- Ady's ESB Reconstructed.  Only looks and plays like the original.  Benefits from some recomp, etc.  If that were officially released, would you be happy?

Hypothetical: What would you KEEP?

EDIT: What notable element would you keep if any, xhonzi?

Ughh.....  hard question.  I usually like to frame my thoughts in terms of "completely- 100% ignoring anything from the 1998-2007 timeframe" and going with that.

But Ewan MacGregor was pretty decent.  He especially had the right look in RotS.  I think with proper lines and direction he could be worth keeping.  Or not, it wouldn't break my heart.

And the new Y-Wing design that shows what they looked like in their prime is pretty good.

And...  that's about all I can think of.  There might be one or two things I'm forgetting.  Some of the landscapes weren't bad- Utupau (sp?) isn't a bad design for a new environment.

David, you are to stay here for the next six months learning to speak beautifully, like a lady in a florist's shop. If you work hard and do as you're told, you shall sleep in a proper bedroom, have lots to eat, and money to buy chocolates and go for rides in taxis. But if you are naughty and idle, you shall sleep in the back kitchen amongst the black beetles, and be wolloped by Mrs. Pearce with a broomstick. At the end of six months you will be taken to Buckingham Palace, in a carriage, beautifully dressed. If the king finds out you are not a dark lord of the sith, you will be taken to the Tower of London, where your head will be cut off as a warning to other presumptuous lanky dudes! But if you are not found out, you shall have a present... of, ah... seven and six to start life with as a dark lord. If you refuse this offer, you will be the most ungrateful, wicked dude, and the angels will weep for you.

 Blimey!

The EUphiles Have Their Own Petition

I read the EU and enjoy it but I am a moderate EU fan To this day my favortie EU Story's are Heir To The Empire , Dark Empire 1 and 2 , Empires End and the comic book adaptation's of the original trilogy episode 4-6. To me the 6 star Wars movies and the clone wars tv series are canon. The EU is good but it's not the main course. And this whole petition of the 2000 to ask the GL to limit the way he tell his story's of star wars I do not agree with no one bit.

 Empire's End?

I just lost some respect for you, ken.  Again.
