C3PX!  I just bought that Omega + Lil Sis + Bunny Mask from TRU for $22.50.  Their clearnance stuff is 25% off this weekend.

... but I am not a big fan of the look of the Alpha/Omega series Big Daddies (if it came with a splicer instead of the Omenga, I'd probably run down to my local TRU and grab it right now)....

Whoah, I totally confused Omega with Sigma!  How in the world did that happen??!?!  The side of the box talked about Lamb sending Omega against Delta as her final attack... which, since I was thinking of Minerva Den's Sigma, really had me scratching my head.

Wikipedia to the rescue!

The PT would not have fared well without the goodwill engendered by the OT.

Without the enormous success of the OT, Lucas might not have had absolute control and too big of a head to accept creative input from others. With a more humble or less powerful Lucas, the PT might have been a lot better. Even without making big changes to the story, just having a decent writer touch up the dialog would have gone a long way.

That's true, but a different argument.  I could have been more clear:

You'll get no argument from me that a GL making a PT without the power* of having made one of the most successful franchises of all time would have probably been better.

I wouldn't be as mad if they just scanned the 97 SE, but that would be a good thing, so it's not going to happen.

I've said it before. That's all they need to do to fix every problem. No OOT but everyone's happy.

As for the art, finally "The Administrator Of This Facility" TM got his own disc!!!

Everyone would be happy with the 1997 SE?

Count me out.  That's almost as disinteresting to me as the 2004 versions.

Lord of the Rings Trilogy - Extended Edition coming to Blu-Ray

I've been reading some stuff about the EE being on two discs. I think that even if a BD has room enough to store the whole movie as long as the EE, there are two things that are mixing here into the final decission of splitting them.

I'm a little at odds with meself on the issue.  Obviously switching discs sucks.  On the one hand, the movies are quite long and the thought that I wouldn't have to get up sometime during the movie is nearly preposterous.  And the thought of increased bit-rate is quite tempting...

But seriously?  A 50 GB disc isn't enough for a 3.5 hour movie?  Or a 3.67 hour movie?  Or a 7 hour movie?

The worst part for me: Last the Mrs. and I watched LotR:EE, we watched it with no regard to the "starting" or "stobbing" of individual movies.  We watched an hour or two each night and found a breaking point wherever was convenient.  With 2 disc swaps over 11 hours, the chances of resuming the movie(s) just prior to a disc swap are fairly low.  With 5 discs swaps over the same- Well the chances are two-and-a-half times higher!

Oh, the horror!

What would you like on your tombstone?*

Discussions don't have to be arguments.  I'll apologize if my comments have come off antagonistically.

I, for one, enjoyed reading your perspective.  And it seems you don't lack at least a little whit (per your closing comment) and I think there's a place for you here.

There are four Pirates of the Carribean movies, and the first was the only enjoyable film in my mind.  Star Trek has come out with 11 movies, some of them horrendously bad.  How many horror films have produced innumerable stupid sequels, yet still garner a loyal fan-base?  Just watched the new X-men movie, and that is a franchise that has really gone downhill in my mind, but I doubt they're done.

To my point, had the 3rd PotC been first, there would have never been sequels.  Had Star Trek The Motion Picture been first, (you know what I mean) there would have never been sequels.

Had there not been something good to begin with, there wouldn't have been sequels.

The PT would not have fared well without the goodwill engendered by the OT.

There are a lot of opinions out there- but, in my opinion- having an opinion doesn't necessarily mean it's a valid one.

Inception - over-rated. 1 ball out of 10.

You better run squirrel.

Sry, just was confusing and illogical to me. The movie seemed to try real hard to inject an emotional angle on it, but came out lame to me.

just remember Johnny tried to warn you when you find yourself cornered by xhonzi and his ilk.

IGNOwaitaminutehere...  Have I ever ignored someone for not liking the movie?  Or just for not seeing it?  I can't recall.  Is there precedent here?

Reign of Fire - 8/10

I miss that Matthew McConaughey.

I really liked Reign of Fire, but the ending felt flat to me.  The best action is in the middle of the film.  I think the ending needed a boost in the arm.  Perhaps whilst Bale and McConaughey are sneaking into the lair, they should have had some of the secondary characters creating a diversion outside of town.  Something violent that can match the action from the skydiving scene.

Cool! That is tempting! Wish the mask was still intact enough to cover your entire face, I love the whole wrecked look, obviously it wouldn't really be a splicer mask without it, but it is a little too wrecked.

I think I might have already said this earlier, but: I completely agree.  I'd prefer an "antiqued" one above all, maybe a few cracks in the paint.  But this thing is pretty wrecked.

I also really like the red little sister with the baseball head Alpha that it comes with, and you can always use another little sister, but I am not a big fan of the look of the Alpha/Omega series Big Daddies

I agree here as well.  'Tis a shame that this is my first big daddy figure.  At the very least it could have been Delta instead of Omega...

Mrs. xhonzi and I celebrated our annivesary this weekend and did a little antique shopping.  I saw an old US Navy diving helmet:

That I really wish I'd had the cash for.  Or the room in the basement.  Then my big daddy collection would have been complete.
