FALLOUT 3 UPDATE: (spoilers herein)

I was able to play for several hours this weekend, and here is my report.

So... I blew it.  It looks like I missed my chance to go back to Vault 101.  And, more importantly, get the achievement for doing so.  And even more important- get the bobblehead and therefore the achievement for that.

Since I know you're all on pins and needles... I was able to get into Vault 101 after returning from The Pitt.

*whew*

I enjoyed the ending of the Pitt.  I sided with the Slaves... though it was quite a grey decision.  I think the 'cruelty to slaves' trumped everything else for me.  But I was unhappy with some of the repercussions of my decisions.  Now to go find some teddy bears.

And, finally, I have this on my Amazon wish list for whenever I get around to playing New Vegas:

http://www.amazon.com/Music-Inspired-Fallout-New-Vegas/dp/B004IAX6MC/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I23QDKNTKRGQYR&colid=331BUTX54JY8Z

Looks like some fun Vegas themed music to add to the mix.

Did he forget that movies are often cut down to (just barely) PG-13 to make more money?

I don't think so.  He blames the PG-13 nature of the movie for depriving him of the boobs.  I think he literally thinks: "Damn!  This movie would have the boobs in it if it weren't PG-13!  Damn you PG-13!"

He can also find plenty of boobs on the internet.  Hell, he can probably find pictures where he has boobs on the internet.

Hence why I said famous boobs in the OP.

Which also leads me to this thought, which might be better suited for another thread (on another site, but I digress)... but does nudity/seeing a sex scene somehow make the relationship deeper or more intimate?  (In a movie.  I, of course, acknowledge the need for nudity in real relationships. :) )  I've always been perfectly satisfied with a little saxophone music telling me all I need to know.  It tells me what's happened to the characters individually and what's changed in their relationship.  I don't need to see any more than that.  Just like I don't need to see these people on the crapper.

Watchmen, I'm looking at you.  (for the explicit sex scenes, not the crapper scenes)

Confused?  You won't be, after this episode of...

AS THE DEATH STAR TURNS

*applaud*

Maybe you can use something like that to introduce Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clowns:  A Frink FanEdit.

Please post in my TRM thread so I don't forget it.

You realize that those kind of comments were in 100% of his reviews I read?  It's not like one little sardonic comment and I'm flying off the handle.  It was in 5 of the 5 reviews that I read.

I don't recall him being so fixated back when I used to read him more regularly.  It was something new- I found it odd.  I thought some people here might appreciate the oddity.

Many apologies if I've somehow touched a nerve here.

Xhonzi,
If you wanna read crazy perverted sex fantasies into a few sardonic remarks about a topic made fun of all the g** d*** time, please continue to do so. Whatever floats your boat.

You're right, twooffour.  I'm totally reading too much into this.  I don't know how I leapt to the conclusion that this guy has creepy sex on his mind no matter what the subject matter.

It's all how you read it, I guess.

Here are some snippets (all PG-13 movies):

Green Lantern:

We demand one chaste kiss between hero and heroine, but no funny stuff.

Captain America:

Young Steve's Army confidante both before and after his transformation is the sultry Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), whose full red lips make her resemble a classic military pin-up of the period. ... they grow close, but only PG-13 close, because Marvel has apparently determined that fanboys find sex to be icky.

Rise of the Apes:

Whether she becomes Will's surrogate wife is an excellent question; the movie displays the usual PG-13 shyness about intimate details;

And a bit of a stretch: X-Men: First Class

At least all the X-Men are old enough to see an R-rated movie without adult supervision. Not that "X-Men" is R-rated; god forbid that a comic-book movie should turn away a single eager ticket-buyer.

Winner winner, chicken dinner.

And those are all of the reviews I read today.  I stopped reading Ebert years ago, but what's happened to the man?  He seems to be very upset that PG-13 ratings are standing between him and seeing famous boobs.

I think it's partly the annoyance of the obligatory chaste romance in these films, not that the romance itself is chaste.

Really?  I don't see that at all.  Perhaps in the case of Green Lantern, but not the others.  He seems to be upset that these films don't have sex scenes.  Enough to keep calling it out in his reviews.

He blames Marvel in the case of Cap.  Then he blames PG-13 in the case of Apes.  I know what I was expecting when I went to go see Rise of the Apes: Full frontal nudity.  And more "intimate details" between the  scientist who accidentally created an untelligent breed of ape and his wife.  And maybe some apes.  You know... rising.  If there's time left after all of the "intimate details" are laid out.  *wink wink*

Which Batman film is your favorite?

Without the Spirit or the Shadow, Batman the comic probably would not exist, and Bob Kane gets all the credit for it when he was not the only creative hand in it.

Its like Stan Lee taking all the credit for Marvel, and Jack Kirby is forgotten.

Xhonzi i think the public opinion on comics goes back to the creation of the comics code and the censoreship which shut down EC comics because they would not do censored books.

Also they claimed the comics had a bad influence on children and it was Communists influencing kids, commie propaganda.

Politicians especially the Religious right violated the sovereign rights of Americans freedom of speech, with this censorship its just like pre code Hollywood before they came in and cleaned up all the sex and nudity to appease hard right Christians.

Too bad in time even liberals got in on censorship like AL Gore's Ex wife.

There is some truth in what you say.

Though I don't think we called them "Hard Right Christians" back in the day.  They were just Christians and they were most of us back then.

And there's hardly any censorship.  Have you turned on your TV recently?  Or wandered into the wrong end of the bookstore?  Or been on "the internet."

What's with Roger Ebert and... sex... recently?
Time

I had to go look up Ebert's review of Phantom Menace since it came up in another thread.  While I was there, I decided to read some of his comments on some other recent movies.

Here are some snippets (all PG-13 movies):

It starts basic enough:

Green Lantern:

We demand one chaste kiss between hero and heroine, but no funny stuff.

Captain America:

Young Steve's Army confidante both before and after his transformation is the sultry Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell), whose full red lips make her resemble a classic military pin-up of the period. ... they grow close, but only PG-13 close, because Marvel has apparently determined that fanboys find sex to be icky.

Rise of the Apes:

Whether she becomes Will's surrogate wife is an excellent question; the movie displays the usual PG-13 shyness about intimate details;

And a bit of a stretch: X-Men: First Class

At least all the X-Men are old enough to see an R-rated movie without adult supervision. Not that "X-Men" is R-rated; god forbid that a comic-book movie should turn away a single eager ticket-buyer.

And The Finale: Cowboys and Aliens:

One alien element has become almost traditional. Ever since "Alien," we've had the phenomenon of aliens who unfold to reveal wicked inner parts. The aliens here have chest cavities that open to extrude three-fingered hands, slimy with mucus. One shudders to envision the use of these limbs during sex. On their home world, there must be fortunes to be made in opening manicure shops.

Winner winner, chicken dinner.

And those are all of the reviews I read today.  I stopped reading Ebert years ago, but what's happened to the man?  He seems to be very upset that PG-13 ratings are standing between him and seeing famous boobs.

I find it impossible to hate them for what they are (almost comically muddled and mediocre toy adverts).

I do loathe the missed opportunity they represent (the chance to revisit the Star Wars universe in a cinematic context).

As the official episodes 1 to 3 they were a long hungry wait for an unappetising and expensive meal, the service was lousy too.

I only watch the footage now to see what other chefs and cooks can rustle up with some of the same ingredients.

Um... I'll put you down as 'meh'?
